I didn't see it mentioned so I'll throw this out there...

There's an old program called Aide de Camp by HPS Simulations. It basically lets you design (or re-create) any board game (board, units, graphics, playing aides). Of course there's no AI and you'll have to apply your own rules but I believe it's playable by PBEM. Back in the day there was a lot of support for it so someone may have already created a 3R gameset.

I haven't fired up this program in 10 years and was amazed to see that it runs on Win 7.

Aide de Camp is not freeware afaik. There are some free alternatives around like Cyberboard, Vassal and Zun Tzu. All these have hundreds of gameboxes incl. all 3rdR incarnations. Vassal and Zun Tzu allow also online gaming in real time (Zun Tzu has chat build in)while all three allow PbEM gaming :)

Hi Crossroads !

Hardrive failure at the end of March has set me back. I'm working on several projects for the 3.5 release, and I had to spend weeks working on stuff for those. One of the things I did have backed up was the 3R scenario, so I'm still able to work on it, but its very event heavy and tedious. I did lose the graphics file, if anybody knows what it was, do tell, thanks!

Wow. Not seen Third Reich in ages. Same with ADC. Checked the HPS site and they still sell it for $50.

This begs a question. I assume you are testing 3.5, otherwise how could you make scenarios for it and have them properly tested for release, eh? What about the saps who are not 'on the inside'? I'm guessing there will be a public test like last time but still, there isn't nearly as much time as alloted the testers. Seems kind of lopsided. Heck, they don't even know what's going on with it.

I can only speak for myself. I was asked to put together test scenarios and to test aspects of ongoing changes. Its no fun, and I'm certainly not on the inside. But it does give me the chance to work on scenarios I have in progress, and if time allows to update the completed ones.

Its been said before but I'll say it again, when the Beta v3.5 is actually working to the satisfaction of those that are on the inside, it will be posted here for everybody to crack into. It won't be released officially until that full test passes. Time is an issue for everybody. Nobody is holding up the release because someones scenario isn't ready.

Well, I made a bit of a mistake when I started working on this, in that I used 3.5 to put it together (I had no idea that 3.5 would take this long). If I had done it with 3.4, I could have posted it already.

It might be possible to import the separate components into 3.4, and then have them recombined for that version. I'll look into it.

And again, does anybody know where I can get the graphics that are seen in the previous posts ?

Cheers PanzerAbteilung,

That looks like GJKs mod, but I am not sure which version. I believe I have this one installed, and out of my memory it looks the same: http://forums.gamesquad.com/downloads.p ... le&id=1156

I could be wrong though, posting this from work (hush...)...

I will check over the weekend when I have a chance to dig into my gaming computer.

EDIT: Here's a picture he provided of his map mod, this is it isn't it:

In the editor, hit F8 and export it as a 3.4 scenario. Works fine, did this with Anzio 2km v2.4 that i initially began under 3.5. Check for divided units, though. Best to recombine them before the export (see my post about this issue in the dev forum).

I don't see how this works, F8 brings up a Save As box, I don't see how to save it as a 3.4 scenario.

Ok, it was the Voila part that I was missing !

Crossroads, give me a couple days to look at this, refresh my memory, and see if I need to do anything before it is ready for Beta Tests.

Thanks guys !

Take all the time you need, mate! I am afraid I am not much of an beta tester myself, given I am not that good with TOAW...

But the scenario is certainly of interest to me, what a lovely chance to revisit the scope & feel of the original board game :)

It will be playable, but we'll need someone familiar with Third Reich to run it thru and see what things should/might be adjusted in order to get it as close as possible. It doesn't take a lot of time, its a fairly quick scenario.

Initial version is Axis-Human vs. the PO. If that works out reasonably well, we can move on to a Two Player version.

Sure thing, you can count me in! Just warning I am not that good with the game engine itself.

I read through the 3rd Reich rule book out of nostalgic reasons when posting the OP, so everything should be reasonably fresh in my mind...

This one isn't going to work with 3.4, so we'll have to wait for 3.5. Sorry about that. [:(]
