March 14 1941
Jumping forward a lot here.
I am again confused by ComadrejaKorp. I usually attack Sovietunion in May 41 that is 4 turns from now but from what I can see the preparation will not be ready in time so I am now guessing a more historical start 1st or 2nd turn of June. So Germany need to take Gibraltar and they want Yugoslavia as well and then shift troops and airforce over to the east that will take a little time. Also no new forces have been placed on the map. Same airforce and army size like in summer of 1940 basically. I am scared, whats going on [:)]. I will be happy with a later than normal Barbarossa but 11-12 subs in the Atlantic wont be fun at all.

RE: March 14 1941
And Gibraltar is still holding out. There have been many turns with cold weather but seems the Axis wants to wait for clear weather. 1/4 approximately that there wont be any clear in April but after the weather in France in 1940 I dont think I can hope for it [:)].
German subs doing well. They lose a fair amount but 10 escorts down and with Gibraltar opening up I deceided to close the south Atlantic route for a while and I build only escorts and merchants for now.

While you keep Gibraltar open(no blockade) with your fleet, the German's will have a difficult time in taking it but not as difficult as with 0.081. I'm surprised he's not alternating his air units and attacking your fleets in port even with 6AA in Gibraltar(air vs port bonus is 10% on the attack). I believe it cost more production points to repair naval than air units(Naval: 25% per 1 strength vs Air: 10% per 1). I'm curious to see if he'll invade the beach hex and attack with 3 units instead of just the two armor and that's why he may also be waiting for better weather. Any guess at what his odds would be? 1:2 or 1:1 or 2:1? Another exciting AAR. [:)]

RE: March 14 1941
Thank you, these 2 games are very exciting. I think we are fairly equal in skill/knowledge of the game but I think ComadrejaKorp have done better so far but not by that much (I hope [:)]).
You know the rules better then i do I think. I am not even sure about armour in rough. Are they not halved? In that case it would be 22-24 so 1:1 or 1:2 depending on FoW. The British unit is buffed with trucks and have like 106 readiness but will lose a lot in the bombardment. But with AA maybe the bombard wont be that good so not sure how much effectiveness I can expect to lose. But he can make probably 14 attacks or more in one turn by switching out the arm corps. They will not be in very good shape when they invade Russia but 14 attacks and I think Gibraltar should fall. Also I have no HQ. But who knows I dont think I have seen this situation before at least not in a long time. Will be exciting to see how it goes.
Possibly he should try set it out of supply but bombing against 6 aa is really costly. See my last AAR vs Malkarma when he tried to subdue Gibraltar wasnt easy [:)]. Also I would be willing to sacrifice some ships to prolong the fight I guess he is in a bit of hurry now to get to the east.

RE: March 14 1941
Gibraltar is a mountain, according to the manual that's a -0.6 modifier. Attacking units 0.4 x 0.6 = 0.24. That means at best, he should only be able to attack with approximately 25% strength if I've read the manual correctly and of course, in theory. [:)] [Defence: x1.2entrenchment, x2Mountain, x2.94Port =x2.5 overall-according to my tests] Air units can only damage strength once, so the use of trucks will help a great deal to keep effectiveness up. The problem is his air units can wreak havoc on the effectiveness on your ground unit with multiple attacks. Each attack could reduce your effectiveness by 0-3%, so in essence, he might be able to get you down to an average strength of 10. Then he might be able to achieve 1:1. That's trouble. If he brings in a third armor on the beach, he will be able to sustain 2 attacks with that unit. With the other units behind, he could simply swap them out and attack 15 times in total if needed. He has an excellent setup.
I'm wondering if Gibraltar will even last a turn now. I guess we will find out. Can't wait. [X(]

RE: March 14 1941
A bad streak with the AA can end in an average of 3-4 step loss per air unit every attack...and without guaranteed hits on the fleet. I know it for sure.

A bit of an anticlimax. Gibraltar fell on the first attack I am slightly disappointed in my digital soldiers [:)]. The cost not even that high just 20 land factors and 16 air factors. Also Ramilies was sunk. So nicely done. I am not really surprised if you take Spain you will get Gibraltar but I was hoping for a bit more of an challenge.
Rumours from Berlin says that the leader is a bit of an romantic and in this alternative universe of WW2 he wants to follow the "real" history so the Soviet High command now suspects an attack around the 22 of June.

The 10 ground strikes, were they all on Gibraltar? If so, he probably reduced your effectiveness down below 70%. Curious, regarding the ground strikes, how many air losses did he take?

RE: April 11 1941
The price for the Axis putting enough force into the Mediteraain area to take Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar is not having Barbarossa in 41.
It will be interesting to see how 42 goes with Russia having an extra year to build up and the Allies having all these easy invasion points. The Axis player bets that they can win without all those VP points from invading Russia.

Yes they were all on Gibraltar. AA did not inflict that much. It seemed to do better versus naval strikes than the ground strikes but that might be coincidence. Seems vs 6 aa he lost 16 factors on 13 attacks only like 1.25/attack either a bit of bad luck or the airforce was so rested so they did not take much damage.

ComadrejaKorp will launch Barbarossa in 41 pretty sure but it will be pretty late and maybe some units will be a bit tired. But on the other hand going as late as 2nd turn of June the Forces along the border will be well rested and he still will have 6-8 turns of clear weather so can inflict a lot a damage. What I am thinking is wether I should retreat a bit from the border not sacrificing all 20xp corps on turn 1.

Guns flare along the Soviet border. War in the East have begun. The Soviet spy in Berlin was wrong and the attack started earlier than anticipated. The fate of that spy looks bleak indeed [:)]. Still the invasion is not as they usually are. Only approximately 32-34 German corps no Italians or Rumanians or Hungarians. All on garrison duty. Also not much air support and the Soviets find they for the moment have a bit of air superiority.
It will still be tough but I hope to avoid being crushed this summer at least.
On the downside. The South Atlantic route is closed so UK economy at 130 production so no lend lease. I usually send like 40/turn. Also lost a HQ with a 11 point leader thats annoying.
Wrong chart on the Screenshot. It was supposed to be forces table. German army was at 1424 if I remember correctly so not very big and probably in the same range as mine will be.

War continues in the east. I spot only one arm corps in the north so no need to panic here. I sit tight and try to cut supply where I can.

In the south though it is a bit scary. I detect the War in the east syndrome with the panzerball. All mech units operating together. I move all reserves towards the south to try and tame this beast. Not sure if it can be done but have to try.
It is not all bad. Railconversion is a bit so so. There is not airsupport as of yet and not much infantry support either.

The Battle of the Atlantic is another headache. Even with south atlantic closed I lose more escorts and merchants then I can build. All available bombers and Royal Navy is going north. Main goal is of course try to find the raiding Italian navy. And hoping the escorts will deal with the submarines eventually. But there is no build up thats for sure. UK army of a decent size but building of mech and airunits completely on hold.

And in Egypt the British try to posture a bit offensively but with 2 italian mech units and 1 German arm corps at the end of useless supply there is not much to do here.

Still no pressure in the north. Not sure if this is good or not. Anyone tried this or have any opinion? I do understand as the southern part of the front moves east I probably have to retreat. On the other hand it gives me freedom to concentrate what reserves I have to a shorter front. And Leningrad should be safe at least in 41.

In the south now not 8 but 11 mech units so in total at least 13 built. Not sure how the oil situation is with the moving of the subs and Italian fleet and 12 mech units on the eastern front.
