RE: Immortal PZB vs Bwheatley
In tonights turn nothing crazy just repulsed his attacks at davao & Clarkfield. I choose to hold clark instead of manila. I know its not urban hex but the extra forts and the extra retreat hex make me feel happy

RE: Immortal PZB vs Bwheatley
Well today i saw the first AK's a few hexes out from midway thanks to my subs. I have evaced bits of both enginerring units on the subs so they will be able to regen at pearl hopefully.
His attacks were once again repulsed at clark for the 2nd day in a row. Forts are 77% towards level 5. I prefer Clark over manilla just becuase it gets more supply and its got a better fallback position to lvl 4 forts at bataan

RE: Question about minelaying
Just got this from him...
Defied your guns at Bataan and landed a cavalry division behind your
lines... Cost me all the transports and I'm
not sure I got ashore enough troops to capture the place. But can you
get rid of me and clear a retreat path for your men at Clark?
we'll find out in a sec how bad it was.

Wow pzb is one crazy mofo
I did not expect that. After myself landing on bataan i didn't think an experienced player would throw his fleet to the wind like that. I know japs start with a big transport fleet but those 14 inch shells are nothign to laugh at when hitting a BBs hull.

I was already rushing an engineer to Bataan now i'm also rushing a cav division he only put 780 men on the ground so hopefully i can wipe him out quickly and that will keep him from trying that again.

RE: Immortal PZB vs Bwheatley
He keeps trying to get supplies to bataan and then manilla. My guns at bataan are killing him. He has 780 troops at bataan and they are all support but i dont have any troops to send over to bataan from manilla.
So i released the 15th us RGT from shanghai and am fast transporting it with the DD fleet to bataan hopefully it can destroy the invaders and open up a retreat path if required.
It was nice to see his ships get ripped up though

Invasion of Johnston is on!
Johnston has fallen to the enemy.
This is the map of current PH defenses.

Map of the area

The ships in port.
As you see my sub line i am recalling all of them to PH i will fill the waters between Johnston & PH with subs to engage him. I suspect he'll go for kona or hilo first. I have a rgt of marines offloading in lahaina in a day or two
and i have about 1000 mines being put in lahania too. I will do my best to make sure my navy can interdict him but i wont have them leave PH unless its a big target. That way they can just disband into port to hopefully save them.
I have a CV & a BB fleet out west of johnston about 5 hexes south of midway i was reconning to see if i could spot anything. I am going to have the CV & bb make a 2 hex loop around johnston i am hoping i might be able to bag some unescorted AKs in the waters where he feels safest. II have a couple hold bb's protecting the CV group in order ot make sure langley doesnt go under
Wish me luck the war is on

RE: Invasion of Johnston is on!

My Carrier found what i was hoping for
My BB fleet is going to try to intercept them. My Planes will hopefully launch a strike. Hopefully i can cripple his fuel supply before he launchs his attack. Only 4 TK's too thats hardly enough to sustain all the fuel those thirsty BB's will use. He obviously is not used to WPO yet in terms of fuel usage. Wish my luck boys.

RE: Invasion of Johnston is on!
Did he spotted your spotters (if yes, he will probably change location of his tankers) ? And which hex you will choice for BBs attack ? Looking foward for next turn ... [8D]
Excuse my English ... I hope is better then Your Czech ...

My MatrixGames: WitP, WitP AE, WPO, JTCS, P&S, CoGEE, ATG, GoA, B.Academy, C-GW, OoB all DLCs, all SC, FoG2/E, most AGEOD games ...

Intercept Succesful
How can i tell if he spotted my spotters? I figured as soon as my planes spotted him he spotted me. Isn't that how it works? if not how do you know when they see your planes?
Good news and not so good news. Good news I intercepted his fleet with 6 AO's & 1 AE...
bad news i only sunk 6 Destroyers the rest bugged out. Other not so good news my CV reacted away from enemy carriers so no planes launched. But that did tell me he has his carriers in the area too. The bb's were set to retire so they are retreating at flank speed to PH from the north. The CV bugged out to the south and her DD escorts are running low on fuel so i've put in a course for palmyra. There is 2500 gallons of fuel there i will load up and then return to pearl. I have recalled all my subs and now they are in a screen to the West & SOUTH of Pearl for 4 hexes in those directions now. I just put out 200 mines at lahania and i also just landed a marine RGT at lahania 111 AP. Forts are at 3 on lahania. 1200 mines are a few days away to reinforce lahania. I hope to bleed his units when he lands on lahania. And then use my fleet to engage.
John told me he was sad that we missed a big fleet battle
It would not have gone in my favor just from sheer numbers. I got lucky in this fight i counted 8 torpedoes that missed their mark on me while i hit him with all 4 i fired. And they were big 22inchers
.
I did what i had hoped i would have a shot to do.
1) Catch john off guard
2) Hit a weak fleet (hopefully sink some tankers
) and retreat without engaging his main battle line
It was just dumb luck that had me out there. Right time right place i guess.
No reason to get cocky yet. But it think its more of a psych advantage then military
.
He's been hit when he wasn't expecting it. Though he did have a hell of a guard for those AO's they will be his lifeline. I have a different strategy. I don't really want to engage his battlefleet if i dont have to. I would rather strangle his supply line. His BB"s can be in tip top shape but they still use fuel even to sit in dock and wait for me.

I did what i had hoped i would have a shot to do.
1) Catch john off guard
2) Hit a weak fleet (hopefully sink some tankers
It was just dumb luck that had me out there. Right time right place i guess.
No reason to get cocky yet. But it think its more of a psych advantage then military

RE: Intercept Succesful
From my WitP experience I can say, that if spotting report is in Opertional Report, your planes were spotted ... or your opponent can find it in Operational Report = he will propably change location or heading of spotted TF. On the other way, I know situations, when report was not in the Operational Report but TF was spotted (and displayed on the map). So I'm not sure, but then I expect, that spotter was not spotted ...
Any similar experience ?

RE: Intercept Succesful
Ahh that makes sense i guess. But regardless of wether you are spotted or not if you see something it will show up on the plane spotting cycles right??
IE 2 Japanese ships blah blah
Either way i'm happy my intercept went ok i just wish i could have banged up those AO's those are the only 6 he starts with and i had my chance to screw him over. But to me bringing the AO's and AE's out says he's going to have them halfway between pearl & johnston as a midarea refueling group. Maybe i will leave Langley at palmyra and come up and hit him when he moves his main fleet in for the kill. Though i dont know. I'd be tempted to leave a fleet of BB's to guard them because they are so valuable. But leaving a fleet to guard them would leave me weaker so i might not.
Btw AE's let you rearm in the middle of the ocean right?

RE: Intercept Succesful
Yeah, you will know the infomation from last day afternoon usually, it means, you can compute where spotted ship will be during night turn and than after day turn ... with bigger probability of mistake
Really not sure ... it is in WitP from 1944 I think. So it will doesnt work I suppose, AEs ships will help you rearm gig ships in small harbors ...
