DEI also going relatively to plan.

There was only one day of frantic surface action and then Mike started to pull back his surface assets. He has also been quite careful with his air as well. Effectively organised/ aggressive resistance has ceased here after 13 days of operations.

Hoping to have secured a major port before Christmas which now appears highly likely. The Dutch have now bolted to that damn mountain enclave which generally takes a tactical nuke to get them out. Still there is no rush, they can sit there and starve. [:D] I just need the ports to refuel/rearm the armada.

Losses light on both sides (except for his merchantman and oilers) who have been largely obliterated.

This is excellent work! Getting onto Java at this stage is impressive and spells doom for any effort to defend the rest of the DEI. Ports, good airfields, supply and fuel, all readily available. Let the Dutch rot.

The squeeze is on Palembang. How is the retreat to Singers going for the Allies? Did you manage to block any units on the way? Will you get in on the cheap and get it early?

Pacific

Johnston and Midway have been seized as I wish to keep my options open around Hawaii.

Never really done this move before and now I know why! The logistics because of the distances involved are a killer. Much easier to move against India and Oz.

Still there is some attractive options at isolating Hawaii. The islands are easy to seize at the moment and I will ensure when he comes back they are mini fortresses. Nobody likes attacking fortified islands/ atolls especially when they are surrounded by angry subs.

KB is raiding fleeing shipping from Pearl which has only been marginally effective. There is plenty out there but I am being careful with my prized asset. Only takes one torp and I am a hell of a long way from any half decent base. Also been very careful with my oilers who just trail behind KB.

Are you tracking down the BBs and their escorts here? That would be a blow, to get them out and nearly to the WC, then hit at sea.

I'd go for it if there is valuable stuff here. If it's just some xAP/xAK then take a shot and head back to support the next level in So Pac and/or the DEI.

Thanks Obvert, some excellent ideas there.

Alas, I believe most of his damaged BBs have now slipped away except the 2 that were severely damaged in the initial attack that must be still parked at Pearl. If I end up nailing 4 in the first month I would be happy.

China- making good progress. Will have Sian soon as the 2 major offensives close in on the key objective.

Main action has been in the DEI.

Major oil centres have been captured with little damage.

Normally I bypass Singapore to go straight into Ceylon and India but this time I will try and nail it straight away. I don't want distractions from my Pearl adventure.

Central Pacific

Again a couple of days old here. Some of the Hawaii Islands have now been secured as well as Midway and the Line Islands.

Logistics is a bigger issue here than active resistance.

Score board- tracking okay.

Made a bigger effort this time round in nailing the shipping fleeing out of the DEI and Pearl.

All up I believe close to 200 ships have been sunk in just under the first month, though the vast majority of these is junk.

Perhaps from an Allied perspective 2 to 3 BBs, 2 to 3 CAs and possibly 30 DDs and some reasonably valuable support and tanker vessels.

Psychologically this pounding has had a bigger impact than any lasting material damage. I often find after the initial onslaught there is a tendency even for experienced Allied players to effectively take cover to minimise their losses. Once I sense active resistance is crumbling, I will risk pushing amphib Taskforces without aircover to seize valuable real estate.

Against experienced players like Mike, the shock effect usually wears off after the first 45 days or so.

But they are permanent VP's ... which is always good, junk or not. [;)]

Be careful with this "pounding", I had to stop my conquest in mid '42 and next let him retake Australia coast to keep him in game. Mike was seriously treating to drop game in case of loosing Sydney.

Hi Mr Kane,

Nah, he will be okay. Mike is an old hand at this by now. I think the difference in this game is:

1. You are a far better player than me especially in the air and

2. Its PDU-Off so that should make a big difference as well.

All good

Hi Zulu, always hard to predict but I would say at least 30 by now. Mostly old and obsolete but still it is a start. [:)]

China situation

Been making really good progress but have finally now hit some decent resistance. Probably a week of hard fighting before the push can regain momentum. As expected Chinese casualties are significant thus far.

Singapore only has a few days left and all major oil centres have been captured with minimum damage.

DEI continued. A strong formation of Dutch in the mountains which from bitter experience usually takes a nuke to clear out. No rush they can starve.

Allied resistance has effectively collapsed over the last fortnight which has allowed me to accelerate the advance now into Oz.

Not sure if it is a cunning trap or a morale collapse. I am hoping it is the former rather than the later but I guess I will find out soon. I am barely seeing even an allied sub which is a real worry.

Scoreboard- late Jan 42

The imminent fall of Singapore will free up 5 inf divisions to continue my Pearl adventures.

It looks bad for the Allies at the moment but in truth I have had better starts and inflicted more damage in previous games only to be crushed in late 44 and early 45 by previous opponents including Mike himself (Jeff Tieman now getting his brutal revenge on me in my other game after I nearly took all of India)

I fear Allied fighting spirit may have vacated the battlefield but I hope for its speedy return and my long time capable adversary/ friend

What tactics have you put into place for the endgame?
