Review of the 1st 30hrs of battle.....
The Axis DID NOT conduct adequate recon along the axis of advance south of Bir Hachiem resulting in the Ariete Div being out of position to deal with the Allied screen line. The allocation of extra fuel for the initial advance of the 90th Light, 15th and 21st Pz Div, and the Ariete was thus wasted.
The flank guards of the Pavia Mot Div took heavy casualties during the minefield breaching operations as the Axis commander did not think the Allies would attack from their fortified positions.
The Axis commander DID NOT position his artillery assets prior to the initial advance.
The end result being the delay of the advance south of Bir Hachiem by at least 6 hrs.

Turn 5 Axis Planning...
In the north, the 15th Rifle Bde is ordered to pull back after conducting its recon
The Sabratha Div continues its breaching ops through the minefields to maintain pressure in the north.
The Axis objective in the north is not to become decisively engaged, but to "occupy" the Allied forces.

The Trieste Division reports a successful unopposed breach. The Axis Cdr orders them to advance.....The Allied 150th Inf Bde will be isolated if the advance is successful.

The Axis Cdr utilizes all his Air Recon assets to determine enemy force dispositions. One is sent SE of the Asiagh Ridge in front of the advanced elements of the Trieste Div which has completed the first of two breaching operations.
The other four missions are concentrated along the possible paths of the 90th Light Div. One is ordered directly over Bir El Gubi, the other three go in west and south west of that location.

As the Axis 90th Light continues its planned advance upon Bir El Gubi, the Ariete sets up a deliberate attack against the allied screen line south of Bir Hachiem..
