Hm, I've occasionally seen a bug that puts a puff of smoke in a map corner, but I haven't seen what you're describing about being under the map.

Anyone else using the "smoke plume" particle? Every time I place it, there is a second instance that I don't see added in the MM- just in the SE. It is off map, under the map.

I ran a template to make a scenario with the map with this problem, and it had spawned men onto it...

Ben,

In my Hill 621 map when I placed my first smoke plume I noticed a second plume as well placed at whwere I think the origin is. I tried to get a screen shot of it but wasn't able to. It seemed to plume once then disappear.

I placed a second plume on map but didn't see a ghost for that one.

I'll try again to catch a screen shot.

Thanks

Below is a screen shot from just when Scene Edit is first opened. you can see the puff of smoke at what I think might be the origin coordinate. aTHis is after setting a smoke particle on a ruin in the Hill 621 map. After the first plume it seems to disappear for me, though it continues on the ruins. I haven't looked in the game proper for this .

I've been the Random battle template feature on a series of maps to create templates.

Found one problem that has been consistent on last 7 map templates. It may be the way I'm using it, but each of the templates, when checked using the report button, or edited and changed then saved, report that minefields are located outside of the map area.

To work around this, I edited the template xml and wherever x_min == 0 or z_min == 0, I changed to 2 (or 5) for some templates. Smae for when x_max == 1000 or z_max ==1000, I set them to 995 (or 998 for some templates).

Since both 0 and 1000 or on-map locations, it may be that this wouldn't cause an error in the RBG. But , if you need to edit the templates, to add Objectives or or fuller description, or perhaps line up tanks along a road, you are unable to save your changes.

Just loading the template xml (from the data\templates directory) into notepad and using the find and replace function fixes this in 10-15 min per map.

I don't recall this happening before, but I may not have checked editing and saving changes (though I thought I had).

Thanks - and even with this, MM is saving tons of time creating templates. This is especially true if you have a slow system - MM can do them in couple of minutes, and on my system it takes a minute to even pan the map once when the template units are shown!

Thanks!

No problem - it's not that hard to fix in notepad once you know it's happening. Hope things are going well for you.
