"IF" you get through Malaya and take Singapore, then Ragoon will be at level 9 fort and impossible to take and thus no break into Burma. [&o] Thus, India will be like the US West Coast and unreachable except for a possible raid.

It looks more like the China theater with better Allied resources and counter punch capabilities.[X(]

Any increase in Allied forces (naval, air, land) needs to be off set with about 3:1 increase by the Japanese to give them a chance. It looks like the Allies will be at Tokyo's doorstep by mid-43.

yes
sadly speaking i don't see any reason why to go for war in such military conditions
2-4 carriers can't offset beeing short by something like 10 divisions :-)

you are wrong war will be shorter as it will be maximum effort for taking Java & celebes - palembang will not be secured as well as java
there is not enough fighters to cover all resource places + supress Singapore and be present in Burma and pacific so allies will be free for strategic bombing immiedietaly after taking them

my usual answer is taking them is a very short time span - each with base force and designated fighter force

more resources damaged with less supply

simple OOB "on paper" comparison is not enough - for me Alikchi made very unbalanced mod in LCU /strategic deployment

there is big fun with navy and new toys but main idea is to secure land objectives

BB malaya hunted near Palembang
enemy carriers did not try to eliminate settsu group and retreat to PH
US BB at Suva
Dutch BCs moves to ceylon
in 3-4 days i should be ready with invasion on PM but must decide what to do with KB first
i'm tempted to raid south pac - i know us bbs are there - and they are defenceless at suva

it is weird to me - i noticed p-38F lighting over Singapore in last days of DEC
how the hell i can fight for air superioirity there
1st assault for Johore was very bloody - forts reduced to 5 - numerical advantage less than 2:1 adjusted 1:5
looks like best idea is to withdraw[;)]

sweep mission bring 1:1 losses of my zero against his combined cap
my daitais are 60% strong now as losses are too high
i can't win skies over Singapore even if 80% of my fighters is used over Malaya

few data about air war in malayas

Post by Sneer »

in iron storm due to several factors air war looks diffrently than in stock version
there are plenty of allied planes inmalaya bases and close to them
as I pointed earlier there are 20 fgt sqns in singapore after few days
and most of them are good and very good planes ( hurris/ spitfires /avg tomahawks , P38F )
ap 250-300 + we all know replacements rates are quite high
there is more 4e bombers at start too
+
there is no way japan can block singapore from supply within first months - i think it can be block after Java is taken
with 2k Assault value of troops there is no way to defeat malayan garrison in fight - it needs to be starved first
meanwhile allies can close any malayan airfield within range of their bombers and allied player is forced to attrition play what in stock version happens no sooner than in mid 42 when industry is built up and planes reserves are available
here is example from last combat report
with problem with dealing with bombers in this mod I already posted in thread in main forum
( durability of bombers are increased to lower bloodiness) - there is no way you can stop bombers from reaching targets - AA Changes from Nik mod are not implemented in this game
daily plane losses are 2x - 3x higher than in any stock game I played - despite NIK mod which decrease bloodiness

shape of zero fighters
there are no planes in the pool
factories are during building up
I can't fight air war for which allies are ready and for which they force me

i see no point in further play

Post by Sneer »

Sorry Alikchi but i find this scenario too highly unbalanced to play as Japan
it is over for me -too many toys to allies too fast but what makes this mission impossible is deployment of these toys -

my prediction is that :
Manila will fall within next two weeks
PM will be taken within next two weeks
for burma 3-6 months will be needed and there is no way to cover it from air
Singapore will not fall sooner than 3-4 months after cutting off - if allied player is smart and reinforce Java with troops from india than Java will not fall sooner than in next 3-4 months
estimated fall of fortress - june- september 42
meanwhile Japanese fighter force will disappear - monthly losses that allies can survive costs japan more than monthly production

can Malayas be ignored in the opening ?- they can - but you need to be prepared that you will loose resources and HI from Bangkog and Saigon within first half of 42
also you will be unable to take palembang before Singapore is taken as well as resource island close to it - otherwise industries will be in ruins
Japan don't have enough supply to survive such events

I can withstand beating - in myPBEM against Raverdave see him taking initiative but also know that if there is no space for Japan at the beginning war will be very short
Japan will be in full retreat within next 12 months and war in my estimation will end in the end of 43

i want to thank all Witp -maniacs that support Alikchi and us players in this game

YOu amke some good points Sneer, but I don't think it will be so hard to isolate Singapore, and if it can be isolated, is there really a need to capture before Burma offense starts? For that matter, who says Burma must be taken?

You may well be correct, but Japanese carrier power seems very strong, and naval production has built in surplus right off the bat (I have finished the warship production tables - BTW) so a couple carriers can be accelerated and moved up a year or two. So I see Japan have major control over the water for quite some time.

That being said, I'm only into day 3 of my Iron Storm game so I'm not truly qualified to rebut your claims yet! [:D]

it is a matter of how fast you can take java - taking java before taking malayas or PI leaves you with too little troops available
you need to go there with troops from PI - i think that clearing luzon and minadanoa in 4 weeks is result i shouldn't be ashamed in the community - these are only troops available to you.
it means that they land java in late January or early Feb - in stock version - basing on easier map it takes at least month to clear java - here allies can double defenders forces easily - 2 months? maybe even 3 or 4 with really sgood defence
so we have april - since april Singapore is cut off but it has 100k-150k suppiles inside and extremaly strong cap - i actually lost fighter war in malaya in first 3 weeks of war - japan can't sustain such losses - allies can - i don't see eggageration in my calculations

Burma - Japan needs every bit of buffer zone for later stage of war
if you leave burma to allies you should forget about Hanoi , Bangkok and Saigan as HI and resource centers - they will be in ruins and you will be short on fighters by this time

killing Japan resources is a key to winning WITP - i managed to take under my boots china easily within 42 in my second PBEM only because i concentrated on resources
if you loose industrial potential of indochina you are toasted sooner than you think

I'm still a relative new comer so you are probably right. Once Alikchi and I pick up the pace we will find out in a few months. [:D]
