what's the difference between the two map mods? Plus, any special direction in installing? Thanks for the work

Same problem. I have installed maps before so I 'know' what to do. The maps are coded WPEH not WPEN so they don't overwrite the original map graphics. Is this the problem, or do you have to remove the original WPEN files and it then defaults to using the WPEH ones?

I just copy pasted everything into the ART map and clicked 'replace all' -> yes
So far now issues. Only annoying thing is that when i go to my desktop to do some other stuff and open the game screen the text screens are green!

Did the same procedure as Profender, worked fine. Beautiful map, very easy to spot things and also better for my eyes than the original map. Very much appreciated, MakeeLearn!

Is there anyway to get the overlays for base info/port/AF size possibilities on this? I wonder is there a map like this beauty but also has those over/lay indicators? Thanks so much!

FWI:

These new maps also seem to speed up scrolling rates, and reduce the mouse click delays greatly.

Probably because the older graphics aren't handled well by the newer graphics cards.

Thought I'd share this with the community.[;)]

Great map, thx for all the work.
Solid colour mixture, nice nuances and good visibility - all in all good map for a solid GUI.

I don't quite understand the purpose of the extended map. Should it just be copied into the art folder? What exactly does it add to the game? I've got the Kamakaze map working, and I just didn't want to mess it up.

thanks for any info.

The extended map is necessary for the "DaBigBabes-B/C" mods and their spin-offs. See https://sites.google.com/site/dababeswitpae/

I'm a new player having just purchased the game in the recent sale. I found the original map to be very "busy" for my old eyes. I perused the forum for map mods and found this one. I have to say it is gorgeous, and thank you for creating and sharing it. On other hand, my wife says it is harder on her eyes and she does not like to look at it. That may turn out to be a good thing. [:D]

If you haven't already seen these tutorial videos for the game, they are fantastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMWDuJL ... 8xO8Wzi4JG

Yes, I have seen them. They are very helpful. Thanks for posting the link again; there may be others who have not yet seen them.

I was running my stock map on my desktop and on a side table I had my gaming notebook playing the tutorials. I immediately decided I wanted those graphics, so I downloaded and installed the Kamikaze map and the update.

I see this too, is this why my new images won't work?

Update: I turned hexes on and the maps work now. I guessed that the "H" in the names stood for hexes, it was\is.

Yes, the WPEN files are for NO hexes. The WPEH are With Hexes.

How can I get this extended map ( download only has WPEH files ,there are no WPEN files) to work. I do not like seeing hexes on the map. So , if the download does not have any WPEN files , what do I do to use and view this map free of hexes.

Given the fact that the maker of the map has created only a WPEH version i.e. map panels *with* hexes, you cannot use and view this map free of hexes unless you make your own version of this map without hexes.
