I'd be interested to see the new repair system "in action". Could you make a "logbook" of a ship with heavy combat damage when it enters the repair yard?

Apologies for the lac of posts, bith Cathartes and I have had a bad does of real worlditis.

27-28 Dec.
I begin unloading at Darwin. I have two Tf here, both with CA's and escort ships. During the unloading over the two days I loose 4 DD's and about 3 of the transports with CA's and transports also hurt. The big 9.2in guns cause some real problems! I get ashore though and the losses are acceptable. Half of KB joins in to help supress the defenders. Next time I'd include aome BB's to help deal with the big guns.

At Rabaul I get ashore largely unmolested.

Over the Phillipines I'm having trouble maintaining decent fighter levels agsinst the Clark CAP, so am loosing Zero's.

Over Singapore I'm slowly gaining the edge getting more aircraft on the ground. My losses in bombers are moderate, fighters are light.

Over Rangoon I tangle with 2 squadrons of the AVG, Cathartes has found my height so while the exchange rate is favourable, it isn't favourable enough for my liking!

In China I'm slowly advancing, almost time to reveal my plans and actions over the last month.

Cheers

Here is progress in Malaya.

The key here is to keep your follow on forces in strat mode, while the first few regts and the armour carry the main battles. Advance hard and fast and if you can't tackle something flank it while the follow-on force move up. Troops in strat mode move very quickly from base to base that you own over the major road/rail network. So you can leave them back, and in one turn will cover 6+ hexes.

I'm using a lot of tac air to slow the enemy down and attrit them before they can get back to delaying positions.

Cheers

Rob

Nth China.

There are opportunities here for both sides. So far I've managed to generate enough force to advance, without exposing any weaknesses. While not much is at threat at the moment Cathartes needs to make some calls soon. I'll be looking for those and adjust my thrust axis as required :)

In the Philipines I'm advancing without a rush. I have divereted some of the forces that would normally be here elsewhere, but I'm confident I have enough to advance. Aparrii will soon host a large offensive air contingent, then the battle really begins :)

The coders have been real busy. We have just upgraded to the new build and this additional functionality has been added. While a minor change it really improves the human machine interface. In the past you had to click into each unit to see what mode and orders the unit had. This saves a lot of time each turn!

Time for an Industry update.

Oil and resources are steadily declining, even though I'm moving a lot of resources already. I need to go back and increase the convoys.

Looks like I also need to increase some engine development, in particular the Ha-32 and 33, and of course the Nakajima.

The HI stockpile is growing though.

As I've said before though that first screen can be misleading, this one shows how little a margin of error you have in Japan itself. Resources are the key in the short term. You MUST get them flowing effectively from the areas under your control.

Great AAR, very informative and enjoyable.
Noted one minor typo for the OOB guys. In Hong kong it should be the 'Royal Rifles of Canada' and not 'Rifles of Canda'
Thanks

Not a typo -- the field allows a maximum of 15 letters/spaces. We're accepting nominations for better alternative spellings:

"Rifle of Canada" (what, the battalion had but 1 rifle among them?)
"RR of Canada" (a rest and relaxation battalion?)
"Canadian Hosers"
"A Canada Bn, eh"
WitP-AE -- US LCU & AI Stuff

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Is this less than in Witp ?

In WitP I managed 'Ryl Rifles of Canada'

Yeah, that was brutal spelling. Can spell Japanese, Taiwanese but not Colonial.[;)]
