Whereas the Imperial Government of Japan has committed unprovoked acts of war against the Government and the people of the United States of America:
Therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the state of war between the United States and the Imperial Government of Japan which has thus been thrust upon the United States is hereby formally declared; and the President is hereby authorized and directed to employ the entire naval and military forces of the United States and the resources of the Government to carry on war against the imperial Government of Japan; and, to bring the conflict to a successful termination, all of the resources of the country are hereby pledged by the Congress of the United States.

"For the first time in the history of the Pacific, armed conflict stalks abroad. No other country than Japan desired war in the Pacific. The responsibility for this actual resort to war is therefore upon Japan.... Australia goes to its battle stations in defense of its very way of living. "
In view of these wanton acts of unprovoked aggression, committed in flagrant violation of international law, and particularly of Article 1 of the Third Hague Convention, relative to the opening of hostilities, to which both Japan and the United Kingdom are parties, His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokyo has been instructed to inform the Imperial Japanese Government in the name of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom that a state of war exists between the two countries

UPI Hawaii has reported a second enemy strike at Pearl Harbor. The attack was not against the harbor itself but rather a small fighter sweep against the airfields. The losses were very small. There has been no confirmation of a carrier strike against friendly merchant shipping off the coast of Hawaii.
AP Manilla has reported a great naval battle north of Lingayen. The American Navy has apparently attempted to break up the landings there. Traffic reports at least 2 hits on enemy cruisers and possibly transports.
Heavy fighting continues to rage in the Philipines as enemy forces have made multiple landings up and down the coasts.
The BBC is reporting that RAF Singapore has scored another major victory against enemy invaders. A massive airstrike hammered a landing force at Kuanian. RAF say they hit a Japanese battleship with no less then 2 torpedoes and multiple bombs. A second strike reported seeing a Japanese battleship burning as they entered the area. Additional hits against Japanese shipping were reported.
And Japan is supposed to be worried about this ??? [:D] Especially France declaring war... France declaring war on Japan is kinda like Luxembourg declaring war on the US...
Here we go again - Turn 3.. It wasn't too bad I finally took some bases in Malaya (2 in fact) and added another PI base to my collection, but the boys on Wake are still fighting... I think both sides only have sticks and stones left... The USN decided to intervene in Wake, so they will probably be keeping it for the time..
Admiral Nagumo may not be executed now !! He disobey orders (ok I told him to stay) and wrecked further havoc around Pearl.. He raided the port and caught a few BBs napping and put some bombs into them slowing down the repair work.. He also conducted his first City Attack and damaged the Allied repair yards at Pearl as well [8|]
Did I mention that Japanese Subs suck.. I've had like 10 attacks on Allied ships: 2 duds, and 8 misses.. not a single hit yet. Something wrong here ?

I don't know the # or how many I have left, buts it worth it to damage / kill these ships while I can and their AA is fairly weak. I won't be doing this in 43-44...
I am not relying on any fudge factor for the Zeros to protect me... It only takes one lucky SBD drive to drop a 1000 lb bomb on Akagi and put her in the shop for 6 months - or even sunk.

The sudden criminal attacks perpetrated by the Japanese in the Pacific provide the climax of a decade of international immorality.
Powerful and resourceful gangsters have banded together to make war upon the whole human race. Their challenge has now been flung at the United States of America. The Japanese have treacherously violated the long‑standing peace between us. Many American soldiers and sailors have been killed by enemy action. American ships have been sunk; American airplanes have been destroyed.
The Congress and the people of the United States have accepted that challenge.
Together with other free peoples, we are now fighting to maintain our right to live among our world neighbors in freedom and in common decency, without fear of assault.

