HQ Support works - its now 5:1 (no modifiers)....

....it's a 6. The Chinese lose both defenders and the Japanese are not disorganised. They needed that...

At least there is one Axis power that do fairly well. [:D]

Again, no US Entry issues for the Chinese city taken. The turn continues...

To try and end the turn only the CW will get a move this impulse. Force H puts to sea to provide round the clock support to the army and air force on the continent.

The turn continues - and its a 3. Rain in the North Temperate. That means -1 on land attacks.

Adolf is angry as hell at the delays:

Adolf Hitler: Tell Guderian, von Bock and von Rundstedt that they better start kicking French bottom NOW or I'm not going to overly happy. I want you all in Toulouse by sunset!

Jodl and Keitel (together): But Mein Fuhrer, the rain... the mud...we cannot move that quickly.

AH: Okay... I was being unreasonable. By tommorrow night....

Four ground strikes are planned, the Luftwaffe target the three hexes to the southeast of Paris + the key hex to the east.

The key hex first - I put my best Stuka onto it. He scores a 2 out of 3 hit rate.

The other three attacks all got at least one hit.

Because of the need to clear this key hex, the German abandon the idea of attacking two hexes and pile everything into the hex east of Paris. von Rundstedt gives HQ Support but aircraft cannot help the odds here.

HQ Support takes the odds to 4:1 +2 on the Blitz table...

...the Germans throw big at last. It's a 9(11). The French lose two units and the third is shattered. Not sure whether to save the Armour or the HQ, but I save the Armour.

The Allies have to end the turn but they need the French line re-organised. Only the French take a move - that still gives an 80% chance of the turn ending...

...but the roll is a 10 - the turn continues! The weather roll is a 2 and Rain continues in the Northern Temperate.

And luck finally shine on the German forces even as the rain pours down.

Just one ground strike this time - against the hex southeast of Paris - which proves successful.

The 41st Panzer Corps spearheads an overrun against the out of supply and disorganised French Infantry holding the line north of the Vosges mountains, and that leaves one automatic attack against the lone 1st French Infantry Division trapped east of the Seine.

The one good news item for the French is that they will almost certainly end the turn with an intact river line.

The Axis comfortably win the initiative this time 9:6 with no re-roll for the Allies available.

Adolf Hitler, sitting gloomily in his cavernous office in the Reich Chancellery, does his best Rod Steiger does Napoleon impression: For [expletive laden rant] sake! Will it never stop raining? This mud will kill us all.

Wilhelm Keitel: Ah Mein Fuhrer, I know this one! Er, I'll be Drouot. Sire I cannot move my canon.

AH: You are the canon Drouot.

WK: I love that film - especially where Blucher and the Prussians save the day at the end like the US cavalry!

AH: Damn right - we won that battle.

Yeah right, let's leave the fantasy world of the Reich Chancellery and head back to France...

The Germans need to break the river line. They put up another 4 ground strikes along the west bank of the Seine and south of the Vosges. They ignore the CW once more.

Indeed - and for the first time for a long while, the German ground strikes miss more than they hit. So its all down to the ground battles.

For the two forthcoming attacks both Guderian and von Rundstedt seek to provide HQ Support. Two bombers are flown in for the southern attack and three precious bombers are used up further north.
