Oh man, I've done that before. Ugh. Particularly in the DOS days it was so easy to F-up and delete the wrong things.

Especially when you didn't remember the abbreviations in the 8.3 save format!

But how about the woman who folded the five and a quarter inch floppy disk and used a magnet to hold it to the bottom of her desk so she would not lose the important information!

I don't recommend printing this out, but it is possible to do so and wind up with a *somewhat* reasonable number of pages. First step is to hide columns M through AK - they have useful background information, but for the most part are of little use when it comes to the "Day 2" moves. Second is to play around with the "Print Preview" settings - I still use Excel 2007 so if you have a different version (or are using Open Office), then these instructions may not work exactly, but there should be equivalents in your version. Anyway:

1) Open "Print Preview"
2) Click the "Page Set-up" tab
3) On the "Page" tab, set "Orientation" to "Portrait" and "Scaling" as "Fit To: 1 wide by 200 long" (Don't worry - yet)
4) On the "Margins" tab, reduce the top, bottom and side margins to the absolute minimum (same with header and footer)

At this point (assuming you have 8.5 by 11 paper) you should have a document that is 81 pages long. That's a lot, but for those who must have paper, it's at least usable.

CAVEATS: The font size is going to be rather small, plus if you aren't printing in color, many of color-specific codes are going to appear as various shades of grey (thus not very helpful), AND you' lose the top 6 header rows from Page 2 on down.

If you change the orientation from "Portrait" to "Landscape", that will solve the "font too small" issue (assuming it's a problem for you - test that out before printing all 81 pages, please!), but it does so at the cost of additional pages (going from 81 to 139).

EDIT: Another way to deal with "font size" is to hide a few more columns. A & J are the least useful, but after that it gets tricky. Maybe HQ (H) or Nation (I), but those can be helpful.

It's very easy to do. Select "Print" and when it asks you to provide the "Printer Name" (probably already pointing to your existing printer), click the Down Arrow in that box and select "Microsoft Print to Pdf" and then "OK"

If you follow the instructions in my earlier post, you can remove the unnecessary columns and have a much smaller and cleaner document to follow.

Any college students with the game who have access to college printers with free paper and ink might want to print it there.

Just dropping in for a quick "Thank you" to Kull for this wonderful creation. New player to the game (coming in after a dozen years of WitE/WitE2 play) and this spreadsheet is fantastic. Still working to finish setting it up, but am excited to start my first full campaign. Have played some of the smaller scenarios against the AI. Thanks again for keeping this a living document.

My next WitP Tutorial videos are going to feature your spreadsheets and my methods for using them. In my opinion, your setup spreadsheets are the absolutely best tool for new players to get acclimated to the grand campaigns. I am always pushing their use on my Discord.

As much as I admire Kull's work and perseverance needed in creation of his spreadsheets, I just couldn't get into using them for two reasons

- I don't like Excel per se ( I grew up with text editors)
- I found Excel cumbersome to add expository information i.e. WHY I give certain orders to LCUs/ships/air groups

Thus, I created a Word file and started putting the first turn info in a more narrative way. This allows me to explain why some of my opening variants become defunct with time.

Yes, that is nice. It explains the "why" and not just the "who, what, and where" of the deployments. I have never used Kull's spreadsheets but I understand that they help a lot of new people. A brief text file explaining just a few of the deployments and why could also help new players. Even if all of the deployments are explain and maybe only just one explained, it could help new players grasp the campaign game much easier and quicker.

I have the feeling that requests for a downloadable version of Yaab's deployments will shortly be pouring in.

It is not "Pocałuj mnie w (insert common word for) Equus Asinus" which is close to, but not quite the same, as "kiss my grits!"

"Bitte" is please in German as in "Ich möchte noch ein bier, bitte."

But "proszę przygotować plik tekstowy" might get it for you but then you would have to translate it unless you use "proszę przygotować plik tekstowy w języku angielskim" which would be in English. But you might still be able to understand it if no English slang terms would be used.
