A sad thing, looks like the SD never fired a shot.

Indeed the BB and the CA would have better served in the covering surface combat TF.  I usually only put DD/DE or other escorts in transport TFs, and perhaps a CL.  The only exception is as allied player to protect high-seas convoys from raiders.  But from what FatR wrote in his AAR, South Dakota had a really unlucky day.  It not necessarily should have come that badly.  What was the weather in the hex?  Engaging at 1000y was probably the IJN commanders best dream: night of the Long Lances...

I was surprised I held the line in the center position in china.  I suspect the japs will never be able to move me out now.

How is the supply situation for your troops in Burma? Are you having any trouble keeping them well supplied?

How well are your forces in Burma being supplied overland from India? Are you having any problems?

Yes and no. I landed alot of supply along w/ a USN BF at akyab.
Ramree is a level one AF. In the irrawaddy plain before I was out manovered by FatR I did not have a supply issue

I lost 2 indian divisions in a trap at Magwe. My fault. I see I will need to advance on a front w/ a corp in each hex to insure that does not happen again.
The supply usage will increase next time because i am going in w/9 or more divisions. All forward bases will have to be prestocked.

I do not have my forward bases max build up to supply a heavy allied push. I get this from reading other threads. i will need time and adjustments. FatR has done a good job defending Burma. He has humbled me.

43-mar-5: Seems i have killed 12 jap subs in the past thirty days.  It has taken some time to train all the LR hudsons w/ Aus/NZ into ASW trained search planes.  All have ASW pilots into the 60s.  Combine this w/ 50point ASW value TFs and the effect has been timely.

RE: Rabaul

Post by bigred »

Revenge for Calcutta.  30x 4e's make a long range attack at 16000 ft over Rabaul w/ no cap.  Recon reports 70 ships in port.  Bye bye Hosho!!! I wonder what the hit ratio is in severe storms w/ 150 bombs at 60exp. probably not much. 2 turns earlier a b24 had placed a skip bomb into the Chikuma at Lunga. Was hoping to catch the Chikuma in port at Rabaul. So I may have made the raid too early.

Morning Air attack on Rabaul , at 106,125

Weather in hex: Severe storms

Raid detected at 158 NM, estimated altitude 19,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 54 minutes

Allied aircraft
     B-24D Liberator x 3
     B-24D1 Liberator x 20
     PB4Y-1 Liberator x 7

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
CVE Hosho, Bomb hits 1,  on fire

Aircraft Attacking:
      7 x PB4Y-1 Liberator bombing from 15000 feet *
Port Attack:  5 x 500 lb GP Bomb
      3 x B-24D Liberator bombing from 15000 feet *

She's in a major port though- good odds they'll get the fires out and she'll be repaired.

1.  I now have3 to5 aces in every front line sqn.
2.  FatR is tired.  He either rested his ftr's and forgot to turn off his bombing run or he underestimated my CAP streght and my reserves available.
3. fatR and john3rd are really putting a effort into the perfect war mod(probably at expense of FatR focus on this game).
