This is the kind of situation that should have the majority of players puking. Look at the massive abuse of the bogus ASW model. Why this is still possible in this game is beyond me, but then again, there is so much which needed a fix and still goes without I've given up. And no, I won't buy WITP2 since it should have been done in this version.

Hi, Ron can't make up his mind. He crys if 1 Japanese ASW weapon hits a USN submarine and cries when the entire IJN misses.

It is not a monster ASW TF. There is not one single Japanese TF assigned the ASW mission. That is the collection hex for the IJN. There are currently 20+ TF in the hex.

Japanese surface TF sails into Tarakan and sinks 2xTK 1xAK no enemy warships encountered.
South Sea Detactchment lands on Midway and is repulsed with heavy loss.

I thought that would bring out the ASW thing again....He has most of the fleet sitting up there and the Tambor just went for a ride through the roller coaster. I thought it was funny that I missed with the torpedoes, he must have a ship every square mile up there...
As to the rest of it, I am rolling to his tune right now; all the initiative is with MOG for now. He gloats over sinking some damaged TK here and there...bah. I am sure that the buildup for this will still be a while. I just wish my torpedoes would work right more often.

Hi, No I took Davao to interdict movement of assets from SRA to West Coast.
Also took Batan Island to help isolate PI. (IJAAF bombers can reach Clark from there but can't from Formosa)
Would like to find POW and Repluse....

Invasion USA.

Post by mogami »

Hi, Dec 18 1941. Having secured Midway Japan now has air cover from land based groups from Japan to around 30 hexes West of USA Coast.
LCU will use Midway to recover disruption and gain prep points before loading onto assault ships. (Units are arriving on everything from 7k AK to APD)
The "Armada" hopes to sail on or before 1 Jan 1942. Expect 4 weeks for crossing so landings should begin not later then 1 Feb 1942. (Everything is subject to change I'm being as flexable as I can without going limp)

Well, still pretty quiet on this Christmas Eve. It appears that the IJN in the area is up there refueling. Other than harrassing air raids and the capture of Davao and Menado around the Celebes, there is little action other than the occassional sub in the PI/DEI areas. Japanese subs have been busy off the West Coast, but have little to show for it and they have suffered damage and sinkings in the interim. This last day was funny in that:

Air unit off SF catches a sub and bombs it (near the end of the ops report); evidently, the Glen was off scouting at the time, as the last item indicates.

We are now interrogating him vigorously.....

Hi, 12/29/41 Japanese troops begin landing on Kodiak Island. Dutch Harbor and Kodiak were subjected to naval bombardments on the 27th Kodiak getting attacks from Japanese carrier bombers on 28th and 29th. Armada now 1800 miles from SF.

yeah, I think that is what one of my subs blundered across....Tautog took a shot at an AP and about a kabillion PG's screamed after her ineffectually; and did again in the next phase while she manuevered for another shot.

It would appear that Admiral Mogami is moving to secure his northern flank of his future SLOC to the coast; still unsure how far this subsidiary operation is going, is Anchorage next on the list after Kodiak? I don't think that he was prepping for Kodiak, as he took over 4k casualties landing against a BF and RCT. There were 11k present during the bombardment that took place after the landing.

Just to cover the other fronts won't take long....there, I'm done.[>:]
Actually, he IS doing some small interdiction ops with his SS, but not much else lately. Still just Davao and Menado so far. Our manuevers in the area are limited to defensive ones so far; don't have the resources yet for anything else right now.

Now that's rubbing salt in Mog's wounds!

Hi, If I thought there was anything special about the CA Mogami in WITP it would not have been in that TF.
(CA Mogami was put into a TF assigned a mission that was 100 percent likely to engage the enemy. It is therefore nothing remarkable to see it sustain damage)
The vital knowledge of the whereabouts of the USN CV was obtained as a result of this action. The mission of this force was to obtain that data.

in layman's terms this is: I wanted to sink my own ships and managed to accomplish it - a victory

True Mog True. I suppose Hiroshima will just be a larger bang?

I don't know the level of fires or flooding but I imagine, even though it didn't sink this turn, that the Taiyo is in line for an underwater adventure??

It might just be; tracking by PBY reports a single/dual contact that is making under 5 knots for the last 2-3 days; think that is the Taiyo and possibly CL Kiso that was hit hard also. Subs and 17's are harrassing him as he makes his way back west right now. Meanwhile, just a quick picture of the intel from the North Pacific. Something evil this way cometh, methinks......
