I don't take it as rudeness. But thanks for your support Corrin. Those who know a bit might also know that ToS WS is not made just to earn money. Its a NICE bonus. Even nicer is that a company like Matrixgames found this game to be worth their attention and offered their support to make it even better. I can easily see that we made a big marketing mistake to offer ToS for free at all .
I can see that we are forced to improve ToS WS to make any customer considering it over v1.4. But hey, were is the problem. It will be improved in numerous fields, from eye and earcandy to AI, missons and lots of other fine things v1.4 was missing. I'm working about 10 hours a day on it and our other members also put all their time and efforts into it.
I just stated that I think v1.4 is already a game which can compete with other games. I had emails were players stated that Diablo2 was only second in their attention when it was time to play a game.

I think the real challenge will be playing 1.4 knowing that Titans of Steel: Warring Suns is available.

The improvements are vast. I was looking at a screenshot of 1.4 vs the screenshot of Warring Suns and while 1.4 looks good it pales in comparison with the Warring Suns Graphics. Think about this 1.4 uses 256 colors. Not just 256 colors but 256 total colors for the entire battle module. The new game uses truecolor,24bit. That alone is worth the purchase. however, we are also including high quality audio from 8-bit to 16-bit, All new soundtracks for each module, Campaigns, new factory graphics with 3D chassis models which match the sprites(if you like designing this is a must have).
The tile sets (8 new arenas/worlds) have been completely redone. The Titans are all being remodeled and there will be all new sprites. There are other improvements as well such as the automove, Improved AI functions (hunt, stay, patrol, go to predetermined hex, etc,. . .)

It would be easier for me to say what we aren't improving. So here is the list of what won't be improved:

1) End of list.

Just to add my 2 cents: I'm not really influenced by eye candy. I do most of my work on a laptop I travel with that I've reconfigured a half dozen times. So I can't really appreciate games which *need* a specific graphics or sound card for then to be fun. But ToS doesn't. What keeps me playing ToS on long flights or at the airport is it's game play. Just using my keyboard I can maul the AI's Black Death while strategizing how to evade the Tentakel that just climbed the hill. When it's time to go, I can save the game for later, *and* look forward to an online game when I get back home! So when Titans WS comes out, the new audiovisuals will be nice, but it's not what will get me to pay.

What would make me *for sure* plunk down the money would be a scenario editor. If I could design not just custom tournament teams, cut custom scenarios? That would be awesome! I could build a battlefield, send an e-mail to my opponent(s) describing the setting\background with the team files attached, and play! It could lead to interesting fanfictions where at certain points in the story, I could post the team & scenario files for people to play certain battles. *That's* what would interest me.

Just my 2 cents.

That is absolutely useless information. If you have a concern with Close Assault that would be the forum to mention it on. Last time I checked there are lots of free games available from Matrix games. One of which I saw mentioned in PC gamer as #3 in best freeware games(Steel Panthers world at war). Which I highly recommend. That is a fantastic download which Matrix Games is sharing pretty freely. Also TOS ver1.4 seems to be available here as well so I have to disagree with you as concerns Matrix's devotion to gaming. They have been extremely helpful to Vicious Byte. Is it fair to say we are teaming up to produce the best Titans of Steel ever. Yes.

Hum as the discussion have somewhat disgressed I will take part in the disgression ( if this word even exist in english too ).

TOS is great because it is better than Mechforce with the exact same gameplay feeling.

WS will be better than TOS because it will be nicer, deeper and funnier with the same gameplay feeling.

That is my point: dont make something new, make the old best.

ToS:WS jsut need to be ToS with:
- Better graphics ( deeply needed for AT, sorry I know how painfull it was to make them ).
- Equal sound track ( yes I just love the musics from the ancient game, just try to keep the same grasp ).
- More AT, more landfeature, more gear, more skills(?). When I say more I think that 1 to 5 is more enough.
- New prescenerized campaign, in opposition on the current campaign mode that is fully randomized.
- Map editor ( need it big time ).
- A way to share the control of the AT in the same team for online play ( enable RPG and more cooperative option ).
- A new limitation on number of team/ AT by team. I guess 8 team of 12 AT is really within your technical grasp ( and our computer capacity ).
- Perhaps to put an online factory, a place where people can buy and share design with the entire community. It is just to be a AT database accessible from the factory mods and in wich you can post comment about the AT.
- Add some other feature than AT, but as an options... ( I am unsure if I really want to have themin the game ), such as vehicule, building , bunker, AAT, infanterie squad. After all WS is leaving the ToS statement of prisonner/arena to soldiers/Battlefield. And I jsut really loved to play some Macross/Southern Cross Campaign kind

AS a closing word I will say: Make it Fun, Make it Great but more important than everything Make it Your Way and SOON.

------

P.S. And why not have the full ladder thing implemented from start in a fixed online site ( with the factory ).

Speaking of The ladder thing, all we would need is for the designer of the Titans:WS website here (the new one ny Matrix, not the ToS site by Vicious Byte) to get together with me, and possiblt Bernd Hesberg. It might take some doing to automate the Ranking into the website, but I already have an idea how it could be done.

Actually Mr. Peterson not completely useless information. Larkin suggested pulling the TOS demo so I gave him an example where that has been done.

And regarding Steel Panthers they can't sell it. SSI still has the rights to it.
