Sept 19-22nd 1942............

I've lost 2 subs to ASW TFs in the last few turns......mostly in shallow water trying to get at Steven's Transports at PM..........

Unleashed my Bettys this turn........20 Bettys(out of the 45 deployed at R....and 32 A6M2 escorts .......I lost 1 Zero and 5 Bettys.....but hit one AP....the Adelong...she was reported sunk........
Sorry ...meant to say Steven's CAP over PM was a mix of Kittyhawks and Wildcats........around20 of the first and 15 of the second........also his PM groundforces are up to 550 AV versus my 330......although I have another 4o AV 1 day out.......after that?......

Sept 23rd 1942............

Sent myZeros on a sweep over PM.....as expected after my last air-raid......Speedy had everything on CAP........I had hoped for a concentrated sweep......but 4 seperate ones went in..............the upshot was I lost 17 Zeros.......he lost 40 P-39s......7 Kittys....and 2 Wildcats......although it was nice to kill the P-39s ....the cost was far too high.....the groups will stand down this turn.......

Hi Guys.......sorry for the slow updates.......v. busy at work.........

Steven and I have played up to the 6th of Oct....1942....

The highlights of the last few game turn involved me losing 2 CLs and a handful of AKs when resupplying Buna......also Hiei was hit by 7 non penetrating 1000lbers....while bombarding Lunga.......and is out of action for the next 2 weeks........but Junyo has arrived and I'm moving to Invade as we speak....sadly Speedy has snooped my TFs as they gathered Northeast of Rabual......and must know I'm coming......the next 4 turns will decide this game.......

Oct 8th 1942.........

My Invasion of Milne Bay is underway...........a CL and a DD hit mines on the way in........no surface action....but once the sun rose Speedy threw every land based aircraft at me.....my CAP, flying from Zuikaku/Junyo a CVL and a CVE........managed to hold them off.....with only two of the transports hit.......Speedy lost over 50 aircraft...mostly low flying P-39s..........I lost 18 Zero's........the first wave is ashore..

Now for the bad news.......an enemy TF was spotted by one my picket subs moving on MB from the SouthEast.....there is no doubt these will be the USN Carriers.......and although my initial losses were slight......2/3rds of my Zeros are damaged.......but I've decided not to run.....I'd be caught anyway......and try to get as many men ashore as I can............I had counted on having 4-5 days before his CVs showed up.......but I only have one.........the next turn with be carnage.

I assume Shokkaku is still in the shop for repairs?

Oct 9-12th 1942........

Well......I did get two extra days.......and could of had more as Steven's CVs stayed away.......but his B-17s hit Junyo.......she'll be fine, but will need 20 days in the shop........I've moved away from MB with 1/2 a regiment still on board.......as all my ships are out of AA ammo.......sadly one of my TFs didn't get the order......and I lost 5 AKs to his SBDs as they lingered a bit too long at MB........

Will refit.......and try and land more in 20 days time........as we are about 1-1 at MB at the moment.......and I lack the shipping to land enough force to take MB until the invasion TFs reach Truk......

Lost another sub to his ASW TFs woring in the waters south of Lunga......

Steven will commit his carriers next time I hit MB........so must think of how to deal with this...

Oct 13th 1942..........

Lost an APD and a AKL to allied DDs at Tass..........supply is critical at Tass......

Put all my Bombers at Rab. on ASW missions to try as Steven is clearly trying to track my Damaged Carrier(with is now disbanded at R.).......and had 5 seperate subs reported hit....although this might be FOW.........

Allied LRB hit my troops at MB..........

Other than that a quiet-ish day......

Sorry for the slow updating.....due to , first not much happening....as I prep'd the next wave of the MB operation.......then due to work commits.

We are up to........Nov. 6th 1942............

Over the last few turns Speedy has known not only my interntions.......easily guessed....but also alot about my forces......d*mn siginit......and has been taunting me to....'bring it on'........I waited an extra 4 days for Hiyo to Arrive........and with all my CVs in tow made a move for Tass. just a faint really as my picket subs spotted his CVs off MB waiting......

I pushed in 2 fast SAGs .......with 1CA 1CL and 4DDs....one for Lunga....one for MB......to keep him on his toes......both were met by BB SAGs....and destroyed.....one DD escaped.....

Speedy then began reinforcing MB.......My Bettys put 3 toprs into S. Dakota(no real damage).........and one of the transports ....and the next turn I doubled back with the main fleet.....

Speedy had moved his CV main body toward Guad.....taking the faint........so my carriers attacked his shipping at MB.......the land based CAP and I expect a CVE or 2......shredded my airgroups.....S. Dakota was hit by another 3 torps......but seemed to be in good shape....at last reports.......my MB invasion force is tring to make Buna......drop off what it can.....before Stevens main fleet arrives.....

My air losses mean this is probably the end of the road to any real offensive power......and with this scenario,,,,,,a grim outlook......if somewhat historical!

Ouch. Apparently he was already on his toes . . . were they all 16" modern battleships or did he scrape up some Pearl Harbor survivors?

Hi Capt..........modern ones.......who gave good account of themselves......

Oct 7th 1942.......

The main fleet heading for Buna......hit allied shipping around MB again today.....hitting S. Dakota with another torp....that's now 7 in total across 3 turns......and she's still going strong......now that's good damage control.......also taged Hornet with 1.....no damage reported.......but I lost over 100 aircraft......so the fleet is running .......exept for the Yamato/Mutsu SAG......which will close on MB.....and one of the transport groups will push on to Buna.......I expected Steven to close on my AAGs and finish the job....having destroyed their airgroups.........and so follows the combat report of the 8th....Thread help me.......

Ugly as sin....brother Mynok.............

Mutsu and Zuiho sank.........Zuikaku may sink ....but is out of this game for sure....Junyo is only lightly damaged....but has 3 major flt damage....which I can't repair at Truk....or anywhere on map for that matter.......Enterprise and NC both seemed to be only lightly damaged........

Oct 8th 1942............

Speedy withdrew..........it must have been tempting to stick around and try and cripple hunt.....but he must be looking after his own cripples........

Lost 5 AKs unloading at Buna and Lae......

Otherwise the calm after the storm.....

That wasn't pretty.
But it sure was spectacular!
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Hi Guys.......a long calm after such action........we are up to

Nov 20th 1942..........

The last month has been mostly me running in fast transports to all areas........and me hitting what shipping I can at MB......with 6-8 transports sunk......with a loss of 2 APDs and an AKL.....

Last turn a Bombardment group hit MB and found Chicago(damaged) sheltering there...(lost a DD to mines on the way in)......then I sent in Betty/Nells on port attack........and found South Dakota(still afloat after 7 torp hits)....and Enterprise hiding in port.......Enterprise was hit by a bomb......

Now, how to kill these cripples.......my Betty/Nells seem to only port attack with bombs.....and I have another 25 days until my CVs can sortie again........

Any Ideas?
