Cherkassy looks very open assuming you've done your recon. Biggest issue is your railheads are WAY behind the front now.

Yep, and that has me worried. If I can get across the river in the next turn ot 2 I might have to pause and my armor and let them catch up some.

Gobble up as much as you can when you can - rest is for the weak...or maybe the weekend.  If you can get across the Dnepr in force you will threaten a lot, even if you have to rest up then.

Roll Tide!

ps: This is my generic support, so as not to accidentally tip off anything. Loose lips sinks ships. Or panzers in this case.[;)]

Turn 5

No screen shots this turn because not much happened. Almost an admin turn while rail catches up and my infantry fully come on line across the front.

In case any one saw, and I emailed Tillius, my mouse button stuck and I went into his AAR by accident for about 5 seconds. Did not read but exited.

Last of the southern pocket died today, so all forces now closing on the front. 17th Army will take another turn or 2 to reach the Dnepr River.

Infantry have reached Pskov and are replacing the Panzer troops. 1 Panzer div has crossed the river. The other panzer Corp has been sent north to the coast.

Basically, I have out run my supply lines and need to let them catch up. So in the south, all Panzer Corps are resting along the river. 6th Army is almost to Kiev. The marshes are almost clear to the River from hell.

2nd Panzer is resting while 4th Army reaches the Dnepr to prep of a forced crossing.

Please tell me you are taking these screenshots prior to making all your moves. You need to keep your corps Hq's within 5 hexes of the divisions assigned to it or they will not be getting much fuel or ammo nor will they get any support. Another hint is to never leave your hq's in a hex by themselves where the enemy might get at them. On turn 2 he could have really hurt you by displacing the two 4th panzer hq's I saw on the screenshot that were just east of the river. If he could have displaced them, not only would they lose their stockpiles of fuel/supplies/ammo, but he may have got lucky and killed a commander.

Yes, all screen shots are pre end of turn. All HQ's are moved to units before turn end. Also most screen shots are pre recon.

Learned that one a long time ago and paid the price for it. LOL

I take screen shots as something happens, like completing the southern pocket, but before all units have been moved etc.

The only time a HQ is alone is when there is no chance at all of it being displaced.

Well that's good to hear, I didn't figure you were a dummy having the 2nd ACR as your handle.

Never even thought that.

Best Regiment in the Army. Best Armored Cavalry Regiment by far. When they were a true ACR anyway. Now a Stryker Brigade.

Is there any true ACR left, like 2 and 3ACR in Desert Storm?

The 3rd is still an ACR and the 11th is the NTC training brigade so technically they are armored too.

Where is your air recon? You need to be able to see what is going on in depth so you can make some sort of plan ahead of time. If you wait until you are on his main defensive line to find it, it will be a bit late to try and do anything other than bulldoze your way thru.

Recon must be done FIRST! Always! I must click a thousand times doing recon before I make a move. The Soviet rear is utterly splattered with recon symbols. Then I hit F11 and try to see where I've missed and recon those spots.

500-600 recons a turn. No less. Do it.

So you're saying my plan to save on recon costs through employing psychics isn't a good plan?

"Whoosh". That's the sound I heard as your Panzers hit the hole and busted through into open space.

Turn 6

Rough turn but with some decent new too. I have out run my rail in the South and that is hurting me. Plus the double pocket in the first 2 turns have set 17th Army way behind schedule. They are still strung out and marching for the Dnepr.

Supply and fuel effects are being felt all along the lines. Luckily my infantry are fully on the line in the north and 90% of the Central front.

6th Army has reached Kiev.

But, the good news is I am over the Dnepr in 2 places. That gives me my starting point at least.

Turn 6 North Zone 1

Here I swept a Panzer Corps up to the front where recon showed nothing, the recon gave it away and he shifted troops to meet me.
