Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #5 (continued).

12/29/20, 8:07 PM - [Axis] Unfortunately, I don't think this version is usable. When I'm trying to move my units, it's taking forever to move them. I'm pretty sure it's because the game is calculating the new isolated values. I'm going to use a prior version that doesn't have this problem.
12/29/20, 8:09 PM - [Allied] send me the game file and I'll edit it to turn off isolated reorg, I'll return it back to you and let's see if that's better.
12/29/20, 8:09 PM - [Allied] Just save it where you are and send it to me. Worth a try I think.
12/29/20, 8:11 PM - [Axis] I've already loaded it in a prior version. You can edit the file when you get it back if you want.
12/29/20, 8:12 PM - [Allied] Does it run faster with the prior version?
12/29/20, 8:12 PM - [Allied] Which version are you using?
12/29/20, 8:13 PM - [Axis] Yes, works fine now. 3.2.0
12/29/20, 8:15 PM - [Allied] How do you wish to handle this?
12/29/20, 8:16 PM - [Axis] It's only a problem for me. The game on your end will load the prior version fine. I will have to edit the file I get from you to read 3.2.0 at the top.
12/29/20, 8:17 PM - [Axis] But once you start moving ground units a lot you will notice it and want to do something about it on your end...trust me
12/29/20, 8:17 PM - [Allied] Do you want to try it with the optional rule off and the newest version?
12/29/20, 8:18 PM - [Allied] How did you revert back to 3.2? Do you have both versions installed?
12/29/20, 8:19 PM - [Axis] Like I said, you can monkey with it all you want once you get the file back. It's been my experience with this game that it's best to stick with a prior version that works than try to keep pace with latest releases. 2.7.1 was a decent version until Net Play changes
12/29/20, 8:20 PM - [Axis] I have both .exe's. That's all you need to run prior versions.
12/29/20, 8:21 PM - [Allied] Ok. I have 3.2 MWiF.exe too. I was concerned that it wouldn't work with the 4.2 install.
12/29/20, 8:21 PM - [Allied] If that's the case I'll run 3.2 too.
12/29/20, 8:33 PM - [Allied] When you send the game file back at the end of your impulse, if you don't mind, could you send the 4.2 game file from the autosave at the beginning of the axis land movement phase. I'd like to "play around with it" and see if it's the isolated reorg optional rule or if it's 4.2 that's the culprit. After I find out I'd like to post it the tech (bug report) section.
12/29/20, 8:40 PM - [Axis] Will do

4.2.1.1 Isolated Reorg Optional So Slow

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #5 (concluded).

