Here, with some basic labels, is the situation in China.
1=Sinyang. Chinese units captured Sinyang on January 10th, destroying the AAF unit and construction unit there in the process. AV was 1013 at the time. When the Japanese returned on January 18th there was about 800 AV worth of units there after I moved one down in the failed attack on Hankow.
4 days later, Japanese reinforcements arrived and commenced trying to kick the Chinese out. by then I knew trying to take Hankow was foolish, so I had the army at Sinyang hold the base as a blocking force to cover the army that was leaving Hankow.
They were forced out on February 5th and the remnants were down to 40 AV, but they held back the Japanese, caused something like 170 losses in vehicles, and bought time keeping the Changsha mess cut off from railway movement.
2=Withdrawal from Hankow.
Seeing a stack of 17 Japanese units moving out from Hankow/Wuchang, I though it was possible to capture the city or divert the Japanese army moving towards Changsha away. I sent in 1300 Av of units against what I later saw was 570 AV of Japanese units behind level 4 forts. One disappointing deliberate attack on the 15th later, and I thought to dig in and send in more troops, but I changed my mind a few turns later. The army is slowly making its way to Changsha.
3=Hengyang: I was able to track the movements of the Japanese stack heading East from Wuchang. At first I sent in soldiers and most of the Artillery units from the NRA reserve to Changsha, until I figured out that the Japanese stack was headed to Hengyang. So I transferred several infantry units and an AT gun unit to that hex. Eventually, the Japanese shock attacked over the river and ran into a force that outnumbered them from the start. Supply at the base grew very low thanks to constant bombardments over the first few days, so I used the bombers at Changsha to transport supplies. Meanwhile, there were several Japanese stacks entering in the hexes around Changsha to keep me honest.
I did some "force recon" with the bombers and saw that they were all mixed brigades and one lone Moutnain gun regiment in the wooded hex to the west of Changsha that was promptly ejected.
The stack in the dot hex south of Changsha is made of two units that were sent to capture Pingsiang and several depleted units that made an arduous trek from Chuhsien past enemy lines to that hex.
Ichang was captured on the 21st, and I kicked the units defending it out of the hex they retreated to a few days later.
4=Kweilin:
Wuchow fell on the 17th. The units holding it were chased until the Japanese caught up with them and sent them retreating into Kweilin. They marched into Kweilin on January 20th. Luckily, I had built up the forts and was already moving several units from the central reserve into that area. The Japanese division and mortar unit that tried to take Kweilin left a few days after.
5=Kukong:
Served as a rally point for units retreating from the Chuhsien area and other hexes. A Japanese regiment moved in on January 19th and was kicked out a few days later.
6=Wenchow:Garrisoned by 900 AV with a supply stockpile that is increasing!
7=Sian: Sian is surrounded in the 3 clear hexes by one unit each. I amassed armies from the Northern parts of China to kick them out.
8=Lucky forces: Chinese armies that managed to escape relatively unharmed from Nanyang and the Loyang area right on the heels of the Japanese. The stack in the road hex retreated from Nanyang after weathering an ineffective deliberate attack, then they arrived in the current hex just in time to intercept a smaller Japanese stack that shock attacked over the river and is now bogged down. Reinforcements arrived for the respective armies and now they're both at 1300 AV.
9=Reinforcements:China gets a generous drip of reinforcements that is mainly being sent to help the push from the North.
AVG is on the Indian frontier.

Recently my request for a Japanese opponent in another PBEM was answered by a Mr. Belfry. I wanted DBB-A, but it turned out he had the December 8th turn from a prior game that ended after just 3 turns. It was in DBB-C, the one where transports have less carrying capacity. I learned from the previous allied player, 821Bobo, that he stopped mainly due to sync issues. I will see how that affects my own experience.

I'm going in blind. My only consolation is that with Historical first turn on, there can't be that many decisions from the last player to go over.

Looks like you're doing well in China. Beware of getting too comfy in clear hexes. If he goes big to reinforce the center, I'd be already setting up some units behind those clear hex bases to start digging in.

At Sian what are your forts? Tough to defend if you have low supply, but you've forced him to consider another river crossing, which can work for you if he rushes.

Despite being faced with a Mersing invasion, most of the units in Malaya made it to Singapore.
The Japanese entered the city with an army that wasn't nearly big enough and didn't have any fully assembled divisions on January 11th.
They have been bombarding the place ever since. The exact number of units fluctuates as some are withdrawn.
Fighter Squadrons at Singapore were slowly whittled down until only 6 planes were left by February. I flew two squadrons with a pair of planes each out to Soerbaja via Palembang and then Batavia. Now they are being transported to Darwin.
The unit in the North is made of some leftovers from Kuantan and Khota Bharu that fled into Kuala Lumpur and was forced out recently.
Prince of Wales and Repulse are still stuck in the repair yard at Singapore. Prince of Wales can make 20 knots and Repulse can make 12, but she suffers from worse flooding. Sooner or later, both ships will run the gauntlet through the Malacca strait, escorted by the other Surface ships still in Singapore. I was able to save the AMC's, AP's, CM, and AK's that were stuck there.

