Why not just use the "ferry" system that RHS and Nemo's mod has in it.........that way the PI troops can move to wherever in theater.......same for making the jumo from Sumatra to Java etc.

Do you mean put "land" and/or road bridges between islands? Such "ferries" would also be able to be used by enemy troops for invading the adjacent island, so this is not realistic.

As Don said we tried to come up with a cheat-proof means of allowing restricted troops to be moved by ship but couldn't come up with one.

I remember some long discussions about this, either here or on the uber WitP board, and we just could not come up with a foolproof solution. There always seemed to be a loophole somewhere. At least we can move units by air, at least the light elements.

The "ferry's" are hidden.......not sure how they did it, but caught me very offguard to see the Japanese army basically march from Sumatra over to Java.

There is also "ferry's" running to all those islands just south of Java. I think the PI has them too, but never tried to march to them........but I know I could set the island next to mine as a destination and they would accept it.

I know the Japanese could use it too, if it was done, but it works.

IIRC RHS also had several ferry locations well-researched by several contributors, some living at those locations, or having been there.

They put in roads and/or rails and simply did not draw them on the map. If you use the 'r' key to display the road/rail network you will see them.

I think it would be better to allow Philippine Army divisions to board ships and simply have a house rule that they are never allowed to disembark in non-Philippine bases. Maybe coupled with coding to prevent them from getting replacements if they are not in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, an actual commercial product development doesn't work that way.

What is a "Constalbury Regiment"? Is this a mistaken spelling for a "constabulary regiment", or is this some kind of proper name? That just strikes me as an odd name which I've never heard before in military parlance. [&:]

In that case it should probably just be "constab regiment" rather than the mispelling, but we'll live with it.

This sounds like the best option to me. If playing allied v. AI or PBM it should work fine. Don't really need to code the replacements issue unless your PBM partner is untrustworthy. Can't use this setup as Japan v. AI though. Should be easy enough to fix after release.

Exactly. Abbreviate if you have to. Don't mispell the word. Looks bad. [:-]

"I'll be adding US Marine Regimental Commanders before we go Gold. (Not every Commander, one representative Commander per Regiment)."

As long as this includes Lewis Puller, I'll be happy. He was buried at the church by my high school, but there wasn't room inside the church for me that day.

Lewis Puller? Never heard of him.

But sometime around 5/42 you might keep your eyes peeled for Chesty Puller, the most #$@! famous Marine in the history of the #$@! Corps, and the highest-rated US small-unit commander in the game.

Would it be possible to use the editor to remove the restricted command limitation on Philippine troops? If so, I'm going to make a mod so that they can at least theoretically have the ability to move from island to island.
