Overlord I - Day 8

Post by StoneAge »

Day 8: 81% cloud

Everybody is staying home today first full rest day.

Recon has spotted that one of his long range radars is back active and now has it's own Flak battery. I don't think I will hit it again maybe as a secondary target from high alt when I am bringing bombs back.

Damage points are going the right way roop strenght not so good (Need to hit more troops)

D1 677
D2 1046 +369
D3 1371 +325
D4 1874 +503

Overlord I - Day 9

Post by StoneAge »

Day 9:
Good weather again.
main aim of today is to hit all along the coast and try and get all his fighters into the air early.
This way I can make a deep run to Le Mans (350f and 333b all avaliable 1st div). Followed by a quick anti airfield Mozzie raid to Le Mans airfield 30mins later. Hopefully it will catch his fighters returning home as the airfield has about 80 planes.

Most of my short missions are going after troop's. I want to see what I can do about the troop points the germans are racking up. You will also see a rocket attack as he moved the flak batteries away from them and turned them into a safe target (Cheap damage points). Also these close targets can use the spitfires as escort and leave more long range fighters to cover the deep raid.

Overlord I - Day 9

Mission List:

Forgot to mention the FS that will lead the deep raid (467f). I have set the target for the FS to just short of Rennes with a patrol area just short of Le Mans and an exit track that follows the bombers back.

Part 1) The plan is to be near Rennes at 13:15 this hopefully makes him send his fighters towards Rennes.
Part 2) By this time the bombers should be crossing the coast heading for Le Mans
Part 3) My Fighters move to the patrol area just as the bombers get near to Le Mans (13:20 +)
Part 4) fighter fall back with the bombers and hopefully protect the lame ducks.

D9 2888 +135

Troop strength:

D9 26405 +296

My tactics for the day slowed the troop points a bit but it also slowed my damage points. In the last two day I have only put on 51 points damage in total.

my raids against his fields are starting to drive down his ready aircraft score. Another attack on a full AF near Rennes.

looks like Rennes and Avranches rail may be on the target list for the 11th. May also do a day light raid toward Calais Area just to make sure all the day fighters are not moved to far south.

AC losses:
Did not mean to but one of my FS was sitting too close to one of his airfeilds and shot down a number of returning aircraft. I don't like doing this as I think the air controller would send out a stay away warning.