The Army is reporting that their B-17s struck and destroyed Japanese naval forces attempting to invade Wake Island. Unnamed Army sources report the heavy bombers struck the Japanese task force just after sunrise this morning sinking 2 cruisers and heavily damaging at least 2 destroyers. It was not known if any transports were attacked in the morning raid.
UPI Hawaii is quoting naval sources regarding this morning's raid over the harbor as..."futile." The same navy sources say that "you can bomb burned out ships over and over again, but it's not like they will sink any deeper in the harbor." Enemy repeat strikes against what's left in the shipping in the harbor only resulted in the destruction of enemy pilots, the abilty to defend American assets there was not diminished.
The BBC is reporting that this morning's Japanese raid against Singapore was ineffective. The majority of the RAF was away from the field enroute to an airstrike against a Japanese task force.
Published reports out of Berlin say that the Kriegsmarine has been ordered to attack American shipping by Adolf Hitler.
The AP is reporting that CINCPAC reportedly has made contact with the defenders of Wake Island today...allegedly the Commander Wake Island's one request was...
Well another day came and went with Japan making strides forward on all fronts. The IJN lost its first combat ship to a followup air strike from the USN CV TF off the coast of Wake. The CL Tenryu was lost with all hands. The badly damaged MSW Toushima was lost today as it attempted to crawl back home after yesterday's punishing air attack. Her escorts rescued most of her crew before she sank.
Two more IJN subs were lost to US ASW forces and another IJN sub had a perfect target all lined up only to miss yet again. The track record for the IJN Subs has been very disappointing so far.
The Allied AK Governor Wright finally succumbed to battle from yesterday and was seen sinking beneath the waves.
IJN air forces have accounted for five more Allied Destroyers today, as well as an AK, AVD, AS and an AV, leaving the Allied forces a little shorthanded on the specialty ships in the SRA.
You guys should see the herd of Subs Rob has fleeing Manilla... and oddly they went north around the PI instead of south... He must be trying to get them into position around Japan... [Herd = 12+]

Subject: Contact with Enemy Cruiser, 10 December 1941.
On Wednesday, 10 December 1941, at 0617, 6-B-17, Lieut. (jg) E.L. ANDERSON, USN., pilot and MASON, S.J. Jr., RM3c, USN., passenger, scouting 40 miles south of the ENTERPRISE at 300 feet sighted wake made by enemy cruiser. The vessel was smoking and sitting heavy in the water. I pulled up to 800 feet over the enemy and released a 1000 pound bomb which was seen to explode approximately 50 feet aft and somewhat to port of the cruisers bridge. The rest of my squadron made their runs and as we departed the vessel was dead in the water and burning.

CINCPAC has reported that communcations with Wake Island have been reestablished and the atoll is free of enemy soldiers. CINCPAC cautions that Wake, being located on the edge of the enemy's fledgling empire will no doubt be the focus of many more battles to come.

BBC is reporting that British forces are heavily engaged in and around Hong Kong. Royal Navy forces have already departed the area and it is unlikely the Hong Kong defenders will last much past Christmas.
RAF Singapore reportedly gave their pilots the day off after 5 straight days of hammering the enemy fleet north of the city.
Reuters Manilla is reporting that the last of the American Navy in the Philippines has been destroyed. Three American PGs attacked a Japanese Battlegroup off of Davao.
AP Manilla is reporting a huge Allied victory in the Northern part of the islands. Filipino troops of the 32st PA Division drove the Japanese near Lingayen. A fierce bombardment battle had raged for days before the order was given my Major General Estancia to "fix bayonets and kill everything in front of you." The remnents of the the enemy forces were sent fleeing east into the hills.

Another day - this time the Allies do pretty good.. The damn dutch submarines strike fast and hard, sending a couple ships to the bottom of the ocean. The Dutch are so bold the surfaced and used their damn HMG on an AK ripping holes in it. Then just to be mean, the fired 2 torps into it too...
Damage from the past couple turns claim a USN DD, as well as an IJN AK and unfortunately the CL Yubari (hit near Wake by USN CVs) - I was hoping he'd make it to port, but I guess not.
Rob committed a night time raid on Kuantan and bagged himself an AK and a bombardment out of it. His DDs returned to Singapore before my planes could say hi.

BBC Singapore is reporting that a trio of Royal Navy destroyers made itself known overnight. Darting across enemy waters they engaged and destroyed 2 enemy transports and then turned and bombarded ground forces moving south towards Singapore.
Royal Navy officials report intercepting Japanese message traffic regarding the chaos Dutch submarines have been causing since the outbreak of the war. Apparently the enemy has been forced to several ASW task forces to deal with the Dutch threat. Good show to our brothers of the Dutch Navy!
