p.s the most annouying aspect is the loss of the MSW's as PZB is very fond of mines.

Pity I cannot retaliate by mining all his rear area ports

Na his air ASW is just to nasty to go in close.

And because of the air mining bug it was banned in this game before I took over.

OK 3rd Marine Div got the job done Green Island has fallen.

I think I am going to need to pause for a few days on the Eastern Side

My forces are getting a little mixed up I want to hit Kavieng in force with 2 Bdes of 1st Marines and the whole 3rd Marines plus some Armour so I will need to re organise to do it and give some time for preparation.

I am concnetration barges and MSW's at Bruin to get ready for the assault.

6th Inf and 33rd Inf are approaching Pearl I have decided to save them for the assault on the Marshalls so I will send them to Tarawa to prepare.Unlike Solomons this will not be a Barge led assault so I will need to be carefull.

On the Western side my diversion at Sorotoi has not brought forth a reaction so I will forward and see if I can take the base if I can so much the better !!!!

Gotta be careful on this one .. the map up there worries me, you're making several long jumps into Japanese airspace all at once.. make sure you've got him suppressed and yourself covered!

I am worried on 2 counts firstly I am so short of surface assets that I am having real trouble keeping my convoys safe.
secondly I have no idea where KB is. 1 CVL was spotted 5 or 6 days ago at Saipan since then nada.

Air fields in the solomon/ New Britain are suppressed and I can keep them suppressed I hope.

Kavieng will go in 1st and I can LRCAP it from Gasmata/ Green Island

He hit me hard at Derby sinking some Tankers.

Without more surface assets I simply cannot protect all my bases and losses like this will happen every now and then.

Cest la Vie no point in getting upset about it.

TBolts are really good Barge Killers

RE: Andy Mac v PZB ....The Allies Fight Back

Hi Andy,
let´s beliefe he has his carriers in Saipan. He can reach Hawaii or Port Moresby in a matter of days.
I´d think he has spy subs out, possibly with planes but I estimate he would stay those planes down until he has his carriers nearby. So you should improve your ASW efforts.
Set all levelbombers at ASW and try to find his subs. If there are very many eg near the Westcoast you´ll know where he will go.

You know PzB, he is a sneaky guy. He knows that you know he wanted to go after your convoys. Might he be nasty enough to do it exactly because of that? Because he thinks you won´t believe he is that "mean"?

The kongo was hit near Marcus Island (I am not sure about the coordinats though) what was it doing there? The big shooting is all near Truk. Would a BB run this route to get to Truk? Or would it run this way to get to Midway? Midway would mean carrier raids as there is nothing he he could do with a BB (shelling Pearl would be suicidal). You are so weak in Ships that as an escorting SC TF a CA would suffice easily. What is that BB good for? There?
If you like what I said love me,if you dislike what I say ignore me!

Hmmm not so sure now I sent a recon over Truk last turn and picked up a lot of Zekes on CAP Im wondering if he has split KB.

Kongo is a tell but a tell for what Im not sure.

If he was going to attack he will do it in one of two ways.

1. a raid on the West Coast to Pearl shipping lane or
2. wait for my invasions and try to attack at Kavieng or Admiralities.

Of the two possibilities 2 is the more likely. I just dont see 1 being practical because I knew he was thinking about it and why risk his carriers in a futile raid.

Of course he may not know its futile.

All of my high value convoys are in port (the Convoy with 2 US Divs docked at pearl yesterday) and it will be a month before Intrepid will be ready. I may hold Colorado and North Dakota on the west coast until they can accompany Intrepid to Pearl they are at 2 and 9 sys respectively.

I must admit I am puzzled. Of course IMO the best course of action for PZB is to sit back and wait. If he does launch a commerce raid I am probably not going to commit my Carriers as three of them still have Wildcats its just not worth it.

Andy

Apart from several 2 or 3 AK convoys there is nothing worth hitting between Pearl and SF and there wont be for a month !!!

I think PzB will remain patient... I doubt he will risk his Carrier TF down in the South Pacific. You have way too many airfields which you can place your LBA's.

This is just guess but I think he will try harm your convoy TF's... They are easy prey and you don't have too much naval forces left to protect your supply routes? [&:]

Against full KB nothing I have short of my own carriers will suffice to stop them and I have 6 CV's and 6 CVL's at Pearl but half the fighters are still Wildcats and I am light on AA escorts so I am not going to risk a 1 on 1 carrier battle unless I have no choice.

And nothing at sea for the next month is worth that risk

My perswonall view following seeing all those Zekes at Truk is that he is going to sit back and wait. I just dont see the risk being justified for him.

I would kill just now for 10 more decent cruisers and a few RN CV's (for the Corsairs to boost CAP and Barracuda range 5 TB's)

Do you fancy any chances at reopening the Indian front? By eary 44 you will be getting a LOT of CVE's, which will greatly help with convoy and invasion fleet escort. I think by then you can assemble two forces strong enough to take on KB and make a two pronged attack. One on , say phillippines and another on India perhaps? The RN should give you a nice bunch of ships (BB's especially) and units by then.

edit: Oh yeah, just noticed that Richelieu arrives in SF. Very nice ship, should boost your SF capabilities nicely. I'd love to see her in action.

To be honest I dont get that much equipment at karachi to make it worth while until late 44.

As long as PZB keeps Bombay and Karachi well garrisoned my options are limited I would take 4 or 5 US Divisions to re open the treasure chest whereupon I would get a bunch of HQ's lots of Air but only 3 or 4 Divisions of troops and not that many ships. And then only after a hard fight lvl9 forts almost certainly and heavily mined

I may consider it in early 45 but to be honest I doubt I will ever have the stregnth or assault shipping to do it in this game.

I wish I did but in order to achieve it I would need to shut down Centpac or SWPAC and thats just not practical.

Quiet few turns doing barge busting .... its quiet too quiet.

Preparations continue for the next leap forward as men, tanks and supplies are assembled for Op Plan Argyll. I have most of 3rd Marines resting my shipping is coming together and I am awaiting a Corps HQ and 2 Armoured Regts and the last Bde of Amercal and Ill be ready.

I think Mass (my last operational BB in SOPAC will need to cover the invasion

What do you think I should do with my subs Nomad left lots of them in massive interlocking patrol lines between Anchorage/ Dutch Harbour and Midway and I havent moved them yet I am afraid of air ASW and was going to hold off for next patch before committing them I think this is sensible.

Does anyone know the date that allied sub doctrine wears off and my subs start to attack ?

Looking in the manual - there is NO mention of Allied Sub Doctrine that i can find (using PDF searches)!!![X(]

However, iirc, the Allied Sub doctrine disappears once they get decent torpedoes, and that is in Sept 1943.
