RE: GD1938 Game 22
France-GB June 1939
-The devastating losses at Nantes mark the end of the French Army as an effective combat force. While it was possible to retake the city, there is no hope to retain it. Again, the power of Germany artillery was too overhelming even for well prepared defenses. The British considered seriously a massive air attack against German land units near Nantes, but the fighter squadrons of RAF are desperately in need of rest and replacements. Smaller attacks were made on the French coast in an attempt to lure the Lufwaffe in combat, but it was useless, at least no aircraft were lost.
-In the Marseille Front the Italian advance stalled, with Italian troops taking moderate losses to artillery and air attacks, it won´t matter anyway, since the Panzers will be soon at the doors of Marseille
-The German UB-boat force seems to be concentrated close to Canadian Coast. At least 4 U-Boats were sunk.
-In the Mediterranean, neither the Regia Marina nor the RN are making any attempt to engage their enemies

France GB-July 1938
1-In the Atlantic there was a significant decrease of U-Boat activity. More three submarines sunk last turn, but one British cruiser was also lost
2-Scandinavian Front: The Kriegsmarine achieved a minor victory over RN suface units. Three German destroyers sank against 6 destroyers and one British cruiser lost to the British. More 19 British submarines lost last turn. submarines. In a desperate attempt to delay the German land offensive, Whytleys and other obsolete bombers were sent to Scandimavia, being able to destroy some artillery pieces and a few trucks.
3-France: British forces are fortifying Brest. Bordeauz fell, German Forces in the Franco Spanish border. The RAF suffered a devastating defeat over France, with loss of more than 200 aircraft to 30 German Bf-109´s
4-No news in the Mediterranean area

Meanwhile in the Far East Peace still is reigning. Both China and Japan are building up their forces because they don't trust each other. But the Japanese hope that peace will continue. We (Japan) will not be the first to launch an attack but we will respond to any attack with all our might.

Oslo is under siege from land and sea, with what looks like a sizable naval force Light Cruisers and Destroyers blockaded in port. Marseille is now surrounded on the landward sides Germans to the West Italians to the North and East escape lies to the south to sea. Brest always the most difficult of French cities due to its lack of convenient airbases for Luftwaffe air cover is now sealed up while assets are brought to deal with this problem city.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
With France all but defeated, and situation in Scandinavia hopeless, the British are trying to buy time for a future Germany disembark in the British Isles
1-Brest: By the 1st time the RAF had a significant victory over the Germans. The new Spitifire I make its first action against the equally new Bf-109E. The Germans lost 70 Bf-109E, while the British suffered no losses. Coupled with British and French artillery from Brest, it was possible to decimate three divisions near Brest (however, only 10 tanks were lost). Unfortunately, a follow up attack by British troops in Brest suffered heavy losses, achieving nothing.
3-Marseille: The French decided not to evacuate the city and instead used all artillery and air assets in an attempt to break the siege. A significant number of German guns were destroyed
3-The Mediterranean Front: The RAF restarted attacks against Benghazi. A submarine and a few infantry units were destroyed, however, our pilots reported what seems a heavy tank in the Italian arsenal
4-Scandinavian Front. Oslo will fall next turn
5-Atlantic: A bad turn for the British, enemy U-Boats located but none were sunk

Oslo is captured as well as the port of Bergen, Marseille holds out. Stockholm shelled from the land and the sea.

Is this game trying to degrade relations between Japan and the USA? I did nothing but got improved relations with Haiti. I think this was a change caused by the "random" event code.

The "random" event causing changes in a positive direction (as well as that of negative direction) is completely random.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
Very cleverly played by the British making the Germans work hard for their final victory in France, wasting valuable time and resources, still Stockholm falls Marseille holds still though its streets must be choked with the dead, they suffer bombardment from the Germans and Italians this the 3rd month of punishment for the defenders surely they cannot take another.
The RAF are relentless in their attempts to gain mastery over the skies of France even if they do not control the ground, the German pilots that have survived this brutal air warfare have many aces among them, but half empty messes attest the cost of this experience gained.
Italy sits in stalemate with the British with the initiative.

The RAF cancelled air operations over France due to the heavy losses suffered up to now. All Spitifires are being reserved to counter a possible disembark of German Forces in the British isles. No German submarines sunk in the last two months.

