Yes, but not attacking Italy early with a lot of force is causing difficulties now. Italy is likely to survive the war even after Germany is conquered.

Several attacks in France and in Russia pushes the Axis forces back and breaks holes in the fronts.

The line in France is now at the Seine and Rhone rivers with a bridgehead across the northern Seine.

I find emotions going both ways watching the collapse of one side and the rebound of the other in these grand strategy games.

In Russia large attacks led by Zhukov blew a 5 hex wide hole in the German lines. The Germans now have two not very large groups in Russia and will have to retreat rapidly to save them.

Axis impulse 1 July/August 44 ( impulse @ 2 ) Fine everywhere

Germany abandoned Moscow and Kalinin in their moves westwards to reestablish a defensive line which at its southern end is still Rostov. Ryazan and Voronesh are back in Russian hands.

In France the new reinforcement troops have moved into France just west of the Belgian border and are trying to hold the Allies there. The Italians are being backed up to their own borders in the south.

Japan sent out ships and planes to maintain control over their defensive and oil and resource sea lanes.

Axis impulse 3 July/August 44 ( impulse # 6 ) Fine weather except N Monsoon storm

Germany has rushed westwards in Russia and they a re now sort of safely on the west side of the Dnieper river but only one unit per hex. This will not hold long. Afterthis there are no troops available outside of Germany itself.

Italy is holding their mountain hexes west of Italy itself as best they can.

Japan is awaiting the US onslaught when the weather changes in the Monsoon areas, meanwhile they are patrolling their sea lanes.
