The attacks on France that we were expecting at the Savoy and the Maginot line a few turns back were never carried out. We don't know if our own defensive counter-measures prevented them before they even got under way or if these new Axis troops were a defensive measure by the Axis powers who never intended to attack in the first place.

Now, with the Germans occupied in several new theaters, the time is ripe to open a new front at Belgium. Couriously, not being a member of the Western Alliance themselves, the USA can concvince Belgium to join instead. (Western diplomatic influence is competely spent now for some time to come).

But can Germany fill the line or will the French be able to break into Holland and North Germany? French units are moving in the direction Brussels.

Denmark and Yugoslavia are in a deadly struggle for survival as the German aggressor subjugates more European minors. Meanwhile French units are marching into Belgium in the hope to find a weakly defended Belgian German border.

After a relatively quiet first year, Europe finds itself suddenly embroiled in war in five independent campaigns/theaters.

The Russian high command grudgingly salutes the Finnish commanders for their excellent defense that lasted for the better part of nine month now and is still holding. But we are eager to reduce the number of theaters by one now. The German will follow suit elsewhere.

The Belgian coup did not work out. The Germans can hold a much longer front than we though possible. (but there are a few gaps in the east).

Denmark has to surrender this turn and is firmly in German hands. Yugoslavia is overrun but at the East Front the Red Army conducts minor winter offensives.

Winter has arrived in force and we push a bit deeper into the gap near Gomel. Maybe we can force some retreats. In worst case we loose two red army infantry corps.

We re-occupy Estonia and are happy with the general direction of the German movements in the Baltic.

While the front with Germany is almost without fight, young Soviet tank commanders shout for more action. Soviet military leaders consider to attack either Sweden, Turkey, Romania or Persia to satisfy them. The order does not really matter since Communist Domination is predicted to take over all of the world anyways according to the Bolshevik doctrine. Romania may be the most aggressive and forcing but we are still a bit weary of the German tanks and just escaped a major German invasion. Sweden - short of amphibious operations - is a long infantry march trough tough terrain and we just had that in Finland. We chose Persia as it will keep our back free from German friendly governments (and poor Persia did never see any action in any of the games I played and I wanted to change that). So Persia it will be - in a few more weeks of preparations.

Preparation for a Persian campaign continue. Most of our tank force is now in Transcaucasia and needs to be moved into position.

The Red Army's Persia campaign is under way and the Germans occupy themselves in still independent Lithuania.

Good Luck with Persia, looks like the Germans feel fine in letting you slowly push them back to the polish border.

Any movemnt in the west or are the lines still staying the same?

Hello DBake, thank you for the comments.

Yes, the Germans withdraw willingly in the Baltic states. They know that they will need the units that are freed up by the shortening of their lines elsewhere later this year.

The German - French/Belgian line is pretty much identical to the original borders. I did not show it since it is always the same. In the early war it is the German who has to prove themselves here. The French can only mount 1:1 attacks at this border. This is close to suicide.

After bringing in Belgium, all Western Allies are short of Diplomatic points and have to save again. Hence we cannot attack Italy or Spain either lacking the necessary DPs. But our time will come. We are close to another Tech upgrade and while the Germans have higher tech since long, they cannot upgrade widespread since their upkeep cost would gothrough the roof.

I will post a picture of the Western front shortly.

The Western front is quiet except for some smaller commando raids.

Having hardly any losses over the last months and low upkeep, the Red Army is swelling in size. All units are of low quality though. In the early portions of the war, we favored to spend for defense and not in fancy new tank technology. Now that it seems that we are holding, this premise has changed. But it will be some time until the research will bear fruits.

Russian surplus allows to prepare for yet another new army group. Once ready we will open up another theater. It will be month until it will see action.

Lithuania and Persia are the most active battlefields of early 1941.

We have not seen the German armor in quite some time. What are the Germans up to. We cannot believe that the steel monsters are just rusting somewhere near Berlin.

We elongate the Axis front to include Romania and hope that the Axis has a hard time defending in time.

Germany deploys for the first time their new heavy L3 armor in Romania. Is the Red Army running into a trap?