October 1939
Germany has to thank the Italians for capturing Marseille, two German assaults first armor then infantry failed for the Germans. Again this was not without cost for the defenders, so weakened that the Italian mass attack succeeded. The Luftwaffe recover from the continual hounding by the RAF in Northern France, the Wehrmacht advance north into Norway, and finally Rumania joins the Axis doubling German oil production.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
The situation is worsening for the British, as our forces are being defeated in every battle, in the French (now Spanish) Front. Brest holds as the only French remaining city and is being reinforced. In the North African Front, our light bombers are achieving some success against the Italian in Bengazhi, but we still lack the land forces to take the city. A curious event was a aharp decrease in U-Boat activity in the Atlantic and elsewhere. The German subs simply disappeared, and cargo losses decreased by more than 50%. Are the German Uboats being called back to support a German disembark in the British Isles?

RE: GD1938 Game 22
The Germans and Italians have reached a quite phase almost all enemies on continental Europe that are immediately accessible have been defeated, the British are defiant and will remain so until they can be defeated. On the plus side, we can say that France is all but defeated and we are still in late 1939, the east however still remains in pro French and British hands.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
The Royal Air Force decimated German artillery units close to Nantes. Losses were relatively small for the British. More than 200 trucks and another 200 pieces of Artillery, most of them 150mm guns were destroyed.British forces moving to assault Benghazi. U-Boats inflict massive casualties to convoys from Canada but are inactive in other areas. On the other side, British submarines are interdicting German supply lines in the North sea.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
Decimated is perhaps to strong a word those decimated artillery laid a effective Barrage paving the way for a effective ground attack on Brest, the artillery amounted to three units though its true those three units were badly damaged, the other 3 more powerful units were unaffected. Brest sustained considerable damage most of the defending units down to 25% or lower readiness, considerable losses were sustained by the defenders, we are sure there is fight still in them.
The Swedish resource fields were captured by the Germans, bringing to a end Norwegian and British resistance.
Poland was forced at the point of German guns to return Danzig. The battle for Poland is underway.
Italy evacuated Benghazi unable to protect the boys on the ground from British air power. though the British did suffer a air raid by the Italians having themselves strayed to far from their protecting fighters.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
The Soviet Union has entered Polish territory to counter the German invasion. The German state has had great success in the west, and the USSR cannot allow the Poles to be defeated and incorporated into the Third Reich. We assume Germany was aware that attacking Poland would bring on war with the Soviets, and we are also considering this conflict to be the drive for Lebensraum predicted in "Mein Kampf". This means that the USSR must gear up for a massive conflict with a powerful enemy. We now join the British, French and Poles in the struggle against Germany.
The Soviet Union states that its war aims are the defeat of the German Military, and the establishment of a German government committed to peace with her neighbors. The USSR will fight Germany to the finish, and no other war aims will end our battle. We are aware that this will be a long conflict, and we are in it for the long haul. Our allies will find us steadfast.

RE: GD1938 Game 22
The German assault on Brest resulted in massive losses for the defenders. Aware of the stakes involved, the British armed forces threw everyting that could fly to counter the Germans. Results were mediocre, with fairly high losses in aircraft, and only a few German units destroyed. Bombardment by artillery from the Brest defenders were somewhat better. In desperation, the British commanders called the Battleships from both Marine Nationale and Royal Navy to help. In the end, the Germans lost more 200 pieces of artillery (10 SFT in game terms) and were left with few infantry to assault the city. The battle marked the first combat operations of our new Hurricane. Version IID is a formidable fighter bomber, able to carry 2x250kg bombs and armed with 4x20mm guns. There are few of them in combat but we hope it will be effective against German panzers that proved to be unstoppable up to now. The offensive against Brest resulted in a temporary pause of the operations in Spain. In the North Africa Front, Benghazi fell to the British. The only good news is that our Soviet allies are at war with Germans. Negotiations with a reluctant Polish government resulted in the creation of a national unity government including Polish communists. Poland now is a Soviet ally.

Brest proved a rock repulsing German attempts to take the city holding on by the thinnest of margins one French armored unit.
The Soviets push west Germany and Italy re position's to meet this new threat.
The Germans launch a Strategic raid on the British Chemical factory. With no losses.
