Brad Pitt defeating Nazi Germany all on his own in his Sherman with semi realistic (at best) battle scenes. Feels like the "movie that should not be named" on land.

Any war movie coming out now, particuliarly if it is hyped, is going to be compared to "movie that shall not be named". It is unfair, but it is also true.

I remember when the "movie that shall not be named" came out. It even had a 2 hour TV special that was basically advertisement. I was laying in a hospital bed bemoaning my ill luck to be broken and missing the chance to go see the movie. I later found out that it was one more silver lining to the event that began by getting hit by a rockslide while driving home.

Achilles was a tank, so it will be a tank within a tank.

Is it really an impossibility to make a good movie set in either one of the world wars? There hasn't been one since the 1980s that I have seen besides the documentary Tali-Ihantala and HBO series Pacific and Band of Brothers. [:(]
Other than 'Saving Private Ryan' & the examples you mentioned, the only ones I can think of are 'Das Boot' & 'Stalingrad' - the 1993 release from Bavaria Studios (they also produced Das Boot, not the 2013 movie).

Advanced Squad Leader grognards will appreciate the depiction of 'Sewer Movement' in this movie.
