"Aircraft losses
Finland: Reported losses during the Winter War totaled 67, of which 42 were operational, while 536 aircraft were lost during the Continuation War, of which 209 were operational losses. (Overall 603).[1]
France: From the beginning of the war until the capitulation of France in 1940, 892 aircraft were lost, of which 413 were in action and 234 were on the ground. Losses included 508 fighters and 218 bombers.(Overall 892)[1]
Germany: Estimated total losses for the war totaled 27,875 aircraft, of which 7,000 were total losses and the remainder significantly damaged. By type, losses totaled 4,452 fighters, 2,037 bombers, 5,428 trainers, 1,221 twin-engine fighters, 8,548 ground attack, 3,733 reconnaissance, and 3,141 transports.[1]
Italy: Total losses were 5,272 aircraft, of which 3,269 were lost in combat.
Japan: Estimates vary from 35,000 to 50,000 total losses, with about 20,000 lost operationally.[2]
Netherlands: Total losses were 81 aircraft during the May, 1940 campaign.[2]
Poland: Total losses were 398 destroyed, including 116 fighters, 112 dive bombers, 81 reconnaissance aircraft, 36 bombers, 21 sea planes, and 9 transports.[2]
Soviet Union: Total losses were over 106,400 including 88,300 combat types.[3]
United Kingdom: Total losses in Europe were 22,010, including 10,045 fighters and 11,965 bombers. (This figure does not include aircraft lost in Asia or the Pacific.)[2]
United States: Total losses were nearly 45,000, including 22,951 operational losses (18,418 in Europe and 4,533 in the Pacific)i would not stake my life on it but the P47 was probably the plane for the allies it shot down around 4,000 plus also 3,500 on the ground if not the spitfire...it was there all the war but it short range witch keep it from much of the fighing....the yak3 may be in with a show here but it is hard to get info on that...but it all pails to the ME109 just one fighter group the most famous JG52 shot over 10,000 planes mostly Russian.
I hope that Helps

Tiger!

Some interesting information in there. Operational losses seemingly were often around half of total losses. And almost 1/5 of Germany's losses were trainers.

" Soviet Union: Total losses were over 106,400 ... " Damn, that is a lot of planes. Helps explains how there were so many Nazi aces with kills totaling 50 and more.

I'm wondering... once the game goes gold, what is the subsequent process? What is the reason of having to wait for two, three or four weeks more when the game is basically ready?. Some QA process or what? I'm really getting pissed off with those QA guys, and I don't even know them... [:D]

In my understanding 22nd or 23rd is the release date not the Gold announcement, so we have to sleep only 21 till then :D with a Gold coming these days, probably next week is not too optimistic.

We haven't announced a specific release date yet. What I've said is that we are _aiming_ for late June and the anniversary. A lot depends on the printing time for the manual which we're doing in full color (about 330 pages) with a new printer, so we'll see. I can say it won't be any earlier than late June and the longest it should realistically be possible for it to slip is 2-3 weeks.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik, the manual included is a big plus are there any extras planned for sale like a map or anything of that nature?

We'd like to do a printed map as a separate thing, I'm looking into that.

Thank you very much for the update. You can't imagine how much we appreciate being kept informed. Even if the date slips (and God knows a lot could still go wrong) it is great to know that the staff knows us well enough , and is willing to take the time to keep us informed. It's more like being a "member of the family". instead of just a customer. It's a good feeling! [&o][&o][&o]

Please look into a laminated map, I never purchase the WITP one because of this, or how we could get it laminated.

I've been getting my maps laminated for years - every town I've lived has had one or more services that will do that - for a fee. Start googling and you should find one. Kinkos will do it - but they might be the most expensive. The lower cost ones were people who operated a service from out of their homes.

I purchased one, had it laminated at Kinko's, and have it sitting behind me now, where I plot every bit of signint and usefull sighting reports that I get. It's very usefull to get "inside my opponents head". [:)]

Printed manual?  Color?  The?  Man, I still remember printing out the original manual on my printer.  I think I need a boxed copy.  What's the price going to be?  Sorry, been gone a LONG time.
