Nice…
I really like this Mod.
And I just want to say thanks for making it.
One thing that I notices was that Hex X88. Y39. has the city Dubno in it, but when I mouse over it says the city name is Adreapol.
Again thanks for making Place Names Mod.[:)]

Thanks. I also noted that Toropets was miss-spelled. Both are corrected and uploaded as Patch 2 to the Wiki. That is a 'with hexes' fix as I don't get the impression that anyone is playing with hexes off...

Since I installed your first mod, I started playing with hexes off and got to like it. I don't want to add to your workload and am happy with what I've got, but if you get round to an update on the hexes off version, you will have at least one taker. [:)]

Thank you for doing this! I'm a No Hex guy myself.
Much prettier I think without them!

Map 14 no hexes has been fixed and uploaded to the Wiki.
Please note that Tarhunnas has spotted several more misspellings on various maps. These probably result from me starting the mod using GoranW's edited place names map and then failing to fix 100% percent of them when I did the mod over using the place names actually in the game map. I've asked him to send me a list with map numbers so I can release a full patch quickly, but many of the differences are fairly trivial.

I'm in Hertfordshire, actually, but travel into London most days on business. I will do some more front lines, probably one or two per year.

Some German towns in East Prussia/West Prussia are misspelled. The only ones I've seen so far. BTW, excellent work!
Goldor = Goldap
Graudenze = Graudenz
Deutsch Elau = Deutsch Eylau
Gotenhaven = Gotenhafen

I've been stuck in rainy London for the last few years
As this is a game (and thread) for detail obsessives, I have to point out that the annual rainfall in London is very low. I've lived in Wimbledon (SW corner of London) for 20 years and it only rains during Wimbledon fortnight.
As a complete detail obsessive I have to admit the tennis isn't actually in Wimbledon but in Southfields.
PS- I've just seen that redmarkus lives in Hertfordshire. Much wetter there.

This is the new thread for what was originally called "My Version of the Frontline Mod."
I know I'm useless at computers but I followed the intructions for the 'with hexes' version, downloaded then extracted to \Art\zoom2 folder but am unable to see any placenames still on my multiplayer game. i've started without hexes on ( as per instructions) then with hexes on and still nothing. I also tried starting a new scenario to equal lack of placenames whether I started with or without hexes
Anyone got any good ideas please?

RE: (REL) Place Names Mod by Redmarkus
Sorry - I am away on an extended business trip.
How did you extract the files to the folder? You need to replace the original images with the new ones you have downloaded. Check to make sure that you have not merely placed an extra Zoom2 folder inside the original folder.
Here's another way to make sure - back up your art folder first (copy it to some other place on your hard drive) to avoid having to reinstall if it goes wrong!:
1. Instead of extracting the Zip directly to the game folder, extract it to a new folder on your desktop.
2. Open up the folder you just extracted and Select All the images there. Now copy them (Ctrl+C).
3. Find your C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\Zoom2 folder and open it up. Paste the images in (Ctrl+V) and let them overwrite your original images.
4. Double click on one of the new images now sitting in C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\Art\Zoom2 to confirm that it has map place names on it.
5. Start the game and zoom in to Zoom 4, 3 or 2. You should now see the place names.
PM me if that doesn't work.
Cheers,
M

Thanks. I have an overdue list of name corrections to do and a mod to incorporate from another modder that adds symbols to show town sizes. Will do that as soon as I can.

any chance you could work with authors of this map mod to incorporate your place names mod to work with it.
