Java
Malaya is secured, it's just a matter of taking control of the miscellaneous hexes at this point.
Invasion Java. Again, some nukes by Carrier Aviation, and then Amphib-5 hits very hard as well. Destroyed a defending Inf-Corps and SNLF-Div. Altho the docks were destroyed, I moved up Oz HQ to unload next turn. He can provide additional supply as we push south along the island.

Manchuria-Korea-Japan
Chinese forces push into Manchuria.
Invasion of Korea goes well. Landed in the North and South. Southern force managed to capture the docks intact (didn't damage them, so they're a 5). I was able to land additional forces over the docks. Sweet.
Also, a bit of a confrontation over Japan. I don't even recall what triggered it at this point. I think I flew a mission against his Mari-Bmbrs with some Strategic Bombers of my own. He had Land-based Fighters that intercepted. So I moved up some CVLs to deal with them. Attacking his Fighters then triggered intercepts from CV and CVLs by him. So then I hit the CV and CVLs. On the way to to bomb the carriers in port, I spotted a BC, and sank that too.
And then there was a curious unmarked circle. "What the heck is that thing?" Kamikazes... Ha. Cool. Strafed 'em on the ground. Blam. Dead.
I never did end up killing the Mari-Bmbrs. And you can see from the pic that, he's got one remaining CV, a CVL, and CA that I expect will head east at this point.

Indian forces approach Bangkok. A lone SNLF Division is all that remains to defend Thailand.
Meanwhile, US Army forces push south along the island of Java, supported by land and carrier aviation.

China/Manchuria, Around Japan, and National Morale
Chinese forces push unopposed into Manchuria. The obvious objectives are Hsinking and Harbin.
US forces destroy the IJA Inf-Div defending Keijo, but fall short of capturing the city. Meanwhile, additional forces are landed in the south, in prep for invasion of Japan.
Speaking of which... I plan to invade Japan at two points as illustrated (from the north). This turn, I clubbed to destroyers in the western ports. I wanted to kill the one in the north, because I want start getting my sub screen in place. I also pounded his coastal gun at Nagasaki, just because I could. He's got a fair amount of troops on the Western island of Kyushu. If I can block them off, it'll keep them out of the fight. Frankly, most of his troops are ineffective at this point. But I'm still going to treat him as if his units can still inflict losses.
We also had a quick chat. I'll give him a "freebie" so that we can "test" Kamikazes (since I killed the last one on the ground). But that means standing down my CAP, I presume if they get intercepted, they'll be slaughtered. So I told him I'm going to blow up everything else first, that he would get one shot with his Kami (I'm also curious how much damage they do). But neither do I want to actually lose a Carrier because he used a Kami and then finished it off with additional strikes.
Oh. And... "The Soviet Union prepares for war..."
There didn't seem to be any point to Strategic Map at this point. So I've combined these.

Research, Production, Losses, and Economy
Research - Nothing new spent on Research.
Production - I bought some Chinese units. And just because I like to garrison capitals, I bought garrisons for the Minor Countries. It pleases me. The Mechanized Inf-Corps seemed cool.
Losses - More IJA ground units destroyed. Two IJN Destroyers bombed in the yards.
Economy - USA is the prophesied industrial power-house. Japan's economy continues to collapse.

Indochina, Java, Manchukuo, and Japan
Things are rapidly deteriorating for Japan.
India troops approach Bangkok, and LBA begins to pound the ancient city.
In Java, US forces continue to push south along the island. Meanwhile, New Zealand forces, supported by a heavy naval bombardment, capture a port on the south of Java.
Manchuria - With warning that the Soviets were about to join the Allies, Japan sent a destroyer to engage the Soviet fleet.
It was only successful in damaging a small number of escort vessels. Ships of the Soviet Navy sortied, including the Heavy Cruiser Alexandropov, which sank the small Japanese squadron of Destroyers. Meanwhile, Soviet forces pound border positions in the south near Vladivostock, while several Armored formation stream in from the North. Chinese forces drive towards Hsingyang and Harbin, in a race to claim the cities before the Soviets.
US forces liberate the Korea, and continue to transfer more units into the penensula in preparation for the invasion of Japan. Indeed, some AVLs are already loading in southern locations. I'll send them from Port to Port on their way north, to preserve their supply levels.
US Carriers scour the ports of Japan sinking many ships in Port, including (1x CV, 1x CA, 1x CL, 2x DD, 1x DE). Several land-based squadrons are also destroyed on the ground. Meanwhile, our Battleships destroy a coastal artillery battery on Kyushu. All that remains of the Japanese navy is a single CVL sheltering in a northern port; it's blockaded and should be eliminated next turn.
All of the raids have produced a fairly accurate intel map of the Japanese home defenses.

