I haven't forgotten the staff map btw. First try was a disaster - blurry/out-of-focus/wild variations in exposure - which is a pain... and I haven't had time to sit down with it and do it right. (Which might be ditching the scanner and reverting to a camera).

Should be a little freer in a few days/week or so, and I'll give it another go.

Hello!
I'll follow your progress!!
I do know that scenario design is not so simple. That's why I think Panther guys are great!

I may crop the Nancy map into smaller pieces and make some short scenarios.
I would also like to try some multiplayer which I think would be challenging and very fun.

Cool! Multiplayer is the best way to play this game. People seem to be 'trapped' in playing against Ai, but MP is very challenging and fun and tense.
But, of course, scenario lenght and size have to be not too huge... 5-7-10 days scenarios are too commiting for MP.

Main problem is to arrange times and days, but is not impossible.
Give a glance to

(Another problem is GMT. Where you come from? I live in Rome. I am GMT +1/+2, and there are a few guys from German, Poland, France, and of course Italy).

I have to wonder if anyone uses Skype or TeamSpeak while playing Multiplayer games?
The game chat works without problems!
(But: pay attention to filters with MP. Don't use filters for messages from the battlefield!! Filters from the battlefield filter chat too)

bye!

Can you save a MP game in progress and load the save later? Don't know, never tried it... but that might make a longer scenario workable.

OF COURSE, YES!!

Against AI command ops is very interesting, but against human opponent is a very different matter!

IMHO
- wargames against AI are interesting, but... after a while, they become very boring
- turn based wargames against human... a little bit better
- on line wargames like command ops... 1.000 times better
hands off!

bye!

Very close to finishing the contours...Just have the top left hand corner of the map to go over.Need to go around and make the rivers and streams a bit better by rounding off the the bends in them....will not take too long.Hoping to wrap this map up by Monday...Thanks for the update on the staff map Lieste...No hurry for me to have it available.

Dear Sweeteye,
speaking about user made scenarios

What do you think about a dramatic battlefield as... ANZIO?

http://www.history.army.mil/books/wwii/ ... zio-fm.htm

From the index...
THE ALLIED OFFENSIVE (30 January-1 February)
Attack on Cisterna, 30 January
Attack on Cisterna, 31 January-1 February
Advance to Campoleone

or...
THE ENEMY ATTACKS (3-12 February)
Battle of the Campoleone Salient
The Beachhead Defense
The Factory and Carroceto
Allied Counterattacks

or..
THE MAJOR GERMAN OFFENSIVE (16-20 February)
Preparing for the Attack
The First Day, 16 February
The Second Day, 17 February
The Crisis, 18-19 February
The Battle is Won, 19-20 February

If you have done Omaha...

bye!

(I live in Rome, Anzio is very near)

Excellent source of info Ulisin! I am glad you brought this to my attention. The maps look very usable for a scenario and game map. I will certainly consider this information for my next project. I am on the home stretch of the Nancy map. Just a few details left to put in and some rounding out of the bends in the streams and it is done.

sweeteye,

Just a suggestion in case you are unaware. When drawing conmtours I tend to use control points rather than corner points. you can choose which in the MapMaker. The control points in effect work like a bezier an so can be bent to form nice curves. This can often result in fewer overall points. However, they do make the map a little bigger but nowdays with the amounts of ram we have that's not such a problem.

Thanks for the tip Arjuna....I believe I will look into using control points on my next project.Seems like it would save a lot of time and effort. I shyed away from using them because I was a bit uncomfortable with them but I can see now it would be worth the time to get used to using them. Unfortunately the overlay I used for my current project was a bit fuzzy to say the least and resulted in a very poor map for drawing over. Thanks again ....also...I am really enjoying working with this game.
