Hi everyone, Cpt Flam kindly invited me to contribute to the AAR from the Axis side. I should add - I don't usually look at this much, and not while I still am playing my response. So, in a while, you will see what I have done to continue the mad panzer advance towards the Don, north of the bulge of Soviet defences around Stalino.

I want to make three observations. First, Patrick is a really tough defender...very aggressive in his approach, which made my 1941 attacks hard. I thought I had done pretty well, and then held on in the blizzard, but the outcome is, I think, quite clear -- the Axis will be defeated (again). The offensives in the north, during 1942, are really worrying me and, even with a total concentration of all my armour down south, I have only just managed to get through and have not really pocketed much. Second, my one regret with this game is that it was afflicted by the partisan cadre bug which meant, for much of the last 6 weeks of 1941, my southern advance, and defensive prep for winter, were badly damaged. Hats off to Patrick for using it -- no complaints, just a little frustrating :). I think there are some important lessons here for Soviet defenders in 1942 ... you have to attack a lot, in other places. You need to force open pockets. You need to start winning the war in this year, so as to avoid too much slogging in 1943.

Now, I am just hoping the Soviets have run out of defenders :). But i doubt it.
I still remember cardboard!