12/29/20, 8:41 PM - [Axis] China is auto. Assault in Warsaw?
12/29/20, 8:42 PM - [Axis] Will execute China first
12/29/20, 8:42 PM - [Allied] Assault yes.
12/29/20, 8:44 PM - [Axis] No excessive looting or raping in Kaifeng
12/29/20, 8:44 PM - [Allied] That's a good thing ... but a little reaction never the less by the US would have been nice too.
12/29/20, 8:46 PM - [Allied] No surprise there.
12/29/20, 8:55 PM - [Axis] Next allied impulse sent.
12/29/20, 8:55 PM - [Axis] Will send you the 4.2 version you wanted shortly
12/29/20, 8:56 PM - [Axis] 4.2 game file sent.
12/29/20, 8:57 PM - [Allied] Thanks!
12/29/20, 8:57 PM - [Axis] If you don't mind, I'm going to start sending the files thru here...seems a tad easier than email
12/29/20, 8:57 PM - [Allied] It'll be tomorrow late-morning or early afternoon before I will likely get to my impulse.
12/29/20, 8:58 PM - [Allied] No problem, didn't realized you could send those types of files via WhatsApp.
12/29/20, 8:58 PM - [Axis] no problem, cya later
12/29/20, 8:58 PM - [Allied] Oh ... one stop shopping. I like it!
12/29/20, 9:54 PM - [Allied] Look through my options and I'm afraid my next impulse is going to be another one of calculated risk/reward. Not use to so many this early in the game. 🤨
12/29/20, 9:55 PM - [Allied] I guess it's something that we both can sleep on for the night.
12/29/20, 9:55 PM - [Allied] I assume you realize that France will be able to align Yugoslavia?
12/29/20, 9:56 PM - [Allied] Do they go east towards Romania or northwest towards Austria/Germany?
12/29/20, 9:56 PM - [Allied] And, only 5 land moves with the Soviets!
12/29/20, 9:57 PM - [Allied] Not use to this much action this early.
12/29/20, 9:57 PM - [Allied] wrt/Yug I'm learning towards northwest, which will allow me to take out another of your oil.
12/29/20, 9:58 PM - [Axis] Germany will slaughter the Yugoslavs quickly. Germany is unafraid
12/29/20, 9:59 PM - [Allied] I really want to take a naval with France to hit the Italians back; but France needs land moves!
12/29/20, 9:59 PM - [Allied] Maybe a combine this impulse with France? Maybe not?
12/29/20, 10:00 PM - [Axis] There is one French unit that will be staying on German soil regardless
12/29/20, 10:00 PM - [Allied] I do know that Yug is doomed but will try to do max damage with them before then.
12/29/20, 10:00 PM - [Allied] Or at least try.
12/29/20, 10:00 PM - [Allied] Well, the French unit staying on German soil is sure enjoying some German beer!
12/29/20, 10:01 PM - [Allied] Probably too much ... that's why they're unable to move properly.
12/29/20, 10:01 PM - [Axis] Yea...and Germany is enjoying the extra BP
12/29/20, 10:01 PM - [Allied] Oh, now I see!
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Allied] That's why you ground struck that stack with the Italians during their surprise impulse.
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Allied] I was curious why you did that.
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Axis] Now he gets' it...
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Allied] Makes sense now.
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Allied] Very good!
12/29/20, 10:02 PM - [Allied] Nice move ... need to remember that one.
12/29/20, 10:04 PM - [Axis] I personally don't think the YugoSlav alignment strategy is all that good. It's clever, but has it's own drawbacks...like most strategies
12/29/20, 10:17 PM - [Allied] Had it pulled on me once as the axis.
12/29/20, 10:17 PM - [Allied] I didn't panic or overact.
12/29/20, 10:18 PM - [Allied] Just saw it as an opportunity to take Yugoslavia out a bit earlier than usual.
12/29/20, 10:18 PM - [Allied] Though unlike me, my opponent did withdraw all his units back to France before the end of the turn.
12/29/20, 10:18 PM - [Allied] Never occurred to me until now why that was so important. :(
12/29/20, 10:19 PM - [Allied] In for a penny in for a pound.
12/29/20, 10:19 PM - [Allied] Lot's of things for me to sleep on tonight.
12/29/20, 10:20 PM - [Axis] Right. It's cool, don't get me wrong. Can be a pain in the arse. I have been lucky with weather this impulse
12/29/20, 10:20 PM - [Axis] Will be tougher in winter to deal with everything going on
12/29/20, 10:21 PM - [Allied] Yes. But I've gotten luck with the strat of Ploesti and land combats.
12/29/20, 10:21 PM - [Allied] Wouldn't have had that without the weather.
12/29/20, 10:22 PM - [Allied] At least I've gotten the Italian surprise impulse out of the way.
12/29/20, 10:22 PM - [Allied] That's always a shoe ready to drop.
12/29/20, 10:23 PM - [Allied] It's drop and did do some damage. Not mortal but definitely more than a flesh wound.
12/29/20, 10:24 PM - [Allied] Wow ... I see what you mean about 4.2. Just loading the game file took a while.
12/29/20, 10:25 PM - [Axis] Yea. I had to once your second attack in Germany was successful. Then I knew Yugoslavia would be aligned and I wanted to keep a unit on German soil to make you pay. Plus Italy is needed to contain the rampaging Yugoslavs until the German Army can arrive from Poland
12/29/20, 10:25 PM - [Allied] And moving the Japanese land units is extremely slow.
12/29/20, 10:26 PM - [Allied] Oh my goodness, I see now why you wanted to go back to 3.2!
12/29/20, 10:46 PM - [Allied] Good night then. :)

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #6.

