Game to easy?

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Experience the full depth and detail of large turn-based strategy games, but with the simplicity and ease of real-time, and on the scale of a massively-multiplayer online game. Now greatly enhanced with the new Universe release, which includes all four previous releases as well as the new Universe expansion!

Hi guys,

I'll comment briefly here to note that a very significant amount of time has been spent during the development of Distant Worlds: Shadows to make it possible to scale the difficulty to make the game challenging for all kinds of players. In addition to AI improvements, there is the ability to give the AI advantages. Quite a bit of this is based on suggestions here since the first release. Hopefully it will give the veteran players that are able to beat the AI now a much more interesting game. In addition, there are a couple of new modes of play that should test the skills of even the best DW players.

Regards,

Hopefully Erik, your information may 'soothe some of the savage beasts' of late! Thanks for
the heads-up. [:)]

I think A.I suffers from some game design issues like the bloated economy and not understanding mass mobilization of ships that one can do when you have 20,000,000 space cash in the mid game stage onwards.Spies like mentioned are also not used well and the diplomatic, trade and growth system can also be exploited far too easily.

I have no interest in giving the A.I massive cheats as it kills the game thematic. Those Atuuk's are ment to be thick.

Yes, it's Distant Worlds: Shadows, which is a reference to the "Age of Shadows" in the Distant Worlds universe [8D]

Eriks posts above gave me a warm feeling. That was the exact info I needed to go from leary to optimistic re: the next expansion.

I also hope they look at the problem of too much money at the end of the game, as this seems to me to be more of a design flaw that you can't fix by having the AI work/cheat better.

A tweak of costs and colony upkeep would most likely fix the money problems.
