1.2 install and Error.

It finds the game on the correct disk F: then try's to find the saved game files on the C: drive!

Why is it not looking in the save game directory?

Error when starting WITPTracker AE Release 1.2!

F:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\WitPTracker AE Release 1.2>
java -Xms128m -Xmx256m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
WARNING: Unable to find WitP directory "C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admir

ERROR: Save game file "F:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\WitP

ERROR: Problem with save game file. Exiting.

Press any key to continue . . .

The error above in blue is probably due to the witptracker.properties file. You need to edit that to point to where the game is actually installed.

The error above in red is probably due to the file not being in that directory.

Floyd
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Please show me the contents of the folder F:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\WitP Tracker AE Release 1.2\, as that's where the program is looking for the file, which doesn't seem to match your witptracker.properties (properties file shows wpae021.pws, but your DOS shell shows wpae002.pws).

Please remove the four trackerdb files and then read and follow the instructions on the Set-up page, here. Pay close attention to the discussion of the SaveMode parameter.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

I really don't understand why your program can't read the files from the saved game directory and let the use select them![8|]

I can select them Pad152, just not the first initial load, which is why the properties file has to be set up properly ... I still think that Floyd is right and you need to think about the SaveMode=[0]. I think you need to set it to 1 or 2, depending on your needs. AND THIS WILL ALLOW READING FROM THE SAVE FOLDER

Multi-turn load is where you will be able to select folder and file (after the initial load)

[edit]Make sure to click the All.pws option ...

Have just come back to WIP to play AE version and downloaded and installed the marvellous tracker. In both the Guadacanal and coral seas sceanrios it seems fine to load the first game but then will not find subsequent saves. Doe sthe tracker only work on the full campaign?

Chris,
it should work with all the scenarios (that I know of) ... how are you trying to load the next turn > multi-load ? or single load ? What is the saveMode=[] in your properties file ? There are a number of ways to load the next turn...

reading the web tutorial should give some assistance, except for the new load features Floyd built for the latest ..

I am sure it is me. The save mode is look in both and the directory is the standard install. When i go to read a turn (single) it says that turn 1 is already loaded and multi turn read cannot find any files in the directories, even if I point it to the right ones and click the all PWS function. Does it matter how you name the file in anyway? they are only the standard date folled by end 1, end 2 etc.

Really want to play with this at the moment but hey ho

thanks for your prompt reply

Chris,
no worries mate I'll get you loading in no time - I hope ...

You shouldn't be clicking "All.PWS" - that is for files that haven't been renamed.

So if your initial load is using file wpae003.pws, and you have renamed the next file wpae003.pws.01 etc then you should be able to do a multi-read, direct to the folder and find them. Making sure NOT to click the "ALL.PWS".

Heres mine.

Did you install the vcredist_IA64.exe file from Microsoft ? Uninstall the 32bit and reinstall the 64 bit
This information was provided by BigJ62:-

[edit]I use the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe to run tracker or staff, by default *.bat files on my vista64 bit machine will use C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe.
Is there a way to make a shortcut so I dont have to do the DOS command manually each time? By default, when I double click on the .bat file, it uses the wrong .cmd file. How can I set this up?

Well the quick way I did it was to make a copy of the bat file and rename the extension to something wacky then associate ("Open With..") that extension to the correct cmd which will open the cmd window in that directory.

I also have a JavaExec for 64 bit machines, and you can pm me with your email if you want it.

Can´t get it to work properly?

I have installed it and it works perfectly when I read the first turn. But when I try to read the next turn it crashes. Sometimes I can see "reading scenario information" before it crashes and sometimes not.

If I delete the program, install and set it up again I can read any turn. But trying to read a turn after that causes a crash again.

I get this error in the tracker dir:

#
# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
#  EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x6d901afd, pid=2208, tid=3968

# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (14.2-b01 mixed mode, sharing windows-x86 )
# Problematic frame:

Are you running from the batch file witptracker.bat rather than witptracker.jar ? The batch file sets up the memory allocation ... what OS are you using ?