2/30/20, 11:54 AM - [Allied] Big turn for the Soviets and Romanians.
12/30/20, 11:55 AM - [Axis] Yea
12/30/20, 11:56 AM - [Allied] Working through a bit of wargaming with them I think I'm going for a blitz attack against the 2-stack adjacent to Ploesti. My PWIN is only 68% and chance of achieve a breakthrough a bit less than 40% (which would give the Soviets Ploesti). Got to take the chance while the weather is fine, though I fear all I'm going to wind up doing is losing the Soviet mech army and flipping the rest of the attackers.
12/30/20, 11:56 AM - [Allied] But I get ahead of my self
12/30/20, 11:57 AM - [Allied] Soviet Blitz Estimation
12/30/20, 11:57 AM - [Allied] USSR 41,65 is wrong ... but the rest of the numbers are right.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #6. (continued)

12/30/20, 11:58 AM - [Allied] Assault example from my +9.8 A on Saarbrucken (screen cap below)
12/30/20, 11:58 AM - [Axis] cool stuff
12/30/20, 12:01 PM - [Allied] One reason I really love MWiF is that you can make these precise probability calculations versus other Matrix/Sliternine games (which I also enjoy) like SC WWII WaW, which don't allow stacking, have step losses and no clear probability, or PWIN, calculation.

Thank you for the story told here. Pretty exiting stuff. [:)] [&o]

Well, the Japanese were rightly punished for having a HQ sitting alone in the hex. And the decision not to allow the conquest of Bessarabia might become a very costly one for Germany...

12/30/20, 12:41 PM - [Allied] Allies will decline to initiate in all but 1, the Eastern Med. Axis (non-phasing) unable to initiate in the 4 declined by allies.
12/30/20, 12:42 PM - [Axis] ok
12/30/20, 12:43 PM - [Allied] French CA Foch initiates.
No air reactions by either side possible.

Initial axis: 10 surface vs 6 ships (2D, 3A).
12/30/20, 12:48 PM - [Allied] Allies use 2 SPs to shift axis risk to X, D, 3A.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #6. (continued)

12/30/20, 12:50 PM - [Allied] Where do the axis wish to place the X?
12/30/20, 12:50 PM - [Axis] X on Zara
12/30/20, 12:51 PM - [Axis] D on Gorizia
12/30/20, 12:51 PM - [Axis] aborts won't matter. Abort to La Spezia if no intercept possible, otherwise Tripoli
12/30/20, 12:51 PM - [Allied] X on Zara = 2, sunk.
12/30/20, 12:52 PM - [Allied] Sure you want the D on Gorizia. It's carrying the 1st inf div?
12/30/20, 12:53 PM - [Axis] Yes
12/30/20, 12:53 PM - [Allied] D on Gorizia=2, damaged.
12/30/20, 12:55 PM - [Allied] You have 3 aborts left and outside chance of the CA Trento not aborting.
Are you planning to abort after this round?
If so, no need to roll. If not, need to roll for the aborts.
12/30/20, 12:55 PM - [Allied] I'll go ahead and roll, then you can decide after my damage.
12/30/20, 12:55 PM - [Axis] look above, instructions are clear
12/30/20, 12:57 PM - [Allied] Got you.
12/30/20, 1:05 PM - [Allied] Resolution of allied risk (2D, 3A).
1st D on CA Foch=2, damaged.
2nd D on (damaged) CA Foch=1, sunk.
1st of 3 aborts on CA Colbert=3, aborted.
12/30/20, 1:06 PM - [Allied] 2nd of 3 aborts on CA Suffren = 8, 1/2 aborted
12/30/20, 1:08 PM - [Allied] 3rd abort on BB Dunkerque=10, 1/2 abort.
12/30/20, 1:08 PM - [Allied] French & RN stay.
Italian's abort sea area.
12/30/20, 1:10 PM - [Allied] Italian aborts make it to La Spezia w/o incident.
12/30/20, 1:11 PM - [Allied] 1st Inf Div will arrive next turn as a reinforcement for Italy.
12/30/20, 1:23 PM - [Axis] Alrighty

