INVADED
Bataan, Changsha, Bassein are also invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP
Rekata Bay is occupied by the Japanese
Japanese forces CAPTURE Sangi !!!

Overall
• KB2 spotted at Singapore (CS, CV, CVL).

• We are aiming to make Pago Pago a hard target so it can withstand significant enemy assault in the absence of the USN carriers. With the units noted below plus the 2x USN Port Maint Eng Bns already on the way the island will have great building capacity to improve defenses and enough firepower to punish any invasion force. The building of additional fortifications (after the airfield reaches 5) will increase resistance to naval bombardment. The supplies already on route will provide significant staying power. Although conventional wisdom is for the Empire to use fleet carriers in the DEI now to overwhelm defenses there it is possible the Empire will anticipate our USN carrier upgrades in March (Lexington class) and April (Yorktown class). All current USN carriers would be needed to resist an Imperial offensive into the Fiji/Samoa area so the Empire only needs to guess or gain SigInt/other Intel on when carriers leave for the more lengthy Lexington class upgrades. I plan to pull all carriers at once as soon as the convoys now loading have made their deliveries. If an Imperial offensive follows, Pago Pago will stand hardy and Fiji (with good supply, upgraded NZ squads, and USA reinforcement) will likely resist until our carriers return.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Both convoys departed yesterday moving without enemy contact.

• At SF and infantry Bn is loading for Christmas Island. Also there two artillery units each with 12x 155 mm guns are loading for Pago Pago along with a large CD unit with 24x 155mm guns. 2x USN Stn Base Forces are also loading primarily for their engineers, but their defensive guns, air support, and naval support will be needed in the even of attack.

Pacific
• Sub(s) off Suva.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Subs near Sydney.

• 1x B-17E lost over Port Moresby.

Philippines
• Imperial forces closing on Bacolad.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• KB2 at Singapore, but no clues about its next move. Obviously an offensive into the DEI is expected.

China
• As feared over Chungking, Zero sweeps took 13x H81-A3, then bombers came in and caused light damage.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• The first of the two upgraded AVG Sqns has moved to Ledo.

• Two Chinese Army infantry units are passing through Myitkyina. Others will pass through the jungle all the way through Burma to minimize detection and interdiction.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• 2 subs on station, no contacts.

Overall
• No carrier sightings, but there are signs of KB1 in the vicinity of Port Moresby, probably east and north of there.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Some of those troop convoys have sailed and one should be ready to sail tomorrow.

Pacific
• Sub(s) off Suva.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain

• All four of our subs in the western Solomon Sea show 10/10 DL; our sub in the eastern Solomon Sea shows 8/8 DL.

• A major effort to punish our 4EB over Port Moresby was made by the Empire with three dozen Zero's appearing at one time in each of two engagements. It looks like we traded 3x B-17's for 3x Zero's.

Is KB1 nearby or did all those carriers leave their squadrons behind? Enough of our B-17's are damaged to make a strike tomorrow have less density and therefore lessened defenses against so they will stand down. That might also make them available for a strike on KB1 in the coming days.

• Our base force sneaking around Sining has been caught by an enemy unit from Sining (must be the 2nd Ind.Mixed Brigade - brought to you in mere seconds by Intel Monkey) and so must slow its movement.

• There was no repeat of the sweep/bombing raid on Chungking in spite of clear skies. None of our remaining fighters are ready to fly anyway but we have a numbers of bombers on the ground making attractive targets. One P-40B AVG Sqn transferred to Kunming and the other transferred to Ledo.

Good morning George,

Could you post a current strategic map showing base ownership ? My game is about a week behind yours in game time ( we are on Feb 25th), and I'd like to compare maps.

1942 March 04

INVADED
Bataan, Changsha are also invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• KB1 spotted against the New Guinea coast 1 hex NW of Buna.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• The troop convoy leaves for Pago Pago tonight.

Pacific
• USS Trout has laid mines at Namu (1 hex SE Kwajalein).

• CL's Concord and Trenton and DD's Conyngham and Downes are 1 hex NW of Nauru Island and are unseen so far as we know. They will bombard that enemy resource center tonight and head back to Pago Pago.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• KB1 is against the New Guinea coast 1 hex NW of Buna, clearly tucked in there to avoid our submarines. They are in a Jungle-Rough hex and obviously at heightened risk of the game's evil dice rolls. Our B-17's rested so did not meet KB1's fighters over Port Moresby as must have been planned by the Empire's diabolical commander. We have 5 subs on patrol nearby and none of them show any detection, proving KB1 is proceeding cloaked. Now we have them sighted, albeit under severe storms, our subs are the ones cloaked while their prey is visible.

Philippines
• Air strikes and ground bombardments.

DEI, Dutch new Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Mines we laid at Miri two days ago have been discovered and are being cleared.

China
• That small unit east of Sian was destroyed and the Imperials are heading NW.

• The base force near Sining did get roughed up and will run down the road despite near certainty of being destroyed by the pursuit.

• Both P-40B AVG squadrons are at Kunming and will transfer together to Chungking after tomorrow to oppose the Zero sweeps and hopefully tear into the bombers. Chungking's base has light damage so far.

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina
• The 17th Australian Brigade has arrived at Colombo, boosting that base's AV to 1,241.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia
• 2 subs on station, no contacts.

It,s just me, but I might have those boat skippers pull on their big boy pants
and wade into the shallows; the hunting looks good. Have you used any PPs to
for skippers?

Your opponent seems to have made a significant push through the Solomons while ignoring the DEI.

What does your defense of Palembang look like?

Are you seeking to contest it given his slowness in moving on it?

If you aren't contesting the DEI he has given you ample time and a clear path to evacuate even the short legged auxiliaries to Oz by hopping down the island chain.
