Warsaw surrounded STEF78 (Axis) Oshawott (USSR)

Post by STEF78 »

Turn 145, 23th march 1944

Heavy pressure in Poland, pockets cleared, Warsaw surrounded, 2 soviet moves before mud!!!!

Armaments at zero as usuual. Not enough AP to reorganize this beautiful patchwork.

Oshawott is all in for Poland, no significant efforts in others area.

Turn 146, 30th march 1944

1 soviet move before mud.

Dangerous development near Danzig. XXXth Pzk sent as firemen.

Global view of the front. Always surprised to hold a big part of Romania. I give ground in the north.

Mud STEF78 (Axis) Oshawott (USSR)

Post by STEF78 »

Turn 147, 6th april 1944

There is only one word to qualify my winter 43/44 campaign: DISASTROUS

- I failed to anticpate the northern pincer in Kiev
- I was obviously to agressive while counterattacking in order to rescue the surrounded units. The results was the loss of half of my mobile troops!

This losses made me unable to counterattack efficiently the russians spearheads. Oshawott has now an highway to super-strategic victory.

With the alternance of mud/clear turns I will be able to reach june maybe july 1944.

Damn, that snowballed pretty quickly. Oshawott is a year early. How's the Oder looking in terms of fortifications?

level 2 (soon 3)on 2 hexes deep but it won't stop him more than 2 turns.

I have another line before but not strong enough

Mud offensive! STEF78 (Axis) Oshawott (USSR)

Turn 149, 20th april 1944

Soviet superiority is so strong that Oshawott can continue his attacks during mud turns!

Image

And the final odds are really worrying. Clear turns will be harsh. 102 engineers value seems to be a record.

Compliments for excellent images; too bad you're facing an early loss. But maybe you've got "wunderwaffe" coming along!

Thanks

Me262 arrive in june 1944

But in order to win I would need at least
- 500 F16 or Tornado
- 500 B2
- 500 M1 Abrams or Leopard 2
- 2 000 expérienced squad

I will look in my bag if there is something like that...

Even if you stripped the Western Front, I doubt you'd be able to hold him on the Oder for more than a few additional turns.....

the odds in that second battle are terrifying, especially given this is a mud turn

Oshawatt certainly seems to be of the view that if something is a good idea then lots more of it makes it a superb idea - he's produced levels of artillery support I've never seen before so why not of engineers too?

Turn 152, 11th may 1944

The northern front before soviet moves. I give some hexes in Poland to avoid some Inf deliberate attacks. Circles are around russians FBD. It gives the places wheresupply is max. Lodz?

This will end badly, I'm afraid.

Does it actually matter how high the engineering value is? Does it make a real difference whether the engineering value is 10 or 100? I build sappers mainly because I know that the Axis will build rows after rows of fortifications and because I'm lazy. I know what sappers do and that they don't use a lot of vehicles. They are the most generic support unit you can build. Many of the other support units I don't really understand and I don't have the time to figure it out. If you want to figure this out you would have to look at every combat with detail level 5 or higher.

I also build AFV-using support units - to clear the pools of equipment that was already paid for. I have severe shortages of T-34/85, so why not ease the burden of fighting they carry, by fielding 2000 SU-76M, 1000 IS-2 and 500 ISU-122 more?

As expected, main attack is in Lodz sector.

I have given ground and the first attack didn't pierce my lines

You're quite pessimistic. The game will not be ended turn 157.

My bet is between 162 and 167

Oh, I had to elaborate my statement - I didn't care about Berlin, I was thinking about Paris and keeping the iron curtain as far east as possible...

Seriously, as others have mentioned, you did fine in the defence and it is really not easy nowadays to survive as Germans, you will allways need serious mistakes from STAVKA.
