I wonder if the other US CV's that sank during the war also had such detailed photos taken while they went under.
Lex and Wasp have both the devastating shots taken at the dramatic moment which saw them engulfed with flames (these were among the most spectacular explosions pics I could remember of when I was young, and they still are), but AFAIK I never saw anything like that for Hornet. Never saw a japanese shot of the burning carrier taken from the DD the next morning either...
