Western Front / Italian Front
Situation Report Sept 11th 1943 Turn 11
Losses and Combat Stats
We continue to heavy ground losses due mostly to the enemies Air Force.
Allied air units continue to take losses but have a large replacement pool of both manpower and machines.
Most production looks OK but Oil and Supply stores are worrying.
All combat results for this week.

Situation Report Sept 16th 1943 Turn 44
Army Group North
Operational Boundary changes
9th Armee now comes under control of Army Group North
Despite the terrible terrain in the North Units from 18th Armee and 9th Armee move rapidly through the swampland's and encircle the 51st Army before it could react and escape, more enemy troops advance towards Cherepovets but our troops are well dug in leaving the enemy no chance to launch any counterattacks to rescue the trapped 51st.
Two ArmeeKorps from 18th Armee are to be rested for now.
The situation in the Yaroslavi is still quiet, the enemy for now seems focused on the Moscow front, XXIII ArmeeKorps ( 9th Armee ) pushes towards Teikovo while units from 8th Armee advance towards Orekhovo,Petushki and Vladimir, X ArmeeKorps comes under assault but the 18th Pz Gren contains the attack while the 20th PZ Gren pushes forward.
The 60th Rifle Corps makes another attempt to break out but as our front line moves further East there situation gets more hopeless.

Moscow remains encircled, the enemy launches repeated assaults hoping to break our lines and force a land corridor to the Soviet Capital, our defences are to strong and the Soviets are thrown back with heavy losses, Stalin refuses to surrender.
Around the Moscow perimeter itself our forces edge closer with Khimki taken after bitter street battles.
One of the many bloody battles, our troops fighting street by street at Khimki
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoBUn__ ... ex=41&t=1s
At Lipetsk The Soviets renew there offensive, in the North 49th Army attacks trying to cut off XXX ArmeeKorps, the 333rd Inf Div is threatened with encirclement only the timely arrival of the 25th Panzer Div enables the battered Inf Div to fall back to safety, in the South the enemy attacks with 5 Tank Corps supported by 4 Inf Corps ( 1st Guards Army and 9th Army ), the 56th Inf Div at Lipetsk is almost isolated with only small corridor of escape towards Usman.
At Voronezh 2nd Armee has beaten back the enemy for now as XXXV ArmeeKorps pushes the front line a further 10 miles forward.

Army Group South
The Soviets launch several attacks along the front line against Axis forces in the Belgorod sector but gain little in territory, Gen Woehler ( Army Group South ) confident that his forces can maintain control and counter any Red Army threats in the region orders that 2nd Hun Army be withdrawn out of the line and redeployed to the rear for a much needed rest.
The Soviet offensive against Army Group South has collapsed completely as 4th Pz Armee destroys the Soviet 40th Army,on the right flank Gen Paulus traps the remnants of 67th Army. With Stalingrad a little more than 100 miles away there is a temptation to push on to the city and retake it.
The Army Group Commander assess the situation and orders his forces not to overextend there positions and fall into the same trap from the previous winter.

On the ground more heavy fighting as Axis defences hold, as the 189 Res Inf Div moves onto the front line and 10th Panzer Div deploys into the rear area as a reserve,on the North coast road east of Cefalu Patton's 7th Army supported by French units launch an armoured assault, our forces hold fast as Patton relaunches the attack again Axis troops contain the attacks. Even with minimal air support 5th Pz Armee and Ital 6th Army are maintaining a solid line.
Further South Gen Hube's XIV Pz Korps along with units from 6th Army thwart another breakthrough attempt, the enemy massing over 750 AFV's from US II Corps and The Brit XXX Corps, failing here the enemy switches its axis of attack to the centre massing 3 Corps again with over 700 AFV's against both German Korps, here to the enemy its fought to a stand still.

Strategic Situation update
The Balkans
Axis Control of Yugoslavia, Albania and Greece remains steadfast with Army Group E ( Greece ) and Army Group F ( Yugoslavia ) Axis forces ever vigilante to enemy partisan activities.
Allied Landings In The Dodecanese
While the Main fighting has been centred on Sicily The Allies launch an attempt to capture the strategically important Dodecanese islands in the Aegean Sea, on Sept 8th British Forces land in force on the islands of Rhodes, Leros and Kos, heavy fighting begins as Axis forces battle to keep control of the excellent deep-water port of Portolago on the island of Leros, while the Allied force is sizeable Army Group F and E Commands have been alerted to the fact that 3 Allied Airborne Divs ( US 82nd, 101st and Brit 1st ) have not been used either in operations on Sicily or sent to The Aegean
The fact that these troops have not been used since the initial landings indicates the enemy may be preparing an airborne operation behind our lines on Sicily or landings on Sardinia, Corsica or the Italian mainland itself in the hope of destabilising the Italian Government.
The strategic situation for the entire Western theatre could be at risk if Italy surrenders

With The weather turning worse FM Von Kluge orders all units to go on the defensive in the Moscow sector and prepare for winter quarters, 4th Armee Inf directly opposes the Red Army with its Pz units as a mobile reserve just behind the front line. Around Moscow itself elements of 3 German Armee's block any land escape for the trapped enemy troops.
On the Southern Central front 2nd Armee counterattacks driving back enemy forces and is able to trap part of the Red Army force, units from 3rd Pz Armee are rushed to the battle sector as Usman comes under heavy attack from 4 Soviet Army's.
The line holds and The Voronezh Front is unable make any ground.

What seemed to be the end of any enemy action In The Caucasus has proved to be wrong as The North Caucasus Front is once again on the attack massing 7 Tank Corps for battle.latest Intelligence has identified these units as being Tank formations reformed from old units destroyed from earlier battles. The Red Army's ability to quickly reconstitute destroyed units and get them back into the lines is troubling. The enemy launches some fresh attacks but they contained, 17th Armee has taken up its position with Romanian troops in reserve.

Maybe you are saving trucks or the turn isn't finished yet, but I think you can be far more aggressive on the Eastern Front. E.g. hit the artillery division in front of Moscow or encircle the tank corps against the Caspian Sea with your units. Continuous frontlines are not necessary in many places, and units in quiet sectors can advance to put extra pressure on the Soviets and deprive them of manpower centres. War is also the art of knowing where forces are not gainfully employed, so they can be used elsewhere.