Research - I left off research, because it's fairly pointless. And I wanted to use the 4th image slot for National Morale.
National Morale - Japan is down to 23%.
Production - Nothing purchased. Just showing this for reinforcements inbound.
Losses - Japanese units are being clobbered at this point. I am continuing to kill them, because I need them to reduce the Japanese National Morale (I want to see if I can actually push it to zero and force a surrender).
Economy - Japanese economy is in shambles.

Indochina, Java, Manchukuo, and Japan
Indochina - Supported by Bombers of RAF and RIAF, Indian forces attacked the SNLF defenders of Bangkok, inflicting heavy casualties. Bangkok expected to fall next turn.
Java - Japanese resistance further quelled. Last remaining stronghold is an Inf-Corps at Soerbaja.
Manchukuo - Chinese forces approach Hsingking and Harbin. While Soviet forces overrun Japanese forces on their way to the interior. US forces complete the liberation of Korea.
Japan - The last of Japanese Navy, a CVL is destroyed Sapparo. Also found and destroyed some Medium and Maritime bombers. Almost as a matter of amusement, I pounded the nearby coastal gun, but was unable to destroy it. We also wanted to test the effectiveness (or not) of Kamikazes, so I had put all the Carriers on "bomber" mode (thus no CAP), to see how effective Kamikazes are. It then occurred to me that, he couldn't actually "see" much, since I eliminated his Mari-Bmbrs and Med-Bmbrs; so I sent him a screen cap of the various targets near Sapparo.
We also pounded an HQ into oblivion, at that town on north coast, with the size-10 port. So I landed two Inf-Corps, except... I forgot that you have to capture all the adjacent hexes to actually flip the port. So it's actually a bit of pickle since my Inf-Corps will be out of supply. So I'll now need to land/capture Nagasaki. I can capture Naga, and create a corridor to my Army Corps. I've got a bunch of folks loaded onto AVs and AVLs at this point. And lots of bombers and Carriers to blow the crap out of stuff.

National Morale - Japanese National Morale is down to 20,053. With the capture of Hsinking and Harbin, that should drop it another 7,000 points (down to 13k). But beyond that, there aren't any other NM locations besides Tokyo. So I'm curious at this point to see if I can actually get Japan to surrender (by getting NM to 0).
Production - Nothing new produced.
Losses - The body count rises. The slaughter seems distasteful, but I need the NM points to see if I can get him to zero.
Economy - Whatever.

Re: WitP mod v903 Ngineer(Japan) vs. Feinder(Allies)
And I found a bug in the Lend-Lease scripts for Soviets (and China).
See, there is utility to playing all the way through!
Anyway...
1. I got a message that Gen Stillwell spawned (again) in China. I'm not sure that he actually did, but China did seem to get a Morale Boost for it.
2. Soviet Lend Lease. So, it gave me the decision event to send supplies thru Persia. I don't actually need to send supplies to Soviets, but it said worth 2-to-1, and a National Morale Bonus, so why not. Anyway it does look like Soviets got a NM boost. But you can also see that, it deducted the 25mpps from the US twice. Soviets received 50mpp as expected, but USA lost 50mpp, should have been 25mpp. Again, this kinda seems pointless. Unless maybe it matters if Japan declares early on USSR, so then maybe it could matter.

