No thanks.

The RN catch the Italians by surprise (Italy 10, CW 2). AA rolls of 1 and 9 cause a slight reduction in the attack strength.

Surprise points are used to boost damage to 2X, 2A. The Swordfish first take out 2 CP's. Where do the Italians wish to place the other X?

X to CL Taranto.

Edit: Allies can't sink Italian CP's in sea, but port strike seems effective.

On an 8 the CL is bottomed. The RN abort another CP. Do the Italians wish to abort a CA or another CP?

I think it doesn't matter, but choose any CA.

M/A 40 Allies 11: Naval Movement

French sub to Italian Coast 4-box.

After a long search, the French sub spots smoke on the horizon heading its way. At periscope depth it awaits it's pray. Of the Axis aircraft there is no sign. The French Captain decides to wait for nightfall and go in on the surface. Searches were Allied 5, Axis 10, giving 8 surprise points. 4 used to choose surface combat and 4 used to increase damage to a D. The Italian convoy is sent to the bottom.

The Allies stay to fight. Do the Axis planes in the 0-box wish to stick around or head back home? If so, where?

Axis planes stay. If aborted, return to La Spezia.

Rolls of Allied 10 and Axis 3 end the combat.

Zhukov begins the rail journey west.

The Chinese pull back slightly in Central China. Gort moves to Plymouth and London Mil to Bristol. A defensive line is formed along the Nile between the coast (disorganised Wavell) and Cairo. The two divisions in Sardinia move to Cagliari.

The French Cav moves to Lyon, it's place taken by vacating the hex SW of Strasbourg. The Mtn pulls back a hex west.

The Russians close up to the Rumanian border.

The CW debark a Garr to Cagliari and declares an attack. The Soviets launch two attacks in Rumania.

I will be offline for some time. Axis choose assault if possible.

HMS Royal Oak adds 2 points of shore bombardment at Cagliari.

3 Lnd add 9 points to the attack on the Rumanian I Inf, while another adds 3 points to the attack on the II Inf.

Final odds. Which tables to the Axis wish to use? The attack on the I Inf will be a Blitz.

Edit: Now I see the picture and assault it is.

First, Sardinia. The Brits nearly botch it with a 7 but weight of numbers carries the day.

The Blitz attack just about makes it but I've forgotten to allow for the weather preventing the breakthrough.

The final combat produces the best die roll. I suspect, however, this will all come to naught as I don't see the Allies getting another impulse this turn.

No re-bases or re-orgs.

The turn continues on an 8.

The weather takes a turn for the worse.

I was thinking you A) forgot there is no break trough in rain or B) had mean plan to invade. I chose war as I calculated turn ends before your next impulse.

Axis will do full pass unless I see a situation I have to attack.

Not so much forgot as missed that little detail in the rules. I had considered the invasion but the odds weren't good enough. Basically screwed up by not waiting for fine weather.

Cav was in south because I was afraid of invasion.

When you claimed Bessarabia it was late of turn, bad weather and I just finished Poland (I had units to rail to Rumania). Also you did not have any units in southwestern part if East Poland.

I made same mistakes in our last game. In the future I claim Bessarabia in early impulse, with fine weather, units all along Rumanian border so that USSR is unstoppable.

M/A 40 Axis 13

No DoW

Germany aligns Hungary, on a roll 9 US does not care.

Germany land, others pass. 80% chance to end turn. Germany gambles with Rumania, but there is too tempting opportunity to attack in France.

Germany rails Mech, INF and MIL to Rumania.

Units in Poland move south. Units in France prepare for attack in Eastern France.

Germany attacks French ARM with odds +4. Does France choose assault or blitz?
