Another Beta Build or Final Patch

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Fixes:
  • Included Richard's changes to data as per RGS-update 20140614.zip
  • Mods to Resupply code to factor in task supply priorities into the priority of requests
  • Mods to StandardDisbandReassessment() factoring in cases where there is no AFVs left and scaling persThreshold
  • Commented out redundant assert in CanSlipAttack()
  • Refactored ScenDepot::AllocateAndDespatchSupplies() creating several sub functions to facilitate reading code
  • Mods to ScenFireEvent::AllocateAPerWeaponsToRangeBrackets() - revamped allocation of weapons to range brackets.
  • Mods to ScenFireEvent::DetermineAcquisitionAndHighExplosiveMod() - removed code that double dipped the reduction of unit density.
  • SMScenarioStatisticsDialog::OnInitDialog() now tests to see if we have any reinforcement schedules before trying to access them

Good to hear, looking forward to it.

Just my 2 cents to the initial topic.
Every time a beta gets changes there should be a new Beta, if that beta gets no changes anymore then you can make a final patch out of that beta it.
I saw often enough how game patches had changes that were not tested and it ended with a final patch that still had some serious flaws in it, so IF you change something a new beta is a MUST HAVE at least for me.

It's been almost a week since the build, but the Matrix Members forum only has the previous beta (.6278)

No no Arjuna posted on the 27th(Friday) that he wanted to put out a new build on Wednesday night so that is still to come, depending on how fast Matrix is I hope to see the build by the weekend.

Hmmm. It was my understanding that Arjuna posted Thursday (26) that he put out a new build the night before (Wed, 25).
I was hoping to try it out during the holiday weekend, but Matrix may have other plans for the 4th.

"Hurry up and wait" as there's still nothing new in the members forum.

Perhaps Matrix will need another reminder after the recent holiday as we can't test this latest patch until it becomes available to us in the Members Forum or some other venue.

Hi guys,

This is scheduled to release as an official update this week. It was waiting for a slot in the marketing schedule.

No offense but changes untested, vote ignored, I wonder what that is all about.
Anyhow I just hope the ball wasn't lost on these few last yards, wouldn't be the first time that an untested final patch was more trouble than help.

It looks like Dave and we miscommunicated. We're getting to the bottom of it and will make sure that if this needs to be a beta still, it will be a beta, otherwise official. I've put a brief hold on the release until we sort this out.

I guess that would be 'official' but without the conversion of the COTA data, in that case, since Dave seems to have intended it to be beta originally? I think converting the COTA and HTTR packs should have a slightly higher priority, imvho, as people have bought those packs but can't actually use them without doing something to them in mapmaker (at the very least), which isn't ideal, perhaps? It doesn't bother me because I find the 'conversion' operation in mapmaker very easy, but some people might be put off by such things, and having paid money for the packs might feel a tad miffed (yes, you can use them with the last good engine release for those packs, whatever it was, if you can find it, but that's to leave you behind vis a vis all the development work on the engine since then). Just a thought.