Re: WitP mod v903 Ngineer(Japan) vs. Feinder(Allies)
And he just sent me a message about the Kami. He had several 0:2 opportunities against the nearby BBs and CAs. He went ahead and took a shot at the Carrier indicated (I'd have done the same).
He showed as -3 aircraft and -1 hull. I guess I can confirm when I get the turn back.
Actually, upon receiving the turn, it was -3 hull, and -1 aircraft. That feels correct for 8sp Kami.
I don't have much opinion on whether that is expected results or not. He said that Kami's are too expensive (like 200 or 300 mpp if you consider the upgrades). That does seem awfully expensive to me, esp for a throw-away unit.

Yes, the Lend-Lease DE is there just in case Japan attacks Russia early on, copied over from vanilla pretty verbatim. The extra deduction is likely from a duplicate script.
Kamis will be cheaper in the next version.

Japan - We expand our beachead on Kyushu. Also US Marines land at Ominato in the north.

Indochina, Manchukuo, and Japan.
National Morale and Research (just to conserve some posts).
Indochina - I forgot to capture a screen-shot; sorry about that. Indian units moving thru the interior of Vietnam, towards Saigon. Also UK forces land west of Saigon.
Manchukuo - Harbin falls. Nothing left there.
Japan - More troops are landed in the North, and push towards Tokyo. Kyushu is secured. A Japanese Inf-Corps at Kobe puts up stiff resistance, but is destroyed; however we're I don't have enough movement points to capture the city. The drive west from Kyushu along that isthmus is a tough drive, because of the bit about needing all the adjacent hexes to capture the port. Thus most of the ports in Japan cannot be captured by simply capturing the city. Their ports all border several hexes, so you've really got to pry out every defender in order to capture the ports to keep your supplies moving. I don't know that that was exactly intentional map design, but I'd leave it as is, because it would definitely simulate the fact that Japan is going to make you fight for every square inch of territory.

Research, Production, Losses, Income (and a bug)
Research - Nothing new spent. But I did get a message that HeavyBombers went to 4. Cool. No screen cap.
Production - Just building stuff, because I can.
Losses - More ground units destroyed.
Income - Whatever. Minor bug to report. The supplies to Soviets event seems to have only activated for the one turn. It's no longer sending supplies to Soviets. Looks like no more supplies to China via the Hump either, but none are deducted from USA, so it's a wash.

Income - Whatever. Minor bug to report. The supplies to Soviets event seems to have only activated for the one turn. It's no longer sending supplies to Soviets. Looks like no more supplies to China via the Hump either, but none are deducted from USA, so it's a wash.

Re: WitP mod v903 Ngineer(Japan) vs. Feinder(Allies)
It wasn't-as said, there was a lot I didn't understand about port flipping (still don't in some respects). As also said the devs have noted some weirdness, hoping for some remedies in the next patch...Feinder wrote: Tue Nov 07, 2023 10:44 pm Their ports all border several hexes, so you've really got to pry out every defender in order to capture the ports to keep your supplies moving. I don't know that that was exactly intentional map design, but I'd leave it as is, because it would definitely simulate the fact that Japan is going to make you fight for every square inch of territory.
I'll fix the Vlad/Hump scripts-it may be that they simply hit an end date in the scripts, since you have reached the historical end date.

Indochina and Elsewhere : Indian forces push into the interior of French Indochina. UK and Canadian forces under Montgomery consolidate their gains and move to gates of Saigon. Chinese forces destroy the last defenders at Hainan, and land forces to capture Formosa.
Japan : The island of Shikoku is secured. US forces along the isthmus push aside resistance at Kyoto and Osaka (but we don't have enough movement points to walk into Osaka). In the north, US forces approach the fortifications outside of Tokyo. I was going to bombard that Coastal Gun just south of Tokyo, but evidently, I'm not allowed to. Oh well.
National Morale - Japan's national morale is down to 8%, but other than Tokyo, there aren't any National Morale victory hexes remaining. On to Tokyo it is then.
