5 goals in 30 minutes who would have thunk it. Now that makes for an exciting game.
warspite1

I disagree. One can admire the German play of course but this is not an exciting match - the match is dead.
I find it exciting but that might be because I admire how the Germans play.

The match is indeed over already but that is more because the Brazilians can't get their act together rather than the result. Some time ago I watched Germany play a 4-4 draw in a game where they had a 4-0 lead in half time.
warspite1

Yes but I bet they weren't 4-0 down playing like $%^&*

So ,if Brasil had stopped 6 of the seven goals 1-0 would have made it more exciting? What if Brasil had scored 6 goals in return and it was 7-6. Now that would have been more exciting.

Yep I remember that match. The germans couldn't believe what had happened. I really enjoyed the match because for once the commentator just shut his mouth and stopped talking the normal dribble that germans commentators do.

Its all a matter of ones perspective. 7-6 would have been more exciting. Offensive match Then a 1-0 match.(defensive match). Goes to my earlier point more scoring more exciting match.

I couldn't imagine a circumstance where a 1-0 was more exciting than a 7-6.

All I was saying was, I greatly admired the German play - clinical, ruthless, accurate, skilful - but the match was not exciting. It was over as a contest at 3-0 - and indeed the way Brazil were playing, probably at 2-0.

I think exciting is not the word for the game. Entertaining though.

I certainly enjoyed watching it

Can't believe it will be an all European final in South America, but I feel confident it will be and I'm definitely going for a Dutch win in the final.

After what we've just seen Germany do you're a brave man supporting the Dutch. Then again I'm Northern Irish so historically obliged to support the Dutch as well - come on the Orangemen [:)]

However 7-1 against Brazil!

7-1 !!

Yes, but the Brazilians were pretty woeful. The Germans had some very clinical finishing but other than that did nothing out of the ordinary. They played very simple football and played it well.

Best wishes,
Steve

I personally don't agree with more goals=more entertaining. It dilutes the difficulty of scoring one of them, takes away the beauty of the goal. Of 99 problems Football Soccer has, scoring pace ain't one of them. To each his own I guess.

This match was the worst of the tournament for me by far (bar the non-penalty one [:D]).

Match was over at 20minutes, Brazil nervous as hell, Germany just as methodically, calm and relentless as it is known but now with more aim. The perfect embodiment of everything German encapsulated into a football team.

By far the worst Brazil match I've seen. Everyone that participated should be sacked and never be called again specially the awful defense.

Most of the people who want more goals are Americans.

I don't think they 100% understand this game (nothing wrong with that). I have seen countless of really good matches with few goals.

And I am pretty certain most of you could say the same.

No, 7 - 1 is NOT a good match. It's a massacre [:D]

For me, the entertainment came from watching the Germans teach the Brazilians how to play football. And let's be honest, it is not often you get to see one of the leading footballing nations get totally humiliated.

If this was Germany v Saudi Arabia and a thumping, it would not have been anywhere near as entertaining as watching Brazil get a thumping.

Best wishes,
Steve

well, we somehow hit a glass jaw with the 1 goal ...and then they got blitzed [:D]

the next match starting with zero again, of course
and (probably) the Dutch will not collapse mentaly from a single goal arrear ...there will be hard work to be done to secure the cup

I just think that under van Gaal, Holland are finally going to end their World Cup misery.

Hi all,

The "Brazilian bubble" had to burst at some point... it was just a question of time!

BTW, this Brazil is not a shadow of Brazil from the past that we all love to watch... [:(]

In group Brazil won over Croatia with the help from referee (Neymar not getting deserved red card for hitting Modric, not existing penalty for Brazil and disallowed regular goal for Croatia), they played 0:0 with Mexico and only beat the weak Cameroon. After that it was 1:1 against Chile and lucky penalties that got them through. In quarter finals it was 2:1 against Colombia (again with regular Colombian goal disallowed by the referee)...

All in all the Brazil had huge support from referees (for being the host country) - their actual play was mediocre at best!

In AFL (Australian Football League) Brian Lake choke a opponent. If I understand it correctly Brian got four matches banned after the "incident". I do not understand how they could even consider letting him play ever again. [X(]

Here is a link showing him choking Drew Petrie who looks unconscious to me before he is hidden by other players.
