The early aggressive defensive stance by the Allies has again resulted in nothing special in this example. Might not have even delayed the Jap player timetable. Now the Allies are REALLY screwed. Much can be accomplished with meager light naval forces and LBA through attrition without having your only strategic asset (CVs) even sighted, let alone risked or lost. The DEI,PI are too close to Japan to even contemplate holding so it's better to let your USN strength build up in theSouth, Central and Eastern Pacific.

Last night, LGEN Rowell (Cheff of staff acting of the allied forces around north Australia), post the Dutch Naval Cross to LCDR Groeneveldt, commander of the SS KXIV. The medal was awarded for the most oustanding success against the enemy sunk three ships.

The Kido Butai counts with 6 CV and two CVL based at Truk. However, the CVL Ryujo is repairing torpedo damage. The Southeast fleet also counts with 4 BB, 3 CA, 8 CL and 24 DD based at Truk.
The 8th Fleet are based at Rabaul and counts with 4 CA and 6 DD.
The 2nd Fleet are based at Brunei and counts with 1 CA, 2 CL and 15 DD.
