And it starts

Re: And it starts
End of August 1942, one HQ and two rifle armies have been lost. The salient is bigger but no breakthrough yet.

Re: And it starts
But Alvaro, I think there is a manpower problem here. I have never lost any manpower in production since the beginning of the game. Each turn since 1939, I am buying infantry rifle corps. I have never disbanded anything.
I have just taken losses, repairing my corps / armies. I have bought around 6-7 rifle armies by myself.
There are two coming right now and that's all.
We are in 1942, end of August 1942. And my manpower for USSR is already at 61%. Given all the armies destroyed and rebuilt historically, this is too low.
Soviet manpower shortage is supposed to happen in 1944, not in 1942... You really don't like USSR (no production, no manpower).

Here are the current casualties and forces. I am pulling back once again, performing a local counter attack.

Re: And it starts
Mid of September 1942, is it the end? Despite several attacks, my line was not broken.
Several losses in several armies but the frontline is holding. I am always at full speed on repairs. My Soviet manpower is now down to 60%. I don't know how I am supposed to buy tank and mechanized corps now with these numbers. These tank armies were historically formed starting 1943. Will see...

End of September 1942, this is not over. The Germans are destroying two more rifle armies and keep pushing.

Strategic bombing campaign is on going.
My opponent has stopped sub attacks in North Atlantic. Just imagine if I had less MMs. My support to USSR would have been much too low. The USSR production question once again...

Re: And it starts
Soviet manpower is at 58%. In average, my manpower upkeep to repair all my armies, planes, ... is at 50 points. With a manpower production of 31 points each turn, this is normal it is reducing again and again.
Is it really intended to have a "so low" manpower production number of 31 points in 1942 with all the armies formed in 1941, 1942?
I can hold the line. I am retreating once again.

Re: And it starts
Hi,
My take on the MP is not that the Soviets have too little, but that Germany has too much. We have a tendency to take 50% as the floor, but the really floor is 0%. We just seem to have a psychological problem going under 50%. But I would see no problem if Soviet recruits go down in quality as long as German one do too. At 58% you still have plenty of PM in a way. What is important is more the MP relations between the two side. One could improve the Soviet one, or reduce the German one. Both could be solutions.
I have always been surprised how the Soviet can still field quite "ok" troops even at 35-40% MP. Units will get very bad recruits as reinforcement steps, but it also usually mean that those same units did a lot of fighting and their overall XP is still often vey close to 50%.
PS: I also think that the UK has probably too much MP also.
PS2: Thanks for the AAR

Greece - NO
North Africa - NO
Norway - NO
UK - so far I have 4 Strategic bombers
USA - so far I have 5 Strategic bombers
As far as I can tell, the Germans have 6 sub groups.
That is what I am calling a German all-in.

Manpower is down to 57%. I have 65 rifle armies not all full armies. I will slowdown on repairs to buy tank/mechanized corps in order to rebuild my armor force.

I agree with you. Either we limit the German manpower, either we increase the Soviet one. Here are all the events helping the Germans. The ones that are in bold are to be removed in my opinion. Why? Because Total War from Germany really starts after Stalingrad i.e. in 1943.
Do you agree?

I don't know if my opponent is reading this but I would be curious of Germany current manpower level.

End of October 1942, the manpower is going up very slowly with the operational pause. I am back to 58%. Will see how it goes when I will create tank corps and mechanized corps each turn.

Re: And it starts
End of October 1942 still, this is where the German manpower event is too strong in my opinion. Germany is back to a land force of 2028 points whereas the Red Army land units is at 2431 points.
But, at this stage, there was no big encirclement like Stalingrad unlike historically. So, I could say maybe. This is really the Soviet manpower that worries me now.

December 1942, the German army is now at 2259 points vs 2432 points for the Red army. I have asked the question of the German manpower just to know. Not sure I will have the answer.

Re: And it starts
You are doing well. Just perhaps possible to salvage the game for the Allies if you invade France early in 1943.
Personally though, I am completely unstoppable as the Axis, 100% win rate. And I don't consider that a brag.
I think Axis supply rates are too high in Russia. Partisans have no effect, and German units have 9 supply even at Stalingrad.
Add to that virtually unlimited German manpower, and very high production.

End of December 1942, operational pause in Sicily due to the weather. Soviet factories are at last starting to produce new units.

Re: And it starts
January 1943, the German army is now higher than the Soviet army, 2465 points vs 2432 points. This is a little off track for the end of 1942. True, there was no Stalingrad but this is a little high. Romania have not deployed two armies in USSR, in this game, exactly for this reason. There is no need of them to man the frontline.
Historically, during the whole war in the east, the ratio was around 2:1 in favor of the Soviets. And this for Axis side meaning Germany and all its minors.
