RE: Urgent Fury SITREP
Why are you landing on the tail end of Java? It would seem to be better to land somewhere in the middle to split his forces. OTOH, a January landing is very impressive. If you take Java quickly, this will really free you up for other, deeper conquests. (I would recommend Perth/Kalgoorlie.)

I don't have enough assets to quite commit to facing 2 fronts in the Middle of Java. I may jump down the island with the SNLF units if the time seems right later. Right now I just want him to get rattled some before my invasion at Oosthaven in a turn or two.
RE: Urgent Fury SITREP
Seems like a good move, you already get an airbase on Java and a counter-attack is unlikely with the weak Dutch forces. It's possible though, but if that happens you can jump in with a second landing behind his advancing troops. The only problem is that you'll need good air cover even for a small landing, as the loss of Yamashiro illustrates.

Here are the latest Highlights. I must admit I thought for sure some disaster was going to happen when I seen those Vindicators flying from Java. They got a few ships, 2-3 I think but nothing that prevented the landings.

Operation Winter Harvest: First convoy encounted, 2 AMC's up against some DD's and AP's at night, no hits. Another ships was encountered, no escort and was sunk. I'm thinking his important convoys, troops and a/c's are escorted. I'll take what is given until he starts having warship patrols. Then Winter Harvest is closed and moved else where later.
Operation Urgent Fury: First IJA fighters arrived to provide cover. As more airbase assets arrive, bombers will be brought in. I'm quickly finding out that HA-32 engines are critical to keeping bomber production up to standards I need to keep air war going. [:(] I'm keeping back some SNLF units to jump up the island soon, it looks as if an opportunity will open up for this move. [;)]

Opinion Needed
Hello all, I need an opinion on bases in general in Solomons and DEI. I've been thinking about 2 different strategies and I need to decide now while I'm move assets around to start.
A: Should I occupy the most prosperous bases and leave the dot hexes and poor bases empty that way most of my strength is together but less bases to deploy fighters/bombers?
B: Occupy most bases and build up some good dot hexes into bases and have lots of airfields to use if some should fall?
I'm leaning more toward A, but something in the back of my head tells me that giving some bases away will give him enough of crack that it will soon flood my defense.
If given enough time I may go with a blend of A and B, but I don't expect Ace to give me much.

RE: Battle of Timor Sea
Because Alied CVs were in port, likely.ORIGINAL: cap_and_gown
I thought Wirraway was being too aggressive with his carriers. But then he seemed to have escaped. But obviously you caught him. Congratulations.
I wonder why the allied strike was so weak? (It is not because the Lex was sunk: in CV battles, both sides are flying simultaneously, even though the Japanese strike is resolved first.)

Absolutly A Option better IMHO.
Best of lucks !

Since I have a picture of my defenses in the Solomons in my AAR, I would take a look at that for my own answer.
RE: Opinion Needed
I would go for A
I would go for Suva and use it as forward operating base
maybe split up KB into 3 groups?
banzai!

RE: Latest Newpaper
I've studied your defenses CAG, I love what you've done but I don't think I'll have the time to be so nice. I'm going to go with plan A initially. Once key locations have been fortified to my standards I'll start building backup locations one at a time until I reach a point where all the good locations have been fortified, no spreading thin on any areas.
Port Morseby news: I've decided to pull out of PM for now, to rebuild my strength of 66th Inf Group and to assault with the 66th plus several Naval Guard units in tow.
Midway Strike news: Ground forces are massing, naval forces are on the way to Guam, once all come together they will move toward Midway and VICTORY!

Latest SITREP
Game pace is patchy right now, Ace is busy guy [;)] Date is 30 Jan. 42
SUB SITREP (for lack of activity and to get main report starting at beginning of the month here is a summary)
War Patrol B
I-1 sank 1 Cargo and 1 Destroyer
I-4 sank 1 Tanker
I-7 sank 2 Cargo
Winter Harvest
sank 1 small cargo
Future reports will be on the map [;)]
Here is a Task Force SITREP. My western sub patrols have been hard to get going do to blockading Sumatra and lack of boats in the area. This will be changed since Rangoon is now in my hands and a great port to set off from. New war patrol zones will be put in place, these are coming out soon for you to see.
Most screens are roving instead of static, I don't like to send many boats out to their potential doom.
KB Bravo is pickup up Vals and the new CVL Shoho I believe. This TF will cover my Midway landing force which is in the process of assembling at Guam. I have 2 engineer units included to help knock down any fortifications in place. If assualt goes badly in the first 4 days I'm pulling out. I've bashed my head against Midway before and it pins my fleet in place to long. I should have overwhelming numbers I think I have close to 400 AV ready to land. If this goes well then Johnson Island is next right after the dead are buried.

Sub War Patrols
Here is my new operational plans for my subs. I will not have any reserves to fill in any losses. Hope to have all these zones up to minimums by late Feb.

Latest SITREP
Okay Gentlemen, this is for your eyes only. None of this material leaves the room.
Here is the current situation in Burma. The British have been very timid and have been pulling back the bulk of their forces, leaving only rear guard units to slow the advance down some. Air activity has been at nothing for both sides, Rangoon is still under repairs but will be up within days. We will be bring in more bombers and fighters. Air base units are in short supply due to needs of other theaters so this might be a potential problem.

RE: Latest SITREP
Okay, here is the situation for Java. This operation is going to plan. We will be inserting forces behind the dutch forces in effort to destroy them in piecemeal fashion. More air units are also underway here. Some of the airbase units that should of gone to Burma where routed here. Units are outside of Palembang now but probably don't have the strength to displace the Aussie units suspected of being there so after Java falls a full push will be made in Sumatra. Solomons and China will be the next briefing in awhile.

RE: Latest SITREP
Here is N. China. I'm hoping my push north might get WA to send some units north. If he doesn't and I reach Lanchow I will commence another part of my plan, the detail will come later. The push toward Yenan is going well, expect to take it with little problem. My push toward Sian will stall but that is all I expect as of now.
