Progress Update?

Post by dwesolick »

OK, I hate to be "one of those guys" that asks questions like this, but with AE, I just can't resist. It's been about a month since we first heard that AE was tantalizingly close to release. Any chance we could get a further update on progress? Is it still looking good for a release in the next month or so (prior to the anniversary of Witp's release)? Any truth to the rumor that AE will be released on a date of significance regarding the Pacific War (eg: anniversary of Midway, etc)?

Any (non-abusive[:-]) responses will be appreciated! Thanks!

Well in Andy's recent AAR thread, he stopped posting because a nasty bug cropped up. So I doubt they'll release it until they get at least one or more runs through the campaign with no bugs being found. Which is as it should be, nothing hurts a game more than a bug ridden release.

So I guess close is simply a relative term. Once they've squashed all the bugs it may be in our hands in no time, but until then... your guess is as good as mine.

But like you, I WANT IT NOW. [:D]

I did not know a new bug had popped up with the potential to slow things down. Guess I should have read that thread more carefully. I hate Mondays!

I know we have already finished off a couple of kittens with this thread, but I too would be curious if AE is still looking good for a release before the WitP 5 year anniversary. About a month ago, there were numerous comments from dev members and Matrix employees that it was indeed still looking good to release before the anniversary.

Any update on how the upcoming relase is coming along would be most appreciated. This close to the end, I feel safe in saying that the dev team wants it to be done just as much as we do [:D]

Keep up the great work! Any sorry that we all ask this so often, its just that we need to turn in our three week PTO slips ahead of time and we are just planning ahead.

Thanks

AE will be released when pigs fly.

But they have already. I've heard that Swine Flu earlier this month.

Keep in mind - regarding dates - that per the normal Matrix process - there will most likely be a "GOLD" announcement before the game is released - so the probability of waking up one morning and finding that it has been released is low - for regular forumites - they will see the "GOLD" announcement and then know that the game will likely be released in a few weeks.

I'll be ready for AE whenever you guys say it's ready for me.  I got plenty of bang for the buck with UV, even more with WITP and I expect more of the same with AE so the credit card is good to go.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

I'll second that. I really liked UV, and LOVE WITP. AE is going to be great. I'll order it soon as Matrix lets me.

Yeah. C'mon folks. I've a pretty rough schedule over here and to wind down is costing me serious euros in bars... (mine is still in the building stage). I'm bored and my liver needs an AE tonic. How bad can it be after three years? Let us test the final stages. Unless it is as bad AI wise as the 2004 stock version, release the hounds. Bummed in Greece (the chicks have yet to arrive in force).

Was it a bug or feature that will reappear in AE 1.01?

See? They're all dead except the one. 1 more question about when it will be done will gack the last one and the whole basket can be tossed in the river.
