Japan is far from defeated, and her economy is mostly intact. Because of that, her naval and air build capacity is basically intact. I am sure he is beginning to roll back production typical to this time of war, but I don't think he is in crises yet.

With Palembang lost, does Japan have any other "gold mine" bases like that? Or does it even matter anymore?
Attritional combat is useless at this point for the empire.
to your point if it matters, I think we are coming down to the last major counterpulse the empire will conduct. I expect it will be at the point I hit the Philippines. If it is in character, I expect every last kami, combat ship, airplane, and kitchen sink he can muster. I expect noise ships interfering with allied air and naval, and every last small combatant he can muster. It will be a whole stack of fun when it happens.
Still a long shot. The end game hasn't changed for the empire despite all the steroids we added.
Ruskies lose their first sub near tshushima and japs catch that transport tf trying to run to Sakhalin. NO major land combat on Asia. I lose 4 transports from that task force, but rest will make the safety of Sakhalin CAP.
Empire AA units on Kwajaaen take 60 planes operational losses. Pretty stiff, but I don't see a way around it. There are mines there, and I failed to sweep them earlier because of the coastal fort 9 (which my enemy has so graciously informed me about). The Kwaj invasion is in two turns. There are three units 8K, and this past turn I hit it on airfield attack with everything I had. One turn of ground and then invade.
Namlea in the DEI still holds despite being on SNLF with no AV. Frustrating, and I am diverting forces meant for Celebes to wrap this one up.
ON we plod. With my and my esteemed friend's work and travel schedule, we go through periods of only a handful of turns per week...
August 15 Results were somewhat disappointing
bad weather prevented air operations at Kwajalaen. Invasion is ready, but I still need 2 turns of ground support. Tarawa and Kusai finally appear to be stripped of supply and ready for an invasion, but I am bogged down at Kwaj and then I queued Roi Namuer. Oh well.
I used my backup invasion forces for Namlea, and the base fell in the first turn. proceeding to build a large base. Forces in that area now need to reload before proceeding further west. reduction activities on ternate and Ambon will continue, but not rush to invade either location.
enemy is pushing another TF to Truk with escorts. we might have a surface combat shortly.
Russia is developing slowly - very different than historical. first major land combat reduces arshhaan 105.33 to level 5 fort. outcome not in doubt, but will take time. still 5 or so days away from major forces getting to hailer 107.30 in western Manchukuo and Mishan 114.42
Around truk - list looks to be very interesting. really unsure why the enemy is going to burn assets to resupply truk. The base is lost, and air bombardment will strip any supply quickly. Also keep in mind has has way too many troops on the island.
Russian Subs have been on the losing end of ASW warfare near Fusan. Empire air attacks into eastern Siberia haven't been met by CAP yet, but I keep trying. IN Russians are far less mobile than historically. The road network slows them down. Some major combat in western Manchukuo further partially reduces a city fortress. Russian might is getting close to being deployed in the eastern sector. Western sector Russian units continue to aggregate and will do so for some time.
In DEI Damar finally falls, and allied transport are in the vicinity of Darwin reloading for a new attack. On Sumatra , the allies are driving on both ends of the island. Oosthaven on the eastern end will be a key launching point for Java and Borneo
In Marshalls, about three bad weather turns finally broke, nd the ground support attacks finally started. One more turn and I will attack
At Truk, cruiser surface combat occurred. Light casualties for both sides. I was responding to what I thought was a resupply effort. In fact it was an effort for surface combat. Amazingly I sent a ship without ammo, and my units abandoned the fight. I get a black eye on that one.
Here are those truk results. This wasn't my best effort - sending a ship with low ammo. I had a good opportunity to do serious damage and failed to capitalize!
It turned out to be three combats. They all look like this.
Allies didn't lose a ship, and the empire lost 1 DD and perhaps a second.

Task forces break off...
Sakhalin will be a slog, below is a picture. I don't really have Air Supremacy, though I have knocked down adjacent base airfields. He has 50K forces there and most assuredly a fort level 9.
I am taking the long approach. I will get about an army on the island by September and begin siege tactics. It probably doesn't fall easy or quick.
