i'm still trying to get my melon around the "hammer a nail into concrete" concept...

They actually make fluted nails designed to be hammered into concrete to hold edge guards, braces etc, for those of us who cant afford a Hilti.

wow...those handy-man types think of EVERYTHING! [;)] my wife can attest that i'm not even close to being a handy-man type - as evidenced by my lack of nails-for-concrete knowledge...i did open a particularly stubborn pickle jar for her the other day...otherwise, i might be considered completely useless to her... Considering the young Lt. is stuck on Nauru Is., the Japs have taken Rabaul and Lunga and Tarawa, the KB is loose in the South Pacific AND the mail boat is late, I would say he should feel lucky if he is able to reproduce.

If it happens, I would favor something like Jane Uppington-Smyth nez Gauno

Oh, I see, you mean the maiden name thing.

I forgot to mention that the Lt. is the 3rd great grandson of Chief Dan George of the Nez Guano tribe of the Platte River valley. Quite an amazing story, really.

The Z key

2 US Army Regts. and 1 USMC Regt. are unloading at Noumea. There are now 2 squadrons of Marine SBD's and a Marine F4F squadron to cover the landing. We are one day closer to NOT having a disaster if the KB shows up again.

To try to stop that from happening, there are PBY's at Luganville, Noumea, Fiji and Funafuti.

How did the Spanish take the French barging in and renaming all their Indian tribes like that?

Much as "Netties" are Nells and Betties with similar performance envelopes and mission profiles, I believe that the vernacular "stringbags" refers to both Swordfish and Vildebeest aircraft in the same derivative category.
