Even though none of the bombs penetrated Fuso's deck or side (none that size ever will), the ship will have taken at least minor float damage, probably some engineering damage and substantial system damage ~ 50. The fires should add a bit more to the damage before they are extinguished. There is no guarantee any of the torps would have hit her or, if they had, that they would detonate. You did OK there.

I had the impression that 1000lb bomb have a chance to penetrate the deck.. I consider the overall result good too but still would love to see torpedo hit or internal explosion. But who not?
RE: Bobo(A) vs Vladimir(J) no Vlad please
Those victories at Chine are great but if he is moving troops from Manchukuo you will be very pressed. A tactical retreat to the mountains between Sian and Nanyang is in order. Let Yenan with one small unit for garrison pourposes and pull back.. [:)]

I am will to sacrifice these units in his rear or logistic lines. He won't be able to dislodge them without sending more troops. I am still not sure which route he will take but already moving troops to the good defensive terrain between Sian and Nanyang. However he may decide to take the route towards Ankang(not sure about the name, west of Sian) and need to be prepared for this alternative too.

I have ordered PT boats from Balikpapan to attack the invasion force at Samarinda. We run into the cover TF. Torpedoes were launched but no hits. Both PT boats were sunk by 40cm hit from Nagato. I guess no survivors among my brave virtual sailors...
No sub hits today. Manila and Singapore were bombed.
All units retreated already to Singapore except FMSV Brigade that was destroyed and 8th Indian Brigade which retreat path has been cut of.
Samarinda taken by Japanese.
Chinese gained another victory!
Weak 8th New Chinese Corps was being bombed by Japanese for couple of days and came under attack today. I deliberately sacrificed it to see what is coming and in future, I am pretty sure will become stack of doom.

Probably there because it is the largest airbase in the area and can host torpedo carrying naval air if he has the proper air base forces or air HQs present. Therefore they pose a threat to any surface force trying to get near and host enough fighters to drive off any bombers coming from Singapore.

Yes of course, but the sheer number of troops, guns and vehicles is good indication there is much more than air HQ and base units.

RE: Bobo(A) vs Vladimir(J) no Vlad please
My comment was not suggest that a large base force was the reason the numbers of troops were 24K, but the base force with capable torpedo planes and level 3/4 airfield provided enough support and defense to base that many troops there for his next moves in the region.

Japanese landing and taking Nauru.
In China my blocking force defending the dirt road approach from east to Sian was defeated in very first battle. Little disappointed, mountain and lvl 2 forts, I have expected better resistance.
For few days I've been receiving intel about imminent Fiji invasion. I tried to ambush the invading force but it turned out the other way.
Yesterday KB was spotted south east of Santa Cruz Islands and I wanted to sneak behind with cruiser force. But KB has been split, half continued towards Fiji and the second part moved back to probably provide cover to other TFs moving.
3 good cruisers are lost. My forces have not been spotted day before but Japanese must knew that they sneaky plan was blown and made preventive measures against any surprise. At least, I must believe it was Japans good play and not just my bad luck.

This kind of jumping from base to base so far from major base(Truk) needs lot of logistic support(AO, AKE, supplies). Basically its gamble.

RE: Bobo(A) vs Vladimir(J) no Vlad please
The start of the game is tough on the Allies as one defeat falls on the tail of the last but the goal is to slow him down as he is running against the clock as well as you. Soon your reinforcements will trickle in then a steady stream then a flood, how you manage your early war loses and then your reinforcements will dictate how soon you defeat your worthy Japanese opponent.