As you can see, Manila was just captured after a month or so of continuous bombardment followed by a few deliberate attacks. Those last few attacks involved Japanese reinforcements that pushed the AV up to 2000.
Bataan has around 10000 supplies left. For some reason I see Nates and Oscars joining in the bombings of the hex and usually getting damaged by flak in large numbers.
All the forces in the smaller island bases are running out of supplies.
To the lower left you can see an RN base force that was pushed out of Sandakan and is moving to Tarakan.

Everything in the NEI is resting or training for the most part. Java serves as a stopover point for air groups being shipped to Australia, because the Aviation support there is painfully low and the Dutch air force is full of 'hard' restricted units that can't be transferred to another HQ, so once those bases fall, they're done.
I picked up the Dutch battalions defending some outlying islands and sent the Dutch infantry units defending Sabang on a weeks-long trek to Palembang.
Oosthaven was captured on December 29th. For a few days in mid-January I used the Dutch bombers at Batavia to attack Japanese reinforcement convoys. This paid off handsomely. Not only were a few transports hit, the bombers and fighters made a total of 2 300KG bomb hits and a few more 30KG bomb hits on CL Kashii. Fighters also made a total of 10 30 KG bomb hits on E Saga and caused 'heavy fires, heavy damage'.
S-36 also hit the Isuzu on January 12th. A few days later, it turned out the convoy was transporting Ki-32 Maries from North Borneo to try and bomb Batavia. They were escorted by an Oscar squadron. I had the Dutch fighters there Sweep the hex and they supposedly shot down 10 Maries. Then the Oscars started sweeping, so I made the risky gamble of transferring the Fighter squads from Balikpapan all the way to Batavia. It worked and the suffered no ops losses.
Shortly afterwards, I believe another convoy sent a Zero detachment into Oosthaven. Air superiority was quickly gained by the Japanese.
In Celebes, I believe Kendari is being used as some kind of staging area. I've seen many TF's docked there thanks to search planes. Intel also showed that the Japanese have 20 fighters, bombers, and support planes each. Right now I have most of the fastest subs (21kt) in the hex to try and catch some of those transports.

Australia:
Currently serving as a rendezvous point for air squadron from Luzon and Singapore. Sydney is the home port for the Enterprise TF. Northampton, Chester, and Louisville are getting their February refit there.
PNG:
I'll let the Japanese have Port Moresby for now. I evacuated the Base force and the NG battalion, because if there are two things I need in Australia right no, they are Aviation support and unrestricted infantry units.
Burma:There's a stack of five units waiting outside of Rangoon (Level 3 forts, 750 AV). Most everything else is retreating across the border.

Two very noteworthy events today.
First, in the AM search phase, I saw a message stating that one of the OS2 Search planes based at Ambon was 'destroyed by CAP in the Northern Molucca sea. I can now see a TF with 25 fighters and 68 bombers South of Ternate. Meanwhile, there also appears to be another CV TF moving between Ketapang and Bangka island with 16 fighters and 17 bombers. Submarines are already in position to attack the latter.
The combat replay showed many bombings at Bataan.

In China, I will soon have 3000 AV of units at Hengyang to push out the Japanese. This is not including units moving through Changteh that will arrive later.
Land units are heading to reinforce Chittagong and Dimapur.
Because the Air support situation in Australia is so bad, I assembled a reinforcement convoy of the 2 base forces, and AA unit and the 1st Marine air group, escorted by Detroit, a DM, a DMS, and DesDiv 3.
Supply convoys have been moving freely to Australia from off-map hexes and the DEI. Colombo is being used as an intermediate port for Fuel to be stored.
There's a large engineer unit at Midway island to expand the port. Sadly, the airfield is already maxed out at level 4.

On of the January 25th, a task force made of Saratoga, Yorktown, Clark ,and DesDiv 10 left San Francisco for Pearl Harbor. At the very start of January 30th, 7 hexes from the destination, Saratoga was attacked by I-5 and suffered 'critical damage' from one torpedo hit.
By the time the task force arrived at Pearl Harbor, Saratoga had 22 FLT and 14 SYS damage and needed 102 days in the repair yard.

For the most part, the Japanese submarines near Hawaii have been only a nuisance. They often attack the Destroyers in the cargo TF's I send, except for in today's case:

In between attacks, I was informed that Marblhead's scout planes transferred to Bandjermasin. After this attack, Marblehead sank.

In the next phase, Houston and 2 DD's formed an Escort TF, alongside a separate one made of Java, De Ruyer, and two DD's. Search planes revealed the CV Tf's in hexes to the south of my forces, and a few others one hex away that supposedly had ships like AP's and AMC's. Whether those are part of an invasion TF or not, the Japanese carriers are still highly out of place. The Escort TF's were ordered back to base. The others pressed on.
The next turn just came back. Time to see how the Decisive Battle ended.

I don't have much experience with large Naval battles. My first game against the AI was mostly me flailing about in an approximation of planning.
When I fought Bristolduke, a lot of the battles were hampered by how he stuck Warships into transport TF's and turned the fights into shooting galleries. I don't think we had a major Surface fight. With that inexperience in mind, it should be needless to say that I found the events of this turn to be epic in nature.

Houston, Sumatra, De Ruyter, and a few destroyers are in various states of disrepair.
I though I could use this chance to send some of the support ships in Soerbaja to Perth or Darwin, but their turned out to be some grooving gangs of hooligans (Japanese surface task forces) to the South of Java. Lost some short-legged auxiliary units and two tankers.
