Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
I messed up the Percentages under Empire, Policy Settings, Construction. And there is no working reset option.
Does anybody know what the original values were?
Or what file to delete to restore them?

You could presumably start a new game and find them?zgrssd wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 10:37 am I messed up the Percentages under Empire, Policy Settings, Construction. And there is no working reset option.

Anyway, I never do automated construction so I haven't changed them.

Starting a new game does not reset those values.
Neither does deleting any files I know off.
Territory is all that is in their territory (that they know off).Spidey wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 11:41 amYou could presumably start a new game and find them?zgrssd wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 10:37 am I messed up the Percentages under Empire, Policy Settings, Construction. Galaxy is also all their exploration data
Operations Map additionally gives you a 1 month of live data on every ship and fleet.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
how much is 10% affecting popgrowth on democracy?
if natural number is 3.2% do i get like 3.3%? if i understand it right having democracy is basically worthless
i ran it in game and the numbers arent at 10% flat boost.

Do keep in mind that there are other factors that affect colony growth other than your empire bonus.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Could someone please explain what 'Trace Scan' and 'Shield/Armor bypass' mean? Thank you
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Again: I love this game. You did really such a great job! I am happy it is working so good for the most and I am glad we all can be part of this and this is just the beginning!
Well.. enough said, lets polish it..
I really do not understand what is the difference for a new design choice when saying:
"Copy as new" and "Upgrade".
The name convention is the same. From "Explorer 4" to "Explorer 4 V2"
So I do not get it. If I update, it should go from Explorer 4 to 5, and if I Copy as new, the name should be empty.
Also, I should have a choice whether it upgrades automatic and manual.
There is no upgrade done when chosing upgrade.
In both cases it just writes behind the name V"X" and leaves all components as they were.
Or can someone explain it please?
Thanks for reading and answering (hopefully).

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
"Upgrade" replaces all components in the design with the latest and greatest versions, if needed. "Copy as new" does not. Also, "Upgrade" automatically obsoletes the old design. "Copy as new" does not.rxnnxs wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:37 pm I really do not understand what is the difference for a new design choice when saying:

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
I'm wondering about this too. I haven't got very far, but I do have a basic Spaceport orbiting my home planet. By default that spaceport has a research lab in it, yes? But I don't see an option to move my scientists from my home planet to this spaceport. Does a scientist have to work at a dedicated research station to have any effect?Kerryghan wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 8:34 am What is the benefit of "Scientist Location"?
According to the Galactopedia:
"Scientists apply research benefits when they are onboard a research station [...]"
In my early game, the automation moved my first scientist (+7% hi-tech research) to my research station (+16% reactor research). Looking at my Global Research Bonus screen I see the expected amount by hovering each categories (ie: +16%reactor, +7%hi-tech, etc.).
So I cannot find the reason of moving scientists to specific stations.. Are they some hidden added benefits if they are of the same research types? Or some undocumented synergies?

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
That's very helpful; thanks! So if I set ship design to manual, ship upgrading is manual as well, yes? And if I set ship design to auto, the AI will design upgraded ships for me, right?BTAxis wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 10:04 pm "Upgrade" replaces all components in the design with the latest and greatest versions, if needed. In general, I prefer doing as much as possible manually, so I'm quite happy to use the "copy as new" and "upgrade" functions myself.

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
The automation will automatically design and update ships for you if you turn on that top-level automation setting, but even then it will not design ships for roles that are specifically set to manual (the third-last column in the designs screen).Grotius wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 11:06 pm So if I set ship design to manual, ship upgrading is manual as well, yes? Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
For details like these, you should look up the component in the galactopedia. It's usually explained there.Lymark wrote: Sun Mar 13, 2022 9:37 pm Could someone please explain what 'Trace Scan' and 'Shield/Armor bypass' mean? Thank you
Trace scanning is supposedly for letting you view the design of nearby ships that don't belong to you. However, currently it is always possible to do so, which makes the trace scanner kind of meaningless. Presumably that will change in a future patch.
Shield and armor bypass is a measure of how likely it is for a weapon to ignore shields or armor, directly damaging the next layer of defense.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Built 2 construction ships. I can build things with one of them, but can't build anything with the other. Every time I right click I only get the option to move. Is this a bug or a feature? Do I need to research more tech in order to use more than 1 construction ship?
I'm at the very beginning of the game.

It's a resource shortage. Are you close to the beginning of the game?....GPDeomrve wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:15 am Built 2 construction ships. Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
@Deomrve: As far as I know, there isn't any limitation on the numbers of construction ships that you can have, other than the resources and the money you have. When you right-click, you have to right click on the place where you want to build something. If you just click in space, you'll only have the option to move or refuel.
But with DW2, it might be simpler to use the global queues from the control center to build what you want to build.

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Yes I'm at the very beginning. So If I understand you correctly I need to have all the resources before I can assign my construction ship to a build mission.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Yes, the resources have to be available where the constructor pulls them from....GPDeomrve wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 12:27 am Yes I'm at the very beginning. So If I understand you correctly I need to have all the resources before I can assign my construction ship to a build mission.

No problem. One thing I learned early on in testing is that everything revolves around resources. Including, but not limited to, upgrades and retrofits....GP