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Allied #6. (concluded)

12/30/20, 1:25 PM - [Allied] Land Combat Resolution.
+6.5 B vs Romania 59,52.
FOR=852 (no), 2D10=6, LCR=6+0+6=12.
Defenders hold, no losses & attackers flipped.
12/30/20, 1:26 PM - [Allied] What a bust!
12/30/20, 1:26 PM - [Axis] Nice job Romanians
12/30/20, 1:27 PM - [Allied] On the bright side a good thing I didn't make the fractional with a 2D10=6.
12/30/20, 1:27 PM - [Allied] I would have lost the mech army and inf army.
12/30/20, 1:30 PM - [Allied] No reorg possible so went right through to the next impulse-pair weather roll. Will make roll.
12/30/20, 1:30 PM - [Axis] ok
12/30/20, 1:31 PM - [Allied] Looks like the weather has turn ugly. It's a 10.
12/30/20, 1:33 PM - [Allied] Turn sent (or actually dropped in).
12/30/20, 1:33 PM - [Axis] thanks
12/30/20, 1:33 PM - [Axis] should be able to work on it shortly
12/30/20, 1:33 PM - [Allied] No rush, no pressure.
12/30/20, 1:34 PM - [Axis] No, I enjoy it. I play whenever possible
12/30/20, 1:34 PM - [Axis] Work winding down
12/30/20, 1:34 PM - [Allied] Enjoyable game.

12/30/20, 2:13 PM - [Axis] land actions across the board
12/30/20, 2:55 PM - [Axis] <Media omitted>
12/30/20, 2:56 PM - [Allied] Yea ... knew that one was coming.
12/30/20, 2:57 PM - [Axis] I could not move the 5-3 infantry for this attack without moving thru chengchow, which I did not want to do. I figure the Edit Meister Mr. Runyon can fix that
12/30/20, 2:58 PM - [Allied] No problem. Move Chengchow back to Chinese control?
12/30/20, 2:58 PM - [Axis] Yes please
12/30/20, 3:12 PM - [Axis] Turn continues

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #7. (continued).

12/30/20, 4:17 PM - [Allied] Used my python based editing tool
12/30/20, 4:17 PM - [Allied] Still in console development/unit test mode.
12/30/20, 4:17 PM - [Axis] nice
12/30/20, 4:17 PM - [Allied] Got it to about 85% of an initial application release back over the summer and haven't really looked at it since then.
12/30/20, 4:18 PM - [Allied] Need to get back to it and get the initial editing application.
12/30/20, 4:19 PM - [Allied] Not a gui person so it'll be a data driven command line type python application.
12/30/20, 4:19 PM - [Allied] More interested in making the guts work well and not spending the 3x, or more, time required to make a pretty front-in gui.

Turn 1. Sep/Oct 1939. Axis #7. (concluded).

12/30/20, 4:20 PM - [Allied] So far, MWiF editing utilities are composed of 1006 lines of code.
12/30/20, 4:20 PM - [Axis] I'm that way as well
12/30/20, 4:20 PM - [Allied] Object oriented.
12/30/20, 4:21 PM - [Allied] I know you're a coder. Do you have experience with python?
12/30/20, 4:24 PM - [Axis] No I don't. I'm mainly a C# .net guy
12/30/20, 4:24 PM - [Axis] I have heard good things about it though
12/30/20, 4:24 PM - [Axis] pretty good at SQL
12/30/20, 4:25 PM - [Allied] Fast reading files too
12/30/20, 4:25 PM - [Allied] That's it's power.
12/30/20, 4:26 PM - [Allied] Wave of the future for corporations and universities. No more 7 figure yearly licenses to Mathworks for MATLAB when you can get python and py packages for FREE.
12/30/20, 4:32 PM - [Allied] [One of] my New Year's resolution is to get back to my python MWiF editor work and get an initial command line release by end of January at least.
12/30/20, 6:11 PM - [Allied] Most probably won't get to my impulse tonight.
