My longest-ever PBEM got into December 3, 1943 before my Allied opponent threw in the towel. The reason? I wasn't even beating the cr*p out of him; he simply lost heart because he couldn't bear the micro-management and specifically the overhead of prepping, planning, and retaking all of the islands I had captured up to this point. One hilarious bit (in hindsight) was when he landed an unprepped Marine Raider Unit on Ocean Island and found that I had an unobserved Naval Guard unit there. He got so mad at this tiny reverse that he concluded that playing this game with its "100 day rule" for the past 3+ years hadn’t been the smartest use of his time.

Instead of quitting, he should have formally surrendered. If he was a stand-up guy, he would have mailed you a bottle of Sake via snail mail.

I get no enjoyment from pummeling an opponent who is not having any fun, and who has no hope of making it a challenging game. However, there are ways to terminate a game that is a forgone conclusion without appearing to be an ass. I've never held it against an opponent to pull the plug when things are totally hopeless, and I wouldn't insist on a game to '45 if one side was simply on a roll and operations were the same difficulty as training maneuvers.

Feltan

I'd take this game in a heartbeat if I had another slot open. This is fun time for the Allies. How do you quit now?

Anyways, it would be a great challenge to try to pull this one out of the fire against a good and committed opponent.

Really ? If that were true no one would play Japan past '43

You notice I said no one. Since I most definitely have played in '45 as Japan, that means at least one JFB has gone the distance. Plus I'm sure I am not the only one either [:)]

You are not. In original WITP, I am playing Japan and the game is in April '45. We have been playing six years+. My opponent is a guy I have known and gamed with for over 40 years.

The situation is grim for me in that game, but the VP tally looks like we will go the distance into '46.

It is hard watching the endless bombing replays, but I just learned of the beauty of the F10 key during replay. Haven't tried it yet, but will shortly.
Hey, what does F10 key do?

Oops, sorry I was mis-informed. Try the F8 button during combat replays.
