Hmmm, interesting. So rather than having you both starve you both decide to eat healthy, LOL
RE: Attn: Japanese Economics Ministers
Do the Japs need to haul any resources from far away? It seems in my game that Port Arthur and Shikuka produce more than enough between them. Fuel is what needs to be shipped home from the SRA.

No, in my experience you can hold HI stockpile level with just those two. OTOH, you are not building up your stockpile either. In general I will pick up resources anytime I am moving empty merchies in the direction of the HI. They may not be going all the way back, but if they are just moving in the right direction I never move them empty. An exception to this is the merchies with a significant liquid cargo tankage; if I load those with resources they will also pick up oil.

I assume that you're including shipments from Hokkaido in your calculations too?ORIGINAL: Miller

Yes sorry, forgot to mention Sapporo, in fact my AK convoys cannot keep pace with the resources produced from these bases.

Has anyone else noticed that Sapporo is always at the same level of resources no matter how many merchies you have going there? It seems to be unlimited and therefore what a great island to build up your HI!!
RE: Attn: Japanese Economics Ministers
Stupid question, what would be a good amount of HI saved for when the Allies start to bomb HI with B29's? I have over 500k saved in 11/43 what do I need to get it to by mid/late 44.

heh - i was going to start one of these but made of quick bullet points along the lines of - increase bettys to 150, increase Zeros to 175, shut down xxx, increase xxx blah blah blah - would it still be of any use - im just going to to trawl the threads and build a definitive guide to what to press and do with prod/frames and engines and factories on day 1 - strategy and conquests aside just what to do with all the rest

Yup. What I suspect is going on is that all the resources (minus a certain number the AI deems is necessary for industry in the hex) at Sapporo are shipped to Hakodate, resource centers produce, and then HI/LI uses what it needs. If that is the case, the number of resources at Sapporo will never change.

I don't have a good answer for that. My philosophy is that the more you have, the longer your economy will function after you're cut off from the SRA.
Resources and oil are also good to stockpile (because they can't be destroyed, only captured) but they need industry (which can be damaged) to be converted into something useful (fuel, supply and HI). Fuel and supply can be destroyed, but HI can't.

Anyone playing Scenario 2 as Japan? Because we get twice as many pilots in "school" as in Scenario 1, our monthly training cost is twice what it is in Scenario 1. The Tracker guys estimate that by 1944, we'll have so many pilots in school that our monthly HI cost will be 111,000 heavy industry. [X(] See this post/thread: fb.asp?m=2379735
Does anyone have any ideas how to cope with that extra HI burden in Scenario 2? It more than offsets the extra resources and oil we get at game start, or so it seems to me. I don't see an easy way to reduce the huge number of pilots we'll have in school, unless we simply suck every last of the 4000 "replacement" pool pilots into squadrons and then into reserve, and *then* draw thousands more "trainee" pilots into the squadrons/reserves. (I'd worry about breaking the game if I did that.) TRACOM will help a little, but not much.
The upshot seems to be that in Scenario 2, we may actually have to be more budget-conscious than in Scenario 1, unless I'm missing something. [:(]

I might just take you up on that! I imagine my opponent might want the same opportunity, but then again, he doesn't have much Production to worry about.Grotius, as I have offered to many others in the past (and I think I've helped them ) - when you want, send me a savefile and we'll talk turkey
